Steve Pemberton is a genius. From drama to comedy, from writing to acting, he is brilliant.
Steve Pemberton is one of my favourite actors/writers/directors. He is so incredibly versatile, and everything he does is perfection.
Steve really is one of our greatest actors and a top man - we are lucky to have him
I loved Steve in Happy Valley. He showed his dramatic acting chops. He is a Renaissance man for sure .
I think The League Of Gentlemen is the greatest comedy show ever written in any country ever
Steve and Reece would be two of my dream dinner party guests.
I've worked in film for over 15 years and Steve Pemberton is my favourite actor and script writer of all time, a genius
Finding out that someone as talented as Steve had no family background in theatre is really reassuring as someone who also has no family history in what I've wanted to achieve in my life. Shows you can be the best of the best and you don't necessarily need to have grown up with the right influences from a young age.
Steve and Reece's imagination/creativity is off the scale! 😵
I love all the League, but Steve has always been my favourite. So humble for such incredible talent
God, it would be fantastic to see the award winning dramatic actor Rob Brydon in Inside No 9! I feel like the odds are good 😅🤞
@@tonycowin that is an awesome idea, but like Steve said, everyone is quick with the setting, but write the other 98 pages and he’ll consider it. 😂 But seriously tho, that’s an awesome idea.
Steve Pemberton is genuinely one of the most brilliant talents this country has ever produced. Hilarious, terrifying, likeable, creative...he's got it all. His range is incredible. Inside No.9 can be a bit self indulgent at times, but by God it shows his acting and writing chops.
Steve and the League/Inside gang are truly legends of British comedy. Another banger of an interview Rob, how do you do it?
Don't forget Psychoville! Pure comedy genius at everything they do :)
Rob’s Reece impression was an unexpected delight
When in the interview does he do the impression, do you know, sorry?
Steve is such an incredibly likeable bloke!
Two extraordinary talented guys - their body of work is so good I can watch it repeatedly and enjoy it all the more.
I love these interviews, they are so friendly and good-natured. You are a true treasure Mr Brydon.
Steve pemberton is a class actor! Brilliant in all his productions❤hello someone, whoever you are.
Steve is a genius! LoG, Psychoville and IN9 are programmes I regularly re-watch!
Superb interview... love that Steve played against type in Benedorm... this character was very funny whilst playing a typical holiday dad type and with the amazing cast it had made hilarious comedy gold. 👍
'Middle-aged Welshman goes to wellness retreat. Something happens, somebody gets killed. Who did it? Who didn't do it?'
Is Michael Sheen available? 😀
Masterclass! Great interview. Pemberton is the best.
Brilliant actor
Saw Steve in The Pillowman a few days ago and he was completely fantastic in it. The whole cast was, though Lily Allen stole it all really. I never knew she was so good!! Outstanding show, with plenty of laughs and some very dark moments indeed.
Steve is a legend
Great interview, Steve is a top bloke
Back when BBC America was filled with all the best sitcoms I found him thru League of Gents. Then he popped up on a show about Jack the Ripper copy cat killings. He was a Ripologist working with the police. Good show.
Whitechapel was great! And I think it was only about Jack the Ripper in the first season. Then it was themed around other historical murders and urban myths.
i LOVE how much rob loves Steve's impersonations. the joy in his face is everything. love the show. great job xx
Steve's comments about being seen as very normal early on in his career, having no real interest in his appearance and just wanting to play the characters brought to mind a quote from the late great Ronnie Barker:
I've always known I haven't a personality of my own, I have to be someone else to be happy. That's why I became an actor, I suppose."
Steve is one of our greatest character actors and an incredible writer.
Lovely. Lovely sense of humour.
Inside No 9 has drama, comedy, pathos, slapstick, music-hall and horror and writing, that is up there with Galton and Simpson and La Frenais and Dick Clement: every episode-a modern classic.
Steve Pemberton is a phenomenal actor; he disappears into whatever character he is playing, from idiotic to scheming to pitiful. He's astonishing.
I do not know a lot about this industry but 9 is quite wonderfully directed and performed, by all involved. Engaging and exciting.
I adore the old work, but this gives me a happy experience in the current time. Thankyou.
absolutely crackin' - thank you, lads!
Steve would make an excellent Inspector Goul in An Inspector Calls.
Seeing Steve slip between Herr Lipp, Pauline and Pop made me giddy with happiness
I LOVE HIM! I love them all..
Saw LOG on stage years ago where they all just wore a tux and it was brilliant. (Came away with a Creme Brule T shirt too 😊)
Obviously I watch everything they are in ..and even read Marks books. But my fave was Phsychoville ! I was absolutely bereft after binging that ❤
God love the funny people of this world xxx
emmaemma6641. Do you know where I can watch Phycoville? Sorry I can't spell! It's not on BBC I player and I can't find it in TH-cam either? 😊✌
There was a wellness centre in both Nighty Night and Saxondale. With all the Baby Cow/Gavin and Stacey crossovers it could be a great third act.
Rob's impersonation of Reece Shearsmith perfect: exasperated and angry for no reason, but brilliant.
Rob, A Welsh Les Patterson? Pure compliment 👍
lovely, lovely. well said rob. steve is a genius, and you gave him a great mic opportunity. thanks a lot!
What a wonderful story and interview ❤
I never watched Inside No 9. For some reason I thought it was a political comedy about Downing Street :) never saw a trailer or anything for it. Then a few months ago I watched one, realised what it was about and then binge watched several series worth :)
Fantastic 😊
Herr Lipp is one of my favorite characters, because I speak German. Pemberton's German accent is very good. Normally, English native speakers are terrible with foreign languages.
Amazing they have so much time to do a podcast!!!!
Love all the guys from the LoG! Sad that Inside No9 is ending but excited to see what they do next. Was thinking of one of his characters this week as I have been on holiday in Whitby, you see Whitby Scampi on the menu a lot. Made me think of the debt collectors. "I was right to looking forward to that scampi!" 😂😂
I will always regret that they never did a third season of Psychoville. Not even as a radio series!
I find it hard to believe they were so incredibly intimidated by David bloody Walliams considering the dramatic difference in quality between the output of them!
Hey, fantastic relaxed and genuine interview really enjoyed it. Steve is absolute great as are inside number nine and the old favourite of the league of gentlemen brilliant. 26:22
Woop woop, just pulled over for lunch, thanks for something to watch 👍
Lovely stuff.
You broke my heart when you left Benindorm
'WE DIDN'T BURN HIM!!' ;) xx
Steve Pemberton. Absolutely HILARIOUS characters.
Brydon and Pemberton?! Woo hoo!!!
Psychoville was my favourite but ive caught up on my Inside no.9 and it could be my favourite out of the 3 they have made, fantastic. 3 of the best shows ever made, shows how good they are as writers and actors. I hope they go past series 9 [as unlikely as that is]
Mick Gravy👍
9 maverick bars !
Where is the best place to find all the back catalogues of LoG and Inside no9, outside of BBC?
Steve, sorry to be so personal in such a public way but I have no way to message you privately. I can see that you have rosacea....so do I. My advice to you would be to go lower carb and in particular, cut out grains/gluten. My rosacea has improved almost totally by doing those things. Good luck and love your work! ❤
can I put this out there, forget your footballers, pop stars, you both are the weavers of imagination. Thank you.
fucking gold. gotta love these two. it's like itv v bbc. behemoths both. mein camp.
@rob where did you get that amazing hair transpant from? they did a proper good job for saying you had it a long time ago
LoG seems like yesterday. It's a shock to see him looking old!
He doesn't look old, he looks like a healthy man in his mind 50s (with three children who are now young adults) who has.a successful career for over 2 decades
Vale Papa Lazarou the most terrifying zany character wow! 🤡👹 Thank you Gentlemen ….and Dave.
Good as usual . Volume out of whack
Fergie hooter!😉
Whitechapel was superb!
Is he local?
No mention of Benidorm, huh? 😅😅
Steve looks like he's rather fond of the sauce.
@@TheBionicRectum Having your face eaten by birds can do it too. But the alcohol is rather more likely.
Benidorm he carried that show
I’m going to be annoyed as a struggling actor from Stoke if there aren’t any genuine or at least convincing potters accents in that Robbie film 😂 it’s only like the third time ever that a big project has had cause to seek out actors with my accent 😅🙃
the BAFTA was well and truly deserved.
Love rob and steve great podcast but steve wasn't told that red nose day has gone 😊
No, I can't believe the man that gave the world Uncle Harvey Toad-Face would confuse a monkey and an ape
Steve Pemberton is my secret crush.
LOL Mrs Dowding - horrible teacher, a prototype 'Mrs Snotty' Katharine Birbalsingh. she was deputy head when I was at St Pricks (St Michael's Chorley). Wonder if sweaty Lumb of the library and Latin inspired a few too - always though Harvey Denton / Herr Lipp had a lot of 'sweaty's' slimy character in there
Love inside no 9 but last series had quite a few misses imo
Rob Brydon, "Sometimes I see people in the street, and I think, I could play him."
Ben Miller, "Are you lookin' at me?"
...and then came an episode where a welsh man, at a wellness retreat in the wilds of wales, finds at breakfast absolutely nobody in the rest of the episode...no birds singing, cars won't start, phones missing, no staff, no life. Worries he is in a coma, or a movie, insane, or somesuch. However...his memory starts returning of how everyone died. He is the last man alive. But there is a huge physical wall around wales he can't get over...then he hears the howls...
Rob's German sounds more Austrian.
if they ever make a film or tv special about Sir Alex Ferguson.. i think Steve would nail the role!
Steve ...it takes class to have no dress sense! 😂
This steve guy seem like he's nice i suppose.
Steve looks like the ghost of a clown these days. Still, the best thing to come out of Chorley ever.
Steve is hot af.
League of gentlemen is a comedic treasure … probably not for the American audience… indeed not always for the British audience .. but for those not tainted by modern woke culture ….and a caustic sense of humour 🤡
Great interview Rob and also your hair looks wonderfully smashing today ,your a good boy.
He gotta red nose
what about a brydon character who seems so nice but is really drugging pemberton so he is frail and needs help giving brydon the excuse to cling on to him .a munchausens by proxy type thing...this might be the only way to squeeze nice brydon into a sinister role
Why is Rob a fan of Jimmy saville
There was a Welsh character in the last series. The accent was average. Sorry.
Inside No 9 is one of the best television shows ever written. I got my 76 year old dad into it and he's now bought the book and everything.
there's a book?
@@TheSuperQuail The Insider’s Guide to Inside No.9 by Mark Salisbury…..also two volumes of scripts
... Splendiferous Indeed 🏴🖖
