Riches rhythm guitar sounds perfectly fine, nothing wrong, i dont get the criticism. We loved him no matter what, all the boys in the band are magnificent
I have no dog in this hunt, but in a song that places minimal rhythmic requirements, a more adept rhythm player would have added more dynamism to the song. Dude played barre chords all right through and it may be a testament to the talent of other guys in the band that they carried Edwards to no discernible detriment.
JDB is one of the best. Absolute legend. Totally underrated also. Guitar work is incredible, and Everything Must Go, despite it’s mainstream popularity at the time of release, is one of the most original and emotionally charged albums of all time. I love that album, which got me into them, but the Holy Bible just about out-does it for me. That is genius level stuff and I struggle to explain to my friends why.. most of them don’t get it, but that makes it all the more intense and personal experience. MCP 🤘🏼
Saw them live just a few night ago and they sounded better than ever. This song though takes me back to my freshman year of college driving around by myself, windows down, just listening to this album on permanent repeat.
I read “Withdrawn Traces by Sara Hawys Roberts, Leon Noakes and most importantly Richards sister Rachel Edwards. & somehow it made me feel closer to Richey. Which is crazy cause it’s not even in his words, expect the words they quoted from him. I kinda believe he’s disappearance has a deeper meaning, a message with it. As his disappearance really made a talk about him, even for none fans. He got his name and fame when he isn’t there to entertain anymore. I hope that wherever Richey are, he’s happy with his decision and live his life as he want to live it, and not under the pressure of society, nor anymore. ~ I wish him all peace and comfort ~ miss you Richey. ..
I'm reading the book right now, and I'm feeling in the exact same way. Reading the quotes of his letters, and all of those stories of his friends makes me feel like he was one of my beloved friends. And it feels very hard thinking about what happened to him. I try to think that it was his decision to run away from his life and he was happy with it. I hope he's healthy and happy and he is in peace and calmness in his mind and heart...
Watching him, you do wonder what's going through his head. Something of a lost soul, but he has a voice and an audience to speak to. Did anyone really know him?
Do you have more of their videos live in Phoenix 1993? I used to see this exact or similar videos of them back then before TH-cam deleted all the inactive channels. Especially from the crowd perspective
Oh man, I remember this gig. I felt so sorry for the boys. The sound crew mixed up the guitars as Richey's was supposed to be really low due his parts just being for show. But by accident Richey's got turned up more to match James's volume. Completely confirming that Richey couldn't actually play . Thank god for the out of view live keyboard player.
dude.. he could play rhythm guitar fine.. check this out.. the only guitar you can hear is Richey: th-cam.com/video/1xQ0kQhob2E/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=valleygirl18de
One of the best songs ever made
True
Man it's true. Just wish they re-recorded it back in the day.
Verdade. Obra prima
Indeed
There is nothing like it.
The song that made me finally realise how great they really were. Overwhelming.
they still do
Love that cheeky little change of the lyrics from “From feudal serf to spender” to “From feudal serf to festival goer.” Brilliant.
Richey looks absolutely beautiful and Nicky looks… well… he’s dressed like a middle aged housewife in the 1960s…
First time I've seen this.
Can hear Richey's scratching guitar high in the mix

they would had been way better with second guitar

there speaks a non-guitarist, how good the song could be with a decent second guitar

Richey so cool!!!
Saw them live just a few night ago and they sounded better than ever. This song though takes me back to my freshman year of college driving around by myself, windows down, just listening to this album on permanent repeat.
Amazing ❤
Really? Need to see them again! Saw them in 2003 and 2016.
I seen them the same year in Tipperary Ireland, going to see them in Dublin July 2 2024, 31 years later

31 anni ammazza come passa il tempo. ho ancora il cd, per me motorcycle rimane la canzone dei manic
I love the manics ...always will...thankyou...❤❤
My heart breaks for Richey. His discomfort is palpable.
Watching him, you do wonder what's going through his head. Something of a lost soul, but he has a voice and an audience to speak to. Did anyone really know him?
He kind of reminds me of Syd Barret from Pink Floyd in a way.
@@LuciusDriftwood Why the flip do you come up as David Mitchell?
@@nicholamc2629 There is more than 1 David Mitchell in this world, princess. No, I don't know Robert Webb
@@LuciusDriftwood Not an answer but fine.

Wow
No había podido oír la guitarra de Richey tan claramente en un video de ellos en vivo
Brano bellissimo e poi La band al completo un vero spettacolo

Música fenomenal de uma das bandas mais inteligentes e capazes no mundo da música

The female keyboard player?
He's playing fine. Nothing fancy but he's definitely playing.

I think this is my fav. live version. Sounds raw.
Hardly though. He played, the chords are right. There is a volume knob on guitars.
Who’s playing the keys? Someone offstage?
Dave Eringa, their producer.
Watching after Glastonbury set. Amazing
