9 years later and an old youtube video still has better cinematography AND historical accuracy than modern hollywood films. I read the article on the spitfire pilot ramming the Dornier. The scene was recreated almost perfectly to it’s historical counterpart. Sheer brilliance.
AWESOME,BREATHTAKING ,AMAZING Too many Words to explain how Great this Production is,I can really appreciate the Many Hours that have been spent creating this Masterpiece,a large proportion on the Poser Pro Pilot Animation let alone the excellent flying sequences.
TaZ101SAGA I know Ray Holmes (1914-2005) the bomber was heading towards Buckingham Palace and when Ray challenged it he realised that his Guns had failed so he rammed it as you saw ripping the tail of the bomber and causing great injury to himself RIP you brave bastard.
He was probably thinking: if I don't stop this bomber, I'll be known as the RAF pilot who allowed a single German bomber to get through. Not on my watch!
Excellent editing, magnificent presentation of that battle and together with the appropriate gears make the video a worthy example of a movie. Congratulations from Argentina
My Grandmother was a conductor on the London buses during the blitz. I remember hearing her say how loud it was when the air raid sirens would wail and then the bombs would fall... It must have truly been a frightening time!
"Flight Lieutenant Ray Holmes, who died on Monday aged 90, delivered the coup de grace to a German Dornier 17 bomber near Buckingham Palace in one of the most celebrated episodes during the Battle of Britain" (June 2005)
The BEST one of these I've seen yet. RE-enactment of some of the movies scenes with Ju-88s instead of He111s. Got the BoB theme and ride of the valks. I hope to have a computer that can run this someday. I could fly the current one if I could get damn windows to see my CH stick and pedals like it used to. THis is great work. Very pro looking.
Wow this video is amazing, I would watch all of your battles if you can transform them in movies like this :P only wish it would last longer, and that there would be more camera action from the inside. Either way, Good Work !
Some nice historical facts in this video(Like the heinkel crashing in the grounds of buckingham palace and the do 17's tail being severed by the hurri).Nice work.
@rifledude303 Was that the chap who ran out of ammo in his hurricane and took down the bomber using his wing or something ? i remember seeing a documentary on history channel about it .
5:42 this scene happens in real life. During the blitz, ray holmes ran out of ammo for his hurricane & used his plane as a missile and tore the Dornier in half. He managed to eject including three of the Dornier crew
lol imagine if that pilot that had bailed would have landed on your car and crushed it try explaining that to your insurance company great video by the way youve really captured the action nicely
I've got lots of bits and bullet casings from a Do17z that was shot down and crashed at Sturry, Kent, on Battle of Britain Day! I'd love to re-enact it... Is this game any good?
To all those so critical of some small details - it is very hard to make a video of this calibre. Take a look at the credits for " Red Tails " and youll see it took hundreds of Aniamators and effects people to make the animations in that movie !! Well done to the makers of this video - I know the effort and hours that went into it.
As ironbrig said, yes it was a real danger. I distinctly remember several german posters about the dangers of Flak Shrapnel. The bullet might looses it's horizontal trajectory and fall down, but during that fall it gets again accelerated through the gravity. If it falls from a sufficient height it might have even more kinetic energy then when it was fired. Also the trajectory of the bullet is nearly impossible to predict.
Just out of curiosity, would it be possible for the bullets from fighters to hit people on the ground ? Or would the bullet loose it's power before reaching the ground in such altitudes ? Either way, great video !
My sole problem with the clip is that the RAF had abandoned the vic formation by the beginning of the Battle, favouring the rotte and schwarm formations of the Luftwaffe. Otherwise, THUMBS UP!
These videos are great. The graphics may not be as good as Hollywood films like Red tails and Flyboys but the flight characteristics look MUCH more realistic.
@Wailwulf Thx for your kind reply. I really appreciate this video based on a true event. But I didn't know it, though I'm flying sims for years. Perhaps they should have put a short explanation in the title or description. I'm sure most of the viewers don't even realise it, but it kinda made me sceptic. But again: this is no reason to dislike this video. Regards from Germany!
Ace!!! That did cheers, I was always more inclined to IL2 but just kept hearing its way to buggy and stuff, but I think I will get IL2 anyway along with RoF :) Massive thanks!
that part at the end where the hurricane rammed the Do-17 is real, the hurricane pilot landed in a bin and his parachute got stuck on a drainpipe and was paraded as a hero
Fantastic but i would also add music "clubbed to death" by Rob Dougan during the fight scenes, or the final battle scene music from the movie Battle of Britian"
Aha, thanks for the information. In your channel I can read that you are 26, so your grandpa must be pretty old now (if he is still alive). Your place are the United States, do you have german roots?
Fantastic video - speechless with admiration. Unbelievable! Thinking about the Hurricane pilot that rammed the Dornier at the end. From the cockpit view before the collision, it looked as though he couldn't even see the Do 17 over the Hurricane's nose. It made me wonder whether in real life, that pilot collided with the Dornier by accident, then claimed in his report that he rammed it deliberately because he was too embarrassed to admit the truth! I might have done that in his position. ;)

These kinds of videos are 10x better than what Hollywood usually does!
love how you put the legacy of Ray Holmes' fight with the Do17 Dornier at the end!
This is award winning stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make it
AWESOME,BREATHTAKING ,AMAZING
Too many Words to explain how Great this Production is,I can really appreciate the Many Hours that have been spent creating this Masterpiece,a large proportion on the Poser Pro Pilot Animation let alone the excellent flying sequences.
Excellent film, loved the music and the pilot animations. Barfly produces some great material!
Hah, I love how you included the ramming scene, which was actually a documented event by an RAF pilot! Nice.
He probably thought to himself: "For king and country"!
+Cdt. Mike.L RAF : For King (whos give high tax expenses) and country

This is amazing!! Excellent work, great angles and camera placement on the ground!
My Grandmother was a conductor on the London buses during the blitz. I remember hearing her say how loud it was when the air raid sirens would wail and then the bombs would fall... It must have truly been a frightening time!
My mum who is now 95 was close to Victoria station watched the plane come down and she thinks only one of the crew got out.
3 did, one was beaten to death
What plane
Only three
@@annette1491 The plane is the Dornier that got hit by a Hurricane

That really is a first class effort mate, bloody great!
terrific effect of the abraded paint on the planes showing the shiny aluminium underneath.

.Excellent Video. I believe the Hurricane pilot slid of a roof and ended up in a garbage bin and the bomber crashed into a railway station
Update. As i remember.....the title of the book was, 'German Bombers over England' The usual sites sell this particular old book.
For me, The best movie ans for a long time about battle of britain in video games!
Quite simply SUPERB ! Well put together , loved the tribute to the film , recognise a few similarities :)
Really awesome! That makes me wanna play more Cliffs of Dover^^

Some nice historical facts in this video(Like the heinkel crashing in the grounds of buckingham palace and the do 17's tail being severed by the hurri).Nice work.
You've outdone yourself Barfly, that was superb!
Outstanding video ! Considering it's just a PC game, you've made it look very realistic.
Is this the real ingame graphics? The planes look awesome!
Everything except the animated people are in-game graphics - and the graphics look even better with the Team Fusion mod :)
Very well done. Great editing.
great job downloading this video now!!!!
Thrilling movie, keep it up, want more of these very fine dogfighting scenes!
Excellent! Glad to see hurricanes attacking bombers and also happy to see the recorded incident of the 'collision'. :) great job
It was a Do 17 that crashed onto Victoria Station not a '111
I'm assuming you copied the BoB film ?
wow ..... this is a movie !!!! great work !!!!!
how...just how you make this video, its awesome bro!!!!
Brillient Barfly! I fly clod all the time but the poser pro really adds to the vids!
Love it! Really nice work. This is much better than the new film "The German". Excellent.

Well done, great video.
Who’s here 10 years later??

Awesome!!!!
lol I love how you put that quote from the 1969 Battle of Britain movie
Like X1000!
Were there bomber gunners that wore fritz helmets?
I've seen pictures of them wearing them, wasn't it to help against flak?
This will be good for my history homework
@rifledude303 Was that the chap who ran out of ammo in his hurricane and took down the bomber using his wing or something ? i remember seeing a documentary on history channel about it .

You do good work, Barfly.
I get a lot of Battle of Britain movie vibes excellent!!!
What’s with all the Stuka sirens and no junkers 87s?
What is the song when the RAF appeared?
The battle of britain film from the movie

Please email me with your honest review of Cliffs Of Dover. This video is very nice, thank you for posting it!

Nice reference to George Undwin there at the end! ;-)

Can anybody tell me has this IL-2: CoD improved at all with the patches?
Yup, hitting people with stray bullets was a very real danger. Shrapnel from AA bursts was also deadly.
how you get cockpits for do-17 ?
what should i buy IL2 Cod, or Wings of Prey, or Rise of Flight!?
I've seen some pics where they did. It was probably optional.
Very well done!

Great reference to Ray Holmes there, ramming the Dornier after his guns were empty (not before downing two more bombers I might add!)
can some please tell me the name of this song please

Karl Wiesmann ich weiß herr wieseman :D aber es hätte wieder leute gegeben,

Why is unplayable, Im about to buy it !
the scene of the hurricane ramming the bomber is historically accurate, VERY WELL DONE !

1:53: in the group of Dornier Do17 the interior cockpit belongs to a Junkers Ju88 (same in 3.30).
