  • Hi …… Thanks for dropping in on Route 7 Railway.
Music in this video is Royalty Free……. ‘Gold’ by Rob Simonsen
It’s been a while since my last video, unfortunately real life has reduced my time in the train room over the last months. But I have managed to get some stuff done and filmed, albeit intermittently.
So what is this video about, well it’s about deciding how to build a large corner section of scenery on the layout…. Fixed or Lift-out.
The other three corners I have worked on are all fixed, it’s easier to build fixed scenery sections.
Lift-outs are more complicated and fiddly, but if successful they give great access to the track and infrastructure underneath as well as to any derailments or breakdowns of rolling stock.
This is my first ever layout so all this is still very new to me. If you are also a beginner to scenic work I think you will find this video encouraging as to the effects you can achieve.
If you are an experienced modeller, I would really appreciate any tips you may wish to enter in the comments section.
I hope you will watch the video and see which method I decided to use.
Part 2 is in the Editing process and should be ready to upload in the next few days
    Regards…… Steve 👍

Hi Brian. Hope you are well. Yes I think there’s a bit to much walling. Next time I do something like this it will be more rural and maybe just a big hill 🤣🤣
Yes it’s is quite light and relatively easy to move around. I’m quite pleased for a first time liftout.
      Hope to see you soon
      Regards…. Steve 👍

Hi Steve just watched part 1 and it's looking very good mate. I try to build lift out sections as much as possible to help get to yhe hard to reach areas and for cleaning. Atb Andy

Hi Al and thanks for dropping in. 🤣🤣 yes you are right. Part of the filming was done before the heatwave. Part two (coming very soon) was done during the hot weather. Luckily my garage stays relatively cool 🤣👍

Welcome back! Hope you are well? Are you going to GETs this year? I HOPING to be there, depends on school.
The lift out unit is coming on very well, and especially after the painting at the end of the video starting to look really good. May I ask what the over all weight like? It’s very surprising how heavy the item gets whilst its being scenic-ed. If it is too heavy, you could easily cut it into two with a lip under the edge of one section. See how it goes…

Hi John. Yes. Planning to go to GETs. Not sure which day though. Thanks for watching. Part two is nearly ready 👍👍

help out along a bit - use the wall to support the edge of drop in then nothing goes down to block that track you see the towers of the wall cut out the tops of towers and use them to secure the base

Hi. Thanks for watching and the tip. The liftout has turned out to be very strong and well supported using the shaped positing board. Part 2 is going up soon so I hope you will see that it is progressing surprisingly well for a first time effort.
      Regards….. Steve 👍
