I was sexually assaulted by a doctor in Canada. Nobody cares. The police told me to go to the college of physicians and surgeons of Ontario. I am hunger striking them to recommend criminal charges. I'm on day 6 and they will not even acknowledge me. Police said I consented. I needed two surgeries because of what he did to me and I have chronic pain. I had to pay for one of the surgeries because I was treated by a friend of the rapist, his friend medically abandoned me. Chronic surgical infection for many months. Nobody cares. Nothing has changed about how we talk about sexual violence. People in power protect powerful men.

Hmm. I'm so sorry to hear that. Also, I find it strange where you said "Police said I consented". It's not the police job to judge your claim, it's the job of the court. I'll advise you to please stop your hunger strike because you will only cause more harm to yourself. I'll also advise you to get a lawyer to help you file the charges. You you have done that to no avail, then what you can do is gather your evidences, and approach the media or social media influences to help you published your story and seek justice.

They will always ask for some kind of evidence. If you don't have any, they will interrogate them. If they excel with a proper lawyer, your case could be lost. However, gather evidence on how neglectful they are and go to the press and social media. Best of luck 👍 ✨️

After 16 weeks, the Pelicot trial is over.
This morning's session was shorter than many had anticipated, with the court president, Roger Arata, whizzing through the guilty verdicts he and four other judges handed down to the 51 defendants, and then separately spelling out the sentencing for each of them.
Before midday, this trial - which has captured people in France and beyond - was over.
Gisèle Pelicot was just an anonymous retired French grandmother when she first walked into the door of the Avignon tribunal. Few journalists were waiting for her then.
Today, when she descended the steps of the courthouse for the last time, she was a feminist icon.
Well over a hundred journalists followed her every move as she put her hand to her heart and smiled wordlessly, thanking the crowds of supporters who chanted out her name.
When her car drove off, supporters wiped off their tears. Their gratitude for this diminutive but extraordinary woman was palpable.
She will be remembered for a long time.

What about the other men involved? No charges for them? And her doctor who was treating her unexplained injuries for many years? I wonder if he will change his way of dealing with rape victims? Will he ask more questions in the future before "treating" patients? How interesting that the men involved were protected from experiencing the "shame" of having their identities revealed. A very curious practice indeed.

Even when the entire nation was watching Nirbaya's case, a classic example of how Justice is delivered in india after 7 years!! Forget the regular cases in the courts....looks like they are very proud of their capabilities to drag the cases to 20 to 30 years......

France has a better court decisions taken swiftly and brought into actions whilst country like India has courts which take the cases for a date, and the dates goes on for years making hard to remember what actually had happened.
This episode was very very hard to visualise what extreme exploitation had the senior citizen gone through and she survived the ugly experience of her precious life.
I did say that there are people who go through extreme exploitation and people can understand what must be the feelings and values of being alive.

    Not proportional or fair penalty
Especially when done by an abuser with whom you were in a relationship like marriage or parent child
Such relationships but extra burden on victim and prolong yhe trauma
Further thet rely on them and hence delay the complaint
