Viewed from the UK Vermont looks very like the UK! I guess the region is called "New England" for a reason. That state always makes me think of "Moonlight on Vermont" by Captain Beefheart.
Russ; thanks for the videos on Vermont ...i am heading to the twin states later this summer ... thanks for giving me some places to explore ... Happy Riding
My wife and I are "trails only" riders and New England has some amazing ones. Island Rail Trail is still one of our very favorites.... there's nothing quite like it.
Hope you're going to check out the local gravel. There are some GREAT roads with very little traffic and you don't have to get far out of town. Also worth checking out App Gap and Lincoln Gap if you're up for a little climbing.
Ha,ha. As we say, « there’s two seasons in Montreal: winter and road construction! » So be prepared to cycle around orange pylons but there is a nice growing network of paths that goes to Laurentian mountains (Petit train du nord) a nice recreation area full of lakes. Riding from Vermont shoulder be very pleasant though.
As a long-time Burlington cyclist, come November you'll have to wait at least 4 months before it will change to accommodate cycling for the 95%. Yes, it *can* be done year-round for a hardy few, but 5 degrees and 5" of snow on the roads very much differentiate Burlington bike culture from Portland (OR).
@@scottdecker7681 We can ride on and off during the winter months in Dallas. February will be our worst weather, usually. June, July, August are very Hot. Yesterday is was in the mid-nineties. Thunderstorm last night, then cooler today... did some riding early afternoon. Immediately headed back in late afternoon for a tornado watch. You know what they say - "if you don't like the weather, just wait and it'll change". :)
Used to work at Old Spokes. Too bad they didn't empower their employees with a livable wage. They have a great reputation and do some good work but thanks to mismanagement and the nature of bike shop work we never had benefits or adequate compensation that everyone deserves.
If Old Spokes Home could get approval from Marvel Entertainment, I think they should do it. I would like to see the company create a caricature of Stan Lee wearing tights and a cape while riding a bicycle. That would be awesome on a t-shirt.
The mission for old spokes home, i believe is something we all need to live by to empower our fellow humans ... On a side note, Russ, I just cant hold back, I have a small complaint; your volume seems to be a little loud, especially with the BG/filler music, maybe its just my system, but it seems to be common problem with your videos. Its a real minor complaint and won't keep me from watching your awesome content; whatever the case keep it up!
Ah, my home town. Glad to see they are extending and improving the already awesome trails with such a down-home feel. Kudos to The Old Spokes Home !
The old spokes home, how amazing. It makes me happy and gives me hope. Beautiful ride too.
Is there some sort of index site or subreddit for finding out if there's a Coffee Outside in one's area?
Russ has one on the Path Less Pedaled website.
you laugh more in one morning than I do all year, I think I need to get into biking
Great video. Burlington has always had a thriving bicycle scene because of the students. A beautiful city, wish I could afford to live there.
Great video. Coffee and bikes. Great recipe for a good day out, and such a cool idea. There should be more events like this everywhere 😃

I'm a little jelly of this. Awesome bike culture. Coming up where I live. Thankful for C&O/GAP!
Oh cool! I live very close! The Island Line Trail is wonderful! I hope you make it back to the area someday and we can go for a ride!

Very nice collection of bicycles and bike personalities.

Great info about old spokes.
Alright Russ, Now you have to come to Fort Collins, CO and see what Northern Colorado has stashed away.
Next trip :)
@@PathLessPedaledTV You would have several people on board to ride and show you around!
Clicked to see a cool Bernie shirt. Wasn't disappointed!
Whelp, thanks Russ, you've just confirmed that I'm going to take a Maine-Vermont Bikey Road trip long weekend soon.
Looks cool for sure. thanks for sharing!
Nice overview... I have friends who just moved to VT... I'll have to add Old Spokes to my travel list.
It’s great. Also a good taco joint not too far away from there!
This is great. I went to college in nearby Montreal, so this brings back some memories. Did the locals say anything about cycling routes to Montreal?
Nothing specific, but they mentioned there was a great cycling scene there.

Cool vid. Had a smile on my face watching it.

Love the Bernie ona Bike t-shirt! Bernie 2020!
Another great video. Thanks for doing this.
I am so heading up there for one of these, it is just the next state over!!!
For half the video I forgot you were in Vermont, and thought it was Portland. A compliment towards Burlington?
Great to see you in New England. Also not a bad region for #bikefishing
Loving the Vermont oriented content!
"slightly drizzling" - no, this is not the new bike mecca :p Love the shop and the tower.

Speaking of Portland weather, what's the best way to keep gear dry, even during sustained rain events where water can get everywhere?
Spray everything with 3M water repellent
Old Spokes - great stuff
Russ please make video about tips on positioning a hoods on a dropbar 😊
What was that double decker beast of a carbo bike?
Xtracycle Edgerunner, set up for hauling two kids (8 & 5), plus coffee supplies.
What company is that blue electric bike?
Good one Russ! 👍
So what's happened to Portland in the last 10 years? How is it no longer "a funky bike town?" Curious.

How does a Kiwi wind up in Vermont?!
As a kiwi myself I wondered the same ...
Late to the game but loved this episode
@9:46 Old Spokes Home cool!
It’s Pan-Yay!!
super beautiful mate!!
This is very 😎

Awesome to see a Tern GSD there.
Pretty sure it is a Cero One actually... if it is Parker's bike from coffee outside.
Liam's correct, it's a Cero One! #CarReplacement cero.bike/cero-one/
Oooops, I stand corrected.
Minneapolis, MN
@11:20 mobile repair bike! Yes!
Does anyone know where those Bernie on the bike shirts would be available?
That shirt is from the last campaign... my friend who made them might be doing another run this time around. TBD.
time to move to vermont
Don't forget to bring a lot of money.
Winter is very long in VT. The price you pay for the beautiful but short Spring, Summer & Autumn.
