Thank you to the person who recorded and shared this video. I watch it every month and every time I watch it it’s like I’m watching it for the first time and it always makes me laugh
I woke up in middle of the night wondering if there was any news on Johns condition and ran into this video. I went from tears to laughter before it was over. I’ve loved his music for 40 years and have seen him at least a dozen times. The world isn’t ready to lose such an amazing talent.
I bought his first album in High School and have been a fan ever since. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the Newport Folk Festival years ago, a performance I remember to this day. Such a Sad Day when he died. These 33 people who gave a thumbs down must live the sad lives,,,
The man is a national treasure. There should be a statue made while he is still with us........he deserves it. Incredible talent and incredible sense of humor and the salt of the earth. God Bless ya John.
I've used to play John Prine tunes back in the '80's when I was a rocker.. now, I'm over 40, and LOVE his music.... just mastered "You Got Gold" and can't wait to take on a few more masterpieces... he is awesome ;)... I have a special friend to thank, who reintroduced me to him... thanks LLR...
I completely love John Prine . I have followed him from state to state for years , I cried so much when he got cancer a few years ago . I'm so glad he beat it . Love him so very much . Thank you for posting . Betty from beautiful Arizona .
One of my more "hip" counselors at church camp turned me on to Prine when I was about 16. Sam Stone, Great Compromise, Frying Pan,etc. Immediately identified with his music and learned lots of his tunes on my acoustic. Still try to catch him on tour every few years at least. My whole family enjoys his music. Took my younger daughter to see hi when she was abut four years old and she wowed all the folks around us by singing along with every song he sang. My father in law always wanted me to play Please Don't Bury Me for him.
I was there - Juneau High School auditorium. I've seen John in concert 5 times and this was the best. He played three hours and was so funny and right on musically all night.
WOW. I might look into it if i still around, but get back and tell me how it was! John is AWESOME, seen him live up in Canada in an open air concert by Lake Ontario back in the early 90s. What a beautiful night it was, John was in his prime that night, as he always is. Such a great songwriter, story teller and musician. He is the real deal.
oh wow, I would have loved to see this. This guy, and the older version of himself (he just gets better and better like violins and whiskey), playing in a high school auditorium...its more than enough for everyone.
No way is this music wasted on HS students. I heard John's music and loved it long before I was old enough to actually understand everything he was singing about. A good song is a good even if you don't know what it's about.
I'm with GunClinger. I've heard this song a million times. I play it myself. It's really a throw-away 2 minute tune. But that story in the middle of it is absolutely perfect.
@094340 I agree with you. I had the chance to meet him years ago in Tampa when he played there, got to go to one of his gigs as a guest...I have always loved his lyrics. He said that everything he wrote came off the toilet...saying that's where he did his best thinking...isn't that the truth!!
Here is my tribute to the great John Prine, new lyrics to his That’s the Way the World Goes ‘Round. Not as good as his, of course, but hopefully with some of his wit. A good way to remember him. I know a fella who ‘bout ev’ry night Drank and smoked by some candlelight By sunrise, he was an awful sight But he had completed his song. He sang his tune, asked to be heard Worked to be clever with ev’ry word His guitar ringing, his voice like a bird (That last line is probably wrong.) That’s the way the world goes ‘round Some dislike, others love your sound One day here, the next heaven-bound That’s the way the world goes ‘round
Happy Enchilada? At first I didn’t get it but if you listen to the story teller...much like in the Arlo Guthrie style then ...you get it. God bless John Prine. I’ll order Enchiladas ever time now
@@michaelochman1953 He was drinking hotel sink cocktails with Steve and they only ate the first half of the song. Now you know the rest of the story. Burp
I was home on leave with a hot girl whose dad owned a Cadiilac Dealership and we snorted a bunch of coke and smoked a bunch of pot with her brother and his girlfriend. We were shooting pool in the basement of his/her basement and I went to the coke machine to get a beer when the bottle fell on the floor and broke right in front of his grand dad and grand mother. I stood frozen like the proverbial deer in the head lights. He said "thats like mother milk, don't spill it" .
@flowerpostcards thank you very very much! . now, i know im asking too much, but, if you have time for this, i would like to know what the story about a Happy enchilada is!! thanksss!!
Part Deux - This is part of the previous post but I ran out of letters. So anyways grand dad caught me with a broken beer bottle in basement watching me fumble all coked up and stoned trying to clean it up. He watched me and shuffled away. I had been weighed and measured and come up lacking. I looked at Dan and he looked away. Sharon came over to help. Never have I felt so guilty or so completely and rightously dismissed. I graciously didn't call Sharon again. But that's way....

Love this song when I'm stressed out. It brings me back to earth.🌎
Beat cancer twice. He couldn’t make it through the Covid. M.I.C. He left a special place for us to go to, in his music.
Thank you so much John will never be forgotten 🙏.
I’ve never been this heartbroken over a musician dying before.
Same here, Chuck!
Me too. I've never cried when a celebrity died before.
@@janetstafford3700 the man wrote some seriously profound lyrics!
Chuck Finley Gut-wrenching.
You said it Chuck, his music will live forever 💚😓.
I was there, front & center with my family!
What a fantastic memory.

Love John Prine... I can't think of a more plainspoken and charming songwriter. An authentic national treasure. God bless him.
I think the world needs a happy enchilada song, and JP would be the man to write it.
It looks like I will be crying every time I hear one of his songs for a while.
The wit and wisdom of Mark Twain!

i wonder how the lady who asked him to sing its a "happy enchillada" feels everytime she hears this song. lol
I'll bet she's pretty honoured. I'd give anything to be that woman, since she got to see him live, which I was never able to do.

Half an inch of Water. Sounds like Happy Enchilada.
LOL I ONCE WAS AFRAID OF WATER
It does, it really does, if you want it to lol
Personally, if it's not beat up a bit ( think Willie Nelson's guitar Trigger ) it hasn't reached its full potential.
Happy enchilada
I changed some words too
John was looking really slim here and grumbely beans was a better lyric imo lol
Its about a half an inch of water!!
