TH-cam just recommended this video, and I must say there are not a lot of DS Mobile videos out there. So thank you for your wonderful work of spreading the knowledge of a wonderful relic of a bygone era. DS Mobile is actually my first Dead Space game, maybe even my first horror game, after I got my first gaming capable smartphone. I was scared to death in my first play through, but this game is so good that I ended up 100% it. I still clearly remember getting achievements in game will unlock new wallpapers, and the last one is a promotional cover art for Dead Space 2 only unlocked upon completing all achievements. Even though the number of Necromorphs is smaller, the rooms are also smaller and there are more frequent lockdowns, so the Necromorph density is actually quite high. Not to mention the quality and amount of mind tricks from the influence of the Marker. There might be more mind tricks in this mobile game than in any main line Dead Space game. And the plasma saw is a really well designed tool-weapon that fits perfectly into the lore of Dead Space and also touch control. Now I am working on Impossible difficulty play through of Dead Space Remake, to think it all begins with one day I decide to take a look at a mobile game that is often forgotten by many Dead Space fans.
To this day still playing it and even making content out of it. The gameplay, the scares, the tension, and the visuals is what makes this for me one of the best sci-fi horror experiences on mobile.
You have to remember that this game came out in like 2010 - the same time when Angry Birds, Temple Run and Infinity Blade were completely changing the mobile landscape. The developments you're naming about mobile gaming really took off much later on, even though there are still some excellent mobile titles

what an incredible achievement in mobile gaming. I played the SHIT out of this back in 2011-2012 when I didn't have a console or PC to play the mainline games on, and even after I'd played through dead space 1 and 2 entirely, I was still impressed by Vandal's story and the gameplay of DS mobile. also, I'm absolutely loving the dead space revival going on right now!

It's one of my favourite mobile games ever thank you for covering it!! I also want to add that there's a ps vita port of it that runs BEAUTIFULLY and lets you experience it with controller-esque controls!
Literally my first Dead Space game. As a kid who's parents were never going to buy him a console but was obsessively intruiged by the Dead Space universe, this game (and the movie) were a God-send.
Dude, I used to have this on my iPod. It basically felt like a PS2 version of Dead Space. The controls where solid, simple, and the game was genuinely fun; it didn't felt like a cheap port, but like an actual Dead Space game well fitted for mobile
this was the first mobile game i ever paid money on back when i was like 14, best 2,49€ i ever spent. Funnily enough, this was my first Dead Space game, after i played through this game like 5 times, i finally dared to play the first Dead Space on Pc which was also my very first Horror Game. Needless to say, this series holds a special place in my heart.
I remember playing this while staying the night at my late great grandmothers house. I remember I was young and felt so accomplished after beating it and wished it was longer.
My dad still has an iPad gen 4, I think, that has a copy of this game that is just sitting in there. I remember playing this and being absolutely terrified when I was younger

@@SSJdavey yea the dead space movies and the resident evil movies were scary af back then gave me nightmares not gonna lie prob shouldn't have watched them
This and Gun Bros will be my two most favourite Mobile games of all time, both of which are so opposite in both design and business model but are still all-time classics. Really miss the time when quality mobile games where all over the market. Sure, most of their business models relied on the, at the time new and revolutionary "freemium gaming' model but even those were better than 90% of what's offered nowadays. And the lenght studios went to flashing out paid games was just "chef kiss"...man, I miss this era so much.
I'm still, even to this day mad about the fact that I never was able to finish this game when I played it on my IPod. The day EA removed the game from the store, was the day the game became unplayable & I was at the last chapter of the game. It was actually a well made mobile game, that had pretty good scares & made me remember why I loved the first 2 Dead Space games so much. I'm not sure if there is any other way to play this mobile game. but it still sucks that I was never able to finish it, when I was near the end of the game.
This and HAWX mobile (from ubisoft) are really cool games from the initial android era, both feel like "Lite" or decent ports from known IPs to the mobile sistems
I loved the fact it had a round base mode I used to play it non stop during school, really wished they kept that in with the later entries like DS3 or the Remake so you of kept playing even after you got all the achievements, but the Remake is incredible so it makes up for it.
Considering this is one of the few mobile games I actually remember playing and loving, means something. I have never played the actual games because when I was younger I wasn't allowed to play videos games or have a console, one of these days I get one
It truly did peak only a few years after the app store came out. I still have good memories of playing Dead Space and Mass Effect on my iPod Touch. Other notables are Infinity Blade and a lot of Gameloft rip offs that were actually decent games that pushed mobile gaming forward and had more content than most mobile games today. At one point they even had the full Bioshock on iOS. The most disappointing thing is that modern smartphones can play PS3 - PS4 level games but no one makes the effort. I know some people really hate games like Genshin Impact, but they at least are willing to release a game that actually utilizes modern hardware.
I never forgot this game, but only now I remember how the church tricks you and all of that A-grade set-up. This was the best mobile game I played, hands down. Awesome way to start a game. Awesome. I'm going to try and put this onto my hacked Nintendo Switch.
I wonder if she ever booted it up to see what it was like? Remember those dead space 2 ads where it was "mom's hate it" could have put that to the test!
I wish they found a way to get these games optimized for future tech. I feel like one of the few people who beat Bioshock when it was on iOS and tbh it worked really well on an iPhone 5. I miss it
I vividly remember the doppelganger seen scaring the crap out of me as a young kid. I was like finally another person then got the life jump scared out of me. I was hoping he would either mention or show it and he did both
Way ahead of its time. One of few mobile game that is actually great. I played it on all my ios devices at the time. Playing it on a larger ipad is almost as good as on console and tv, minus the graphics of cuz. Great review.
Damn. I trued getting this to work in an android desktop instance and had an awful time. Is your phone jailbroken, or can you install apks on stock firmware?
Damn, I remember that game from like, 10 years ago... I've never played any game of the Dead Space series except this one, and as a kid I found this one to be absolutely terrifying at time, yet I couldn't stop playing it, went through a few playthroughs back in the day... This is the kind of mobile game that shows the medium can be great, something else than Candy Crush etc
Thank you for this great review! Recently talked with my friends about this hidden gem and i was really baffled that basically noone talks about this Dead Space. But its really not that easy to get to know about the game & play it nowadays as it was back then.
Oh man, I remember playing this on my Ipod Touch as a young teen. It scared me to death, but I loved it a ton. It was my first Dead Space game, though I had watched playthroughs of Dead Space and Dead Space 2 at the time. I remember there was this glitch I encountered in the mobile game where the game kept duplicating my node count for some reason, and I was able to max out all my gear and equipment really early on in the game thanks to that. Thanks for linking the APK for it, gonna relive some memories. And after, think I'm gonna start a fresh run of Dead Space 2.
Dead space has been my favorite game for years. I played it when I was 9 and loved it. Watched the anime countless times. Hell even bought the books. This mobile game was amazing on the iPhone 4 I played it for hours when I was 11. Now here I am playing the hell out of the Dead Space remake.
I might be wrong. But I've heard here and there around DS community, that there's an fan-made remastered version of this game (supposedly to be compatible with newer devices). Might look around later to see if it even exists. Especially since my first time playing this game was on a bad phone where audio was completely broken and during some quarantines it'd lag and sometimes even crash. Good times.
I found the APK for Dead Space Mobile here:

After playing remake it might give you the drive to play the others, 2 in particular is exceptional 👌
@@SSJdavey I can only hope haha
i loved this in high school man, this era of iOS games was next level
Dude, I used to have this on my iPod. It basically felt like a PS2 version of Dead Space. The controls where solid, simple, and the game was genuinely fun; it didn't felt like a cheap port, but like an actual Dead Space game well fitted for mobile
It goes to show what happens when a studio really tries to bring a franchise to a new platform. They did such a good job 👏
It was years ahead of its time but god damn was it a battery killer your phone/ipod would go from 100-0 in like 8 minutes 😂😂
this was the first mobile game i ever paid money on back when i was like 14, best 2,49€ i ever spent.
Nifty, I always wanted to play it but I got into dead space like 3 years after it was removed, I actually watch both movies without even knowing there was a game back when they came out.
No way! Thats wild
@@SSJdavey yea the dead space movies and the resident evil movies were scary af back then gave me nightmares not gonna lie prob shouldn't have watched them
Oh WOW, I totally played this, and completely forgot about it. Thanks for helping me relive some memories.
This is the first video of you that I watch and I love it!. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks for checking me out 🍻
This and Gun Bros will be my two most favourite Mobile games of all time, both of which are so opposite in both design and business model but are still all-time classics.
That does suck 😭
There's a few ways to play it today, I've pinned the site I found mine but there's a few places that have it 👌
Remember playing through this game twice on my iPhone 3GS
I remember playing this game on my xperia play, my phone felt like my phone was a proper portable gaming console with how quality this game is!
Wish this get a PC release or switch release just so that it be accessible,
This and HAWX mobile (from ubisoft) are really cool games from the initial android era, both feel like "Lite" or decent ports from known IPs to the mobile sistems
honestly love the vibe the text, graphics everything just reminds me of a ps2 game
Yeah now you mention it I can see it 😍
Playing this and bioshock on mobile was absolutely out mobile was absolutely outstanding
I played this game as a kid back in 2012/13 i don't remember ethe exact plot but i remember the amazing gameplay.
I completely forgot this was a game. And being a huge dead space fan, I must play it now. Time to dig up my ipod touch from 2009.
I loved the fact it had a round base mode I used to play it non stop during school, really wished they kept that in with the later entries like DS3 or the Remake so you of kept playing even after you got all the achievements, but the Remake is incredible so it makes up for it.
Man i remmember this game, first dead space game and loved it
i used to play this on my ipod on the bus at school every day, it was really good
I remember the time when vandal walks closer to herself and it becomes a necro as being one of the times I’ve been really terrified by a jumpscare
Got me too!
I loved this game back in the day
I played this game on my dads iPad when I was younger, absolute childhood treasure
As a quick mention, the homebrew PS Vita scene managed to port this game with native controller support. It's pretty awesome
Loved this game on my IPhone 4s. The phone and game were new during my freshman year. So much fun 👌🏻
Just finished my play through of the remake after doing all 3 and I never knew this existed, glad I have another dead space to play
I remember playing Dead Space on mobile and damn, it's one of the greatest mobile games ever. Felt like playing the pc version
I had this game on my moms iPad and I LOVED it, it’s actually what got me into dead space
I wonder if she ever booted it up to see what it was like? Remember those dead space 2 ads where it was "mom's hate it" could have put that to the test!
@@SSJdavey she definitely wouldn’t have a been a fan 😂
I wish they found a way to get these games optimized for future tech. I feel like one of the few people who beat Bioshock when it was on iOS and tbh it worked really well on an iPhone 5. I miss it
Bioshock came to phones!? I missed out on that!
@@SSJdavey yeah back in like 2014, but they removed it the following year
This game actually had some pretty clever horror moments. The infinite hallway and the doppelganger segments were actually quite terrifying.
4:25 and this is why we play with subtitles on
Damn. I trued getting this to work in an android desktop instance and had an awful time. Is your phone jailbroken, or can you install apks on stock firmware?
I can install APKs on my phone no problem, its not jailbroken or anything. The joys of an android I guess?
Damn, I remember that game from like, 10 years ago... I've never played any game of the Dead Space series except this one, and as a kid I found this one to be absolutely terrifying at time, yet I couldn't stop playing it, went through a few playthroughs back in the day...
This is the kind of mobile game that shows the medium can be great, something else than Candy Crush etc
"Mobile gaming peaked in 2011"
Don't forget Infinity Blade 2, the greatest mobile game ever
Never played it! Worth going back to it?
Unfortunately removed from the app store
I played this game for a while last year. Never finished it but at least I played a Dead Space game. Quite an experience for a mobile game.
Was that your first one? If you havnt played it yet I'd recommend checking out the remake of #1. It's great
Watching a friend at school play this game is actually what got me into this franchise. I fell in love with this world because of this entry
Played the game on my dads iPad and gawd damn. Love that twist at the end
God I remember playing the dead space and mass effect mobile game all the time. Them plus infinity blade was the peak for mobile games.
This was actually my first Dead Space experience
This game was incredible it was its own thing! Basically an entire AAA game
On a phone. Had a nexus 7 and played it for days!! What a blast!
Dead space has been my favorite game for years. I played it when I was 9 and loved it. Watched the anime countless times. Hell even bought the books. This mobile game was amazing on the iPhone 4 I played it for hours when I was 11. Now here I am playing the hell out of the Dead Space remake.
What are the books like? That's the only media I've missed from the series
Good times.
i would sneak into my dads room and steal his ipad to play this game over and over in the middle of the night with my brother.
God damn bet that was scary as hell as a kid 😅
his footsteps are the same audio that is used for Lara croft’s footsteps in Tomb Raider Legend
No way! That's an awesome piece of trivia 👏
@@SSJdavey yeah i play tomb raider legend a lot still to this day so it was the immediate thing i noticed
