how does James play the riff so tight with the complex , wordy syncopated vocal line ?
    The blokes a genius .

"I eat and I dress and I wash,
And I still can say 'thank you'.
    Puking, shaking, sinking
I still stand for old ladies,
    Can't shout, can't scream.
Hurt myself to get pain out."
Richey was such a brilliant wordsmith...poor Richey.

JDB is amazing-as are Nicky and Sean. But anyone doubting Richey’s contribution to the live sound of the early Manics should compare this with the Glastonbury ‘94 performance where he’s onstage.

It's a testament to how good of a musician that James Dean Bradfield really is, by being a able to play both guitar parts and sing (albeit pitchy in a few parts) this song pretty damn well!

A completely dysfunctional band in more ways than one (and thank God). Main tunesmith & guitarist, singing words not written by him. A drummer of seriously great musical skill helping him whilst two 'mouthy' gits on the wings. How and why they are not more lauded in rock 'n' roll history is beyond me but I think because they are true to their roots and very much down to earth stops them being put in the pantheon's of R&R's hall of fame.

Part of the "charm" of THB is unlike 95% of their catalogue, there are songs which feature tempo changes or bars with an odd number of beats (the verses on Yes being a prime example).

As that 'other chap' carved in his arm, are you......... 'for real?'. Appreciate that is your opinion, but in my humble opinion everything that followed the Richey.....and the Holy Bible was merely watered down dross.
Don't get me wrong, for most substandard bands the songs that followed would have been welcome but the whole James singing properly and the commercial pop that followed was not for me. First three albums and them live up until that point were up there with the best.
