    I wanted a agent smith dialogue / Nemesis type of encounter with Ferris. I could see it now lights off & you hear him softly but sadistically calling you inmate & id number at times in the game. I would have loved sum world & character buidling with being a prisoner among other prisoners before the outbreak.

    It just needed to cook for a few more months. If there's a sequel, hopefully the Devs go all "Mass Effect 2," on it and it becomes 100x better.

      @@SSJdavey this game already is a number 2.
      It's a letdown. Just the sheer amount of vents and tight spaces you slowly creep through, the number of 'gotcha' enemies in boxes and those annoying QTE worm neck guys makes the game unplayable for a second time.

    22:00 best approach is to drop GRP batteries bcus they are only worth 10 credits, then drop Health packs because you rarely need them and they are only worth 100 credits. Then use all the other space for ammo and contraband to sell. I always had enough inventory space when I did this. I liked that the small inventory meant you had to choose.

    23:00 quickselect is left dpad button. Easily swap between two weapons. I had pistol and shotty, and quickly swapped during combat. This was after the quick reload patch though.

    I kinda have to disagree with the combat, tbh.
    Obviously YMMV, but I didn't really have a problem figuring out the system and was able to breeze through the game after I got the GRP, to me the combat was just.... boring. Stick goes left, Stick goes right, RT RT RT, stick goes left, stick goes right, RT RT RT. The sheer frenzy of the animations on screen just didn't translate to me while I was playing the game and quite honestly GRP was broken since you could start a fight and immediately insta kill half the enemies if you have your GRP leveled up.
    In Dead Space, you need to use Stasis to keep enemies off you, but it doesn't actually deal with said enemies. Telekinesis has unlimited uses, but can only really be used to kill the Necromorphs if you've already severed some limbs or there's something in the environment for you to use. GRP is just "Start the fight, kill three guys with one button, good to go".
    Also, Callisto Protocol is the only game I've ever played where I enabled the option to skip mechanics. The mashing whenever you get grabbed is just so gratuitous that after four or five chapters I finally just turned it off and it improved the game immensely.

    Doesn't matter which side they are attacking from as long as you are holding/pressing left or right you will dodge the attack.

      I've always reacted and held the opposite side. Are you 100% on that!? I'm sure I've been hit when I've held the same side....
      If anything my dodge guide is actually harder than the real thing if that's the case 😅🤣🤣

      @@SSJdavey I don't understand how so many people thought dodge was complicated like you did. Must have made the game a lot harder than it needed to be.

      @@SSJdavey Yeah, I think the fact that even you got it wrong just speaks volumes about how poorly explained it is, and how it goes against a player's natural instincts for a dodge mechanic lol. Such a poorly designed system...I can see what they were going for but they really, really just did not execute it well at all.
      State of Decay 2 is a great example of a much, much more fleshed out melee system. Dozens more attack animations, dozens more finisher animations, dodging is a button you need to time instead of a "hold movement to auto-dodge", you have stamina so you can't just spam dodge or wail into enemies without strategy, and even as your character levels up their melee skills you switch to an entirely new set of attack + finisher animations that look more masterful and are quicker to perform, making you actually feel and perform stronger instead of just a barebones damage bump.
      I think Callisto's "mike tyson's punch out" melee system really suffers from the mindlessness of it (no real strategy, just mash attacks, hold auto dodge, mash attacks, rinse n repeat. You don't even have like, a shove or anything.), lack of variety (the same like, 5 attack anims and 1 or 2 finisher anims), and the sponginess of enemies (you just wail on them forever with no thought, strategy, or real danger until you finally tick their invisible HP bar down to zero. It feels so artificial and makes the already mind-numbingly boring, repetitive, and mindless melee combat drag ooooooon)

      Its wild, I played the entire game essentially handicapping myself and then when I did my NG+ review I realised what everyone was on about and could see how bare bones the dodge is. So wild that they create the game to be melee focussed and then make it as deep as a puddle

    I feel like the developers how do I put this we're trying to make a good story some of the concepts are good The problem is like you said it feels rushed very rushed
    It's like in Dead the marker's the cult/Church they we're just sprinklers that the devs develop just enough for you to get a general idea of what they are
    In the sequels 2 and 3 we learn a lot more about them
    I feel callesto what's to do with what dead space did with the Markers and the cult but instead rushed everything to get a squeal it feels like they were holding back on what they could have done

    Good review man with some solid points. I'm a little more favorable but have some similar criticisms. I played on Xbox One X and had very little Performance problem. Overall a very smooth ride. I've always been lucky with bugs and Performance somehow lol.

      @@SSJdavey Yeah I have a review planned. My plans kinda got messed up. I Got sick for the kast week and was struggling with losing my voice for a bit prior to that. I took a break around the hollidays. So I have plans to return soon with some videos and definitely one on Callisto as soon as I fully recover and get back in a good position mentally, Physically, and with my voice.

    I loved Callisto protocol i hope they get the opportunity to make a sequel because there’s so much potential here I’m hoping the dlc continues the story in a good way

      You're right there is a lot of potential, I do hope striking distance knock it out of the park with the dlc, but we'll have to wait and see 🤞

      On more than one level. One I heard DLC was not very good (to put it mildly).
      Two: the publisher was cutting losses with the SDS, Glen left the ship. What I do not get is why they focused on presentation so much and known names. They used 165M $ budget and publisher expected 5M copies to be sold (does this rings a bell?)

    My biggest issue with the melee combat was that it was very boring. Watching Jacob do the same five hit animations the whole game got boring. When you first get the pistol, you quickly realize you’ll rarely get ammo for it, and it doesn’t do shit damage. Because of this I only upgraded the melee and the grip. Around the halfway point this changes with more guns and ammo, but by that time your melee is so strong that I rarely used them. The advantage was is I had a bunch of bullets for the end game, but it just wasn’t fun to go from room to room and beat things with a stick. Especially because like you said, that’s the whole game. There is no variety.

      I was a fan of the skunk gun and that took me through alot of the experience but unfortunately you still have to rely on melee which is...what it is... 🙃

    After watching a recent playthrough of The Evil Within by @MR.GSTAR123 .. God bless him wherever he is..I hope he's well..
    And truly analyzing that game.. and all it's gameplay mechanics and level designs , creature designs , and character designs.. The Evil Within is a rollercoaster ride from hell from which the likes of you can not escape from.. It pulls you in and doesn't let go.. Your Ammo conservation , using stealth mechanics to your advantage , for a flight or fight instinct that's hammered into your sub conscious.. enemies hit hard and swarm in numbers.. and they don't wait thier turn to attack. And it's literally a 100 ways to die.. You're run and sprint speeds are limited for a short period of time until you can upgrade your duration speed by using precious resources. Resources that need to be thinly spreaded around your entire inventory and attributes ladder upgrade system.. A robust system that you will not 100% fully upgrade on your 1st playthrough.
    It's like Shinji Mikami took Everything he learned from creating RE 4 and RE 1 remake and cranked it up to a BILLION !!! With added inspiration from films like , Inception , The Shinning , and a dash of Silent Hill is thrown in there for good measure.. And the essence of 1st Dead Space is in thier as well.. especially with the cinematics..
    TCP is just all around a lack luster , and lazy dumpster 🔥 of a game. It fails to invoke an innovative thrilling , controller gripping , narrative driven survival horror experience. That engulfs you into it's world.. It feels baron , a void of personality and individualism.. with a innovative storyline that we can sink our teeth into..
    Which is strangest shit because the Creators and developers of TCP created the Dead Space franchise..
    In The Callisto Protocol. Thier are only 3 main enemies you face throughout the entire game... 3!!!!! In comparison look how many threats you face in the Dead Space franchise , RE 1 remake , The Evil Within? Hell even RE 4!! And Silent Hill..
    I just don't understand.. Keep in my mind that's just 1 glaring issue out of countless issues that's wrong with TCP..
    And PC players I'm sorry you paid full price for this abomination 😔

      Yeah, they made a game about an alien virus on a moonbase prison, and the *best* enemy designs they could fit into this mysterious and interesting setting was....unreal engine marketplace looking stock zombie mooks. You have zombie, spitting zombie, and big boss zombie with 2 heads. The only enemy in this game that even remotely has anything interesting or unique about it is the spidery guys that can go invisible. They really needed way more of that, and way less of that "zombies but in space!" nonsense.

    You won't always dodge it though. The guy does the dodge animation but gets hit anyway. That was my entire hour with the game. Maybe he'd dodge but probably not.

    6:00 agreed, the writing on the wall was dumb. Why would anyone write a big message on the wall with blood. Surely they are worried about their own survival, not some random future person. And did they have a bucket of blood and a brush just laying around? It's really dumb glen copied that exactly from dead space, it just invites more comparison to dead space which is a bad thing when it's not as good. He shouldn't have copied interface and stomp from dead space, it would have been easy to make these look completely different and not invite dead space comparison.

    I’m going to hold you to that when digital foundry release their best game graphics of the year in a week about Callisto Protocol being the best looking game of this generation, I mean it does look outstanding but the game is the definition of linearity. Open world games like horizon forbidden west is more impressive to me but we’ll see.

      HFW is a stunning game and even more impressive by it being an open world title but with its small scale and linearity Callisto is able to pump extra into its fidelity. Its on another level compared....in my opinion

      @@Tropax1 I finished ratchet and Clank rift apart a couple weeks ago. It is absolutely beautiful, ray traced performance mode at 90fps+ is a sight to behold. Couple of points in Callisto made my jaw drop though. The water and mud effect in the construction area, as well as the deforming snow when the gates open in lost chapter.

Digital Foundry just put out their best graphics of 2022 video, guess which game is the best looking game of 2022, Forbidden west.
    I strongly believe that even games like Ratchet and Clank:Rift Apart and Returnal from last year are on par with Callisto Protocol.

      Its an individual opinion at the end of the day.
      I enjoyed horizon alot and I'm not taking anything away from it but I personally think Callisto looks better due in part to its linearity and smaller environments
      Its all your own opinion and what you personally view as visually appealing I suppose, I'll watch DFs video and see what they think though, always interesting to hear them break stuff down as they understand the nerdy stuff way more than I do 🤣
      Just watched the final bit of the video. Callisto got 2nd could have been 1st in their own words but only held back due to technical difficulties on certain platforms. This isn't the slam dunk you think it is my dude

Graphics are subjective, and what people like is different. Most people know this. You're acting like your ego is tied to horizon winning best graphics by digital foundry.
