  • In this SolidWORKS 2017 design tutorial video for CAR DESIGN, we create multiple surface sweeps through profile and guide curves. Basic surface and trim options are used to create outer surfaces of sedan car. No blueprints are required for this car model.

    Is there a reason why not to just mirror everything at the end and make 1/2 of the car?

      Hello, there is no specific reason to not make half car. However, I think it would have taken same amount of time in this case to build half car or full car.
      Also, while making half car, I need to be sure to make splines properly so that I don't have a unwanted center line on the final car.

      Hello, the first sketches and sweeps are slow, and later on they are fast forwarded as it is a repetitive task.
      The idea of the video is to show the technique rather than step by step tutorial.
