Hi Everyone…. Due to life getting in the way it’s been a while since I uploaded an update video. Hopefully things are settling down now and I will be able to get back to doing a few more regular videos.
By way of catching up, this video is a bit of a mixed bag and I have tried my best to fit a lot into it.
Firstly I show a few additions to the workbench kit, starting with the new Roku streaming device for the tv. It’s up and running and excellent for TH-cam while working on my models. I also show my new rechargeable wireless soldering iron. It’s great for the small intricate jobs on locos.
Next is the first of the additions to the fleet. These are a rake of six ho wagons from Electrotren. I got these at a bargain price (£30) brand new off eBay.
I point out the great ‘Jewel case’ packaging and ask the question, seeing as Electrotren is owned by Hornby, why don’t we get such packaging in this country.
Next we go into the train room and I run rakes of new Dapol Freightliner hopper wagons, as well as Accurascale British Steel covered wagons and a pair of Accurascale KUA Nuclear Flask wagons.
All absolutely lovely pieces of kit and great upgrades to my fleet.
I then take some time to discuss a change in my approach to the layout and the change from a Heritage Railway model to essentially a training layout, where I can learn and improve my modelling skills, but at the same time do what I love best have fun just modelling and running trains.
The last section of the video I update you on the latest phase of the scenery build.
If that lot is not enough Ive also included a couple of short running sessions. All in 22 mins or so.
I hope you enjoy the video and would love to hear any comments on the subjects covered.
    Regards … Steve 👍

Great new wagons Steve and they do look good with the 66s, especially by the tunnel scenes.
Must admit was bit concerned when you said about boxing in, but then you chopped through the wall, problem sorted.

Hi John…. Hope all is well with you. Most issues can be sorted by reaching into the double track tunnels, and I’ve found that the access hole in the back of the scenic hill works well to sort out serious problems.
But I also enjoy cutting holes in walls 🤣🤣
      👍👍👍

Hi Steve nice update mate. Firstly nice new stock and I agree that a rake of 8 wagons looks perfect for everyday running however just for filming you could add rakes together just to show a train running through a particular scene. You can't beat building your layout in small modules. That way you don't get overwhelmed, you can go from 1 module to another, I do it all the time, so that you don't get bogged down and you have a variety of modelling. I see so many people saying their mojo has gone and in a lot of cases it's because they're trying to do too much at once. Trying to complete their layout in super quick time. I think how you are doing it is great. Keep it up mate, enjoyed watching, that's above my station indeed lol, atb Andy

Hey Andy…. Hope you are well.
Thanks for dropping in and your encouraging comments. I will definitely take on your tip about running longer rakes, specifically when filming. I agree they will look much more impressive. With the freightliner hoppers I have enough of them to run a rake of 12. I will do some test shots.
      Regards…. Steve 👍
