Have I ever had any OTHER kind of dog? I wouldn't remember because it wasn't a Chicago-style dog! I'm not a fan of the peppers, but only because I made up my mind without trying them, but, SOMEONE here is obsessed with them ... a little ... so I'll be sure to try them next time. Thanks.
Great video! Thanks. Wanted to mention for the out-of-towners, Gene & Jude's located at 2720 N River Rd, River Grove, IL (a western suburb of Chicago). If you happen to find yourself on the actual "northwest side of Chicago" the spot to try is Jeff's Red Hots at 3901 N Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL. Jeff's was featured on 'Chicago's Best' TV program hosted by Britney Payton (Walter Payton's daughter) for best chili dog. 😉
SuperDawg is my personnel favorite. If you ask for Ketch on the side for your fries they will give it to you, no problem! thank you for the great content!
Nice video guys. I thoroughly enjoyed your take on the local hot dogs and will try to visit each of these fine establishments the next time I am in town. Keep up the great work! Also, you two work so well together.
I discovered Vienna Beef hot dogs some years ago when I went to Las Vegas (to visit my money). My hotel had a hot dog stand in their lobby where I ate nothing but hot dogs for lunch for a whole week. They were the BEST! I still salivate from their memory.
The dog at SuperDog is slightly bigger and more spices like garlic in the meat. Plus the green tomato is pickled. It’s my fave Chicago Dog. For fun’s sake, the original Chicago Dog was the depression dog. Mustard, onions, relish, and a heaping load of fries on top. Gene and Jude’s is my fave for that. Loved this video. Glad I found your channel. If you’re Chicago based may I suggest checking out Number Six With Cheese? Their Channel is Chicago based and they may be fun to do a collab with. Have a great week y’all.
Hot dog stands can be found on most street corners in the Windy City. They all serve real Chicago style red hots, which include all-beef Vienna hot dogs in natural casings, steamed poppy seed buns, and toppings that include yellow mustard, bright green pickle relish, chopped onions and sport peppers. Some also add celery salt and tomatoes. But NEVER ketchup!
Love me a Chicago dog. Agree with the comment about Superdawg's being thicker and having a bit more flavor. They are the best. My only complaint is that all Chicago dogs are steamed or boiled instead of grilled. I still get one every time I am in Chicago.
No one ever does the Chicago polish sausage, only the hot dogs. Be the first to do one, but my advice is never eat your polish before eating your hot dog. The polish has tremendous flavor that will drown out the flavor of the dog.
Polish sausage is great! We wanted to focus only on the hot do here, keep it simple. So many people travel to Chicago and they all want to try the Chicago dog.
That makes a lot of sense now, regarding the ketchup. Here I was always thinking the default everyday hot dog for a Chicagoan was with only mustard & maybe some relish and the 'Chicago dog' was what one would get on occasion, like to treat yourself. Never realized the Chicago dog is the default everyday hot dog. My only version of a Chicago dog was from Portillo's that I grew up 5 miles away from (not the one near Disneyland). How does their Chicago dog rank? Legit or na? I saw a video last night of a knock-off In N Out place in Indiana called 'California Burger' that looked plain disrespectful so I would understand if I'm told Portillos ain't it, although I do like it.
Portillo’s is great, we were thinking of featuring it but then we went with more classics. We had in and out when we were in Las Vegas, it was good. The fries were 🔥
I use to go to Chicago for their food on business trips, but the crime has gotten so bad in that city that you really do risk your life just venturing out to try food in places. It is a shame really.
Packing the fries on top of the hot dog and wrapped in paper is a horrible idea and I don't go back to those who do. The fries destroy the bun to mush, depending how fast you want to start eating it. If you take it home the bun is really shot. Fries should be wrapped separately.
Ill give you the Vienna store, Ill give you Superdawg, I'll give Gene and Judes, but Jim's and Wolfys? hell no, Portillos is better than Jims or Wolfys, you also forgot Johnnies, Mickey's, etc... all of which are far better than Jim's or Wolfy's
One of our favorite go to foods! Have you ever had a Chicago dog?

Well, I may have had one or 2. I grew up there! They are THE BEST! Along with our pizza. Eat your heart of NYC!!
Really nice job, told like true Chicagoans!
Portillo's.
When I lived in the Chicagoland area I always drove to gene and judes.i drove 80 miles one time to eat there hot dogs they are the best
Really 80 miles for an overrated hotdog, must have been when gas only costs .43 cents a gallon
I typically can't swing up into Chicago while passing from 57 to 94 so I will usually hit a Portillos, which is fantastic.
Portillos is still great, they do a great job with the Chicago dog ❤️
if ya can't get a real one, i GUESS 'Tillos WOULD BE OK
Great video! Thanks.

Gene and Jude’s hands down for me
Fantastic local food man...like it
thank you!
What is the address of the best hot dogs in Chicago Illinois USA 💯
you really need to try the hot dogs at tonys beef on Pulaski...... delish for the Southside
....from poppyseed bun to sport peppers ... 😁
Adding it to the list! Thank you 😊
That's one of my favorite spots. Like 10min away from me. Amazing dogs, Italian beef and my favorite their breaded steak sandwich.
Jeez Before we moved in 94 that was my place
Love the enthusiasm. It clearly shows you two love Chicago dogs. My only access to them is through Shake Shack, but they’ve discontinued them 😕.
Or you can MAKE ONE yourself!
The dog at SuperDog is slightly bigger and more spices like garlic in the meat. Plus the green tomato is pickled. It’s my fave Chicago Dog.

We always end up going over and over to Gene and Jude’s, so so good! We till thank you! 😊
I like their content. I just wish they would come to the south side more instead of just sticking mainly to the north side.
When I get back to the city it’s gotta be gene and judes plus I like to stop by Russell’s bbq down the street
Those are all good hot dog stands but I live out in Carol Stream. We got a few out here that are pretty good.
Go west on North Avenue to Scoobys in West Chicago.
@@acemulligan7010 Bigger problem. I moved to Arizona.
@@BansheeFifteen Portillo's has locations in Phoenix and Tucson which is good enough when you live outside Chicagoland.
Almost got a job at Vienna there out of college in 1980s…good times…went to Ford instead
Gene and Jude’s is the best in Chicago. Lots of really good places, but for me it’s Gene and Jude’s. Jimmy’s is really good also.
I'm eating Jimmys right now wondering what could possibly be better😂
Big time overrated

On the Northside only
Some add a pickle slice also. "Run it through the garden!"

There's some spots that will charge grill your dog. One of my favorites is Weiner Circle on the north side.
No one ever does the Chicago polish sausage, only the hot dogs. Be the first to do one, but my advice is never eat your polish before eating your hot dog. The polish has tremendous flavor that will drown out the flavor of the dog.

Hot dogs are my favorite
You can pick up a legit Chicago hot dog in any Home Depot.
true
Home Depot has hot dogs?
@@Gus7-d8othey’ve always had them in Chicago
@@khiarieverett9658 Chicago style or plain?...I have to try them
@@Gus7-d8o both
what! no Weiner Circle?
That ones is great also, we need to do a part 2 😊

I agree too messy for a first date.
Instead go for Italian beef!!
Are you serious about saying it’s not spicy I never finish the whole thing it’s spicy for me an I’m Mexican 😂😂😂
Jim's!
Drag it through the garden
That’s the best way
I Love Portillo's.
SuperDawg is # 1 for me.
That’s always our fav go to, the fries are the best!
You guys must make over 6 digits a year to pay for overpriced hotdogs
Sad to see mustards last stand isn’t on here
That place is good ❤️, we’re thinking of making part 2
👍
I use to go to Chicago for their food on business trips, but the crime has gotten so bad in that city that you really do risk your life just venturing out to try food in places. It is a shame really.
I make hot dogs for lunch all the time. I use either Vienna or Nathan's. And they NEVER taste as good as the ones at an old fashioned hot dog stand!
I'm confused. What else besides a paper bag would it come in?
Plastic grocery-bag style, with the store logo imprinted on it, or some generic food-related image?
Southwest not Nothwest..

lol thats the way Chicago dogs are SUPPOSED to be served. anyone not wrapping the fries with the hot dog is doing it WRONG.
That's ok if you like a mushy bun and fries. I don't.
I thought the Chicago style was what's inside the dog and not extend to the wrapper. lol
@@Lee-qp6gf its all of it
Jims is known for polish…. Wtf gets a hot dog. Also the fries there are for the birds

Jean and Jude’s overrated and Super Dawg is way expensive
There is NO SUCH THING as a best Chicago hot dog!!!! Garbage food on the CHEEP!!
