A lot of gems dropped in the video! And the definitions are so helpful for those who are not used to these terms. Here's a home birth tips for dads video that I think you'll enjoy. th-cam.com/video/z6U119fjhpI/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely loved this. Sterling could be a therapist with how delicate his voice is. It was lovely/refreshing to see a man talk about the natural childbirth process
He has traits of the husband and life partner any woman would deserve. The way he describes everything with care and such a hands on standpoint is truly lovely. ❤️
Pausing the video to just say how happy I am to see Black Men talk about Natural Home Births!! I hope that more Black people get to know the beautiful experience of Home Births! We did Home Birth with all 3 of our boys and the joy that it was, I want everyone to know!
I don’t know you, and I don’t know if this prayer has already been answered, but I’ll stand in agreement with you for this tonight. Me and my whole family will.
My husband and I had the most beautiful birth experience during the pandemic. I wanted a home birth however the hospital refused due to CoVid resources limited. I opted for birth centre which is nurse led so laid back. Birth centre catered to my needs and husband needs. OMG best amazing experience. My contraction started 5am two minutes apart we came to hospital birth centre at 7.15am got checked I was 8cm dilated and went in the pool straight away. Whilst in pool recorded videos for my two boys at home. Gave birth 7.55am. Had no gas an air and no medicine just the way I wanted. After got offered food, we were given plenty of time to have skin to skin with baby me and my husband. We got discharged 4pm same day which I was so grateful for. This was my second time giving birthing at birth centre. Can’t recommend it more if your pregnancy is healthy.
Kimchi Kimchi Sterling is 100% my hall pass and absolutely nothing sexual. I just enjoy his being.... He wooed me from This Is Us, and the couple's Black Love with him and Ryan and now this. It's something about his genuineness. I feel like what you see and hear from him is what it is.
I think the 10 week class for couples on pregnancy and delivery is essential. Dads need to be in the class...he will be supporting mom post delivery. Not every dad can handle the delivery room part...he maybe better at doing things to help her heal - clean, get food delivered, be supportive with baby. He could take time off work to help mom at home. Allowing mom the option to be a stay at home parent with the baby for 3 years. Childcare is expensive and children are more healthy (less sick) when raised at home.
Omgosh my older sister came to my house found me on all fours too and was like guurrrlll if you dont get yo butt to the hospital!🤣🤣🤣 this was amazing Sterling not to mention her dad was there asleep the whole time i was in labor🙄we was up all night he couldnt hang😅made it to the hospital almost standing up in the car she was already crowning my baby was born 15 mins later naturally💁🏽♀️🙏🏽14 years ago today🙌🏾👸🏾💖Happy Birthday Ivory!
Love this guy. Home birth (HB) is safe or even safer than institutionalized births. I've been a midwife for over 40 years and I KNOW HB is safer. I've worked in hospitals with their conveyor belt system approach - noticing the disasters and the way women are treated -like a lump of flesh, can't think, not allowed to question made me leave that behind. I've been an independent midwife for 26 years and still loving it This guy explained the option of home birth so we'll. He's definitely one to be included in birth preparation classes
Hey I’m a highschool senior right now and I wanted to become a midwife.i heard that nursing school is extra hard and I don’t know if I should go for it .i wanted to become a midwife and help a lot of women during the childbirth process. I get As and Bs in school and I don’t know if that’s acceptable in nursing school.i don’t love science but I’ve always wanted to do something related to the medical field.what advice would you give to someone like me who always feels like they are not smart enough.i want to make a change in this world somehow.
Wow. I love it! I enjoy hearing birthing stories especially from dads that were/are involved in the process and dads that care about mom and baby alike. This was amazingly comforting and I appreciate his level of maturity and respect for her and the process💕🥰
Did natural birth with all three of my babies (now adults). The most profound experiences of my life. Listening to Sterling share his child's birth story has me smiling from ear to ear.
Loved this! I had my DREAM home birth a little over a year ago and it was honestly FUN and I was on a high for months from basically just being able to have a say about what was going on with my body and not feeling like something was happening to me. Watching business of being born was what solidified that desire in me for a home birth as well. I’m pretty crunchy too and had my placenta encapsulated so it’s awesome to see how many similarities there are with our experiences. Though hospital birth isn’t for me, which I suspected and confirmed with my first birth, I also appreciate his understanding that for others it may be best. Very thoughtful and considerate man. I hope someone who would be blessed from the experience of a home birth but isn’t familiar with it can watch this and be open to exploring it more. With the high rate of black women suffering from postpartum death in hospitals it would be beautiful to see more of them who desire it have their babies this way. Home birth after all is the oldest type of birth there is 😂 For those who choose hospitals I hope that this will cause them to be educated about their bodies, their care, and their options so they can have the best experience there as well. And hearing it from a man’s perspective was beautiful as well. Thanks Sterling!
It's amazing to see a father sticking up for his partner and really giving his point of view for birth. It's such an important topic to speak about. I've had 2 homebirths and 1 natural hospital birth and I wouldn't want it any other way but to have my baby at home. It's an incredible experience. And I would not have gotten through each of those without my husband. He was my rock and support through the whole process. Thank you for bringing this topic to light.
What COVID allowed us to discover is these kind of laid back interviews where everyone is home and not stressed out by traffic and getting there on time and so many unnecessary things.
This was SO on point with everything he shared even him sharing about not being first for a while after the baby arrives. Such a beautiful illustration of their experience!! He was so accurate in his details. I smiled at them(i. the midwife calmly saying 'that's beautiful", the moaning through contractions that help so much(open mouth..open down there), etc I encouraged my husband to watch "The Business of Being Born" with me and that helped to change our perspective as well :-) Two babies born at home and the last one at a birthing center(I was unable to establish a sufficient relationship with a homebirth midwife due to moving). My experiences were memorable as well.
I love hearing about Dads & partners supporting their pregnant loved one! It makes my doula heart happy. And reminds us that birth impacts the family as a unitl. So important.
Yes I definitely definitely definitely agree ! There is many challenges in our community with father's not being supportive or totally not being there. This series is awesome. Love the way he helped his wife.
40 weeks + 2 days pregnant with our first little one and planning a homebirth! We've had the BEST experience with our midwife and I'm so excited to bring this baby into the world. Thank you for sharing your story!
Oh my God!! Thank you!!! This was so beautiful, educational and well said. Sterling you are such a natural story teller and I hope you tell the birthing story of your second child. I absolutely love this series and the perspectives of the fathers.
Oh my goodness. THIS. This was beautiful 😭 As a doula, it makes my heart so happy to see such passion and love and INVOLVEMENT from a father!! This was absolute perfection. I wish everyone had the same outlook on marriage, family, kids, women, and life in general as this man does!! Mind blowing.
I love this❤️! I transitions with a midwife when my OB confused the heck out of me every appt. My midwife was everything I needed, even though my baby came via c section she never left my side.
Wow! I loved hearing his version of their first birth. Wish we could've heard about the second! His transparency was so needed and his vivid description of her sounds during contractions & being naked was HILARIOUS! 😂😂😂
So glad this popped up for me to watch! I've already had one positive home birth experience, with hypnobirthing meditations too lol. My midwife told me to drink wine and take a sleeping pill, but she didn't realize this baby wasn't playing! He wanted out ASAP and was also born on my bedroom floor! Looking forward to the next one in a few weeks. Just wish there were qualified midwives of color where I live.
What a beautiful experience, from a wonderful husband! (I could listen to him read the phone book...) I love that he can say things like, “Oh yeah, mucus plug-okay. Cool.” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Midwives are a normal part of pregnancy here in the UK - every expectant mother has one as part of our national health service (NHS) and they are an invaluable part of childbirth. They support mums and dads in the same way and they love it when dads such as Sterling are involved. The image of Sterling laying next to his wife with a sleeping baby as she built the encouragement to have stitches...truly beautiful x🖤
i have so much respect for this man. so grateful to have this insight into their family’s experience & to hear a man who has reverence, respect, and understanding for his partner.
Beautiful story.....you did a wonderful job with the birthing of the child. You didnt carry that child but you had your own moment/experience.....good for you🤗🤩👏👏👏👏
Wow wow wow and thank you so much for putting this out there for us. Thank you for sharing all the details and knowledge around and within your experience, truly appreciated
This is such an important conversation. I literally could just cry. Sterling, you and Ryan are one of my favorite couples. Hearing your birth story just solidified this. There is so much I can say, mind you I used to be a birth worker and had a very difficult, unsupportive birth experience myself. I love that you all are “Crunchy Black Folks” who got to birth at home. I’m so happy that Ryan was treated as a whole person, that’s one of the many aspects that makes midwifery model of care so crucial. I’m so happy that Ryan listened to her body and that you listened to your wife. This was such a beautiful testimony and I’m very grateful you shared. I pray many blessings over your beautiful family for many years to come 🙏🏽 Thank you for sharing!

I love this video! T was super refreshing to see a man that had taken the time to educate himself on what his wife’s body was going through and what to expect, how he could help, etc... It was just so natural and beautiful! ❤️
May this become the norm. Not necessarily home births but fathers who are attentive & present.
Amen!
Hearing this man recount his wife’s birthing experience is so refreshing.
I think you meant recount. Recant means to let go of a belief. 😬💕
Jasmine Berry you are absolutely right sis. Good looking out. 😊
THIS is why I want to be married before I bring life into the world 👫🏾🤰🏾🤱🏾
Edit: he drops soooooooo many gems in this video

He has traits of the husband and life partner any woman would deserve. The way he describes everything with care and such a hands on standpoint is truly lovely. ❤️
I love home births and brown people who embrace the beauty in it. Thanks for sharing Sterling!
“We’re crunchy Black people, we’re going to stay at the crib “ 😂😂
That would be me. Thank you for sharing this story!
We've gotten that so many times! Here's some of my tips for dads doing a home birth. th-cam.com/video/z6U119fjhpI/w-d-xo.html
Crunchy? As in granola? That's hilarious. I have no idea what he meant by that, but it cracked me up.
Sharon E. Langley haha yes. Like hippie, down with the earth kind of style
I laughed so hard. Sterling is hilarious!
@@sharone.langley2923 I thought he said country...
Sterling’s voice is so captivating, I could listen to him explain how to boil water!
Sterling is a dope storyteller!!
Every story he tells is amazing!
Kudos to husbands like you to supporting their wives during labor and birth.

The laugh I️ let out when he said Ryan was a grad school trained actress and imitated her screaming 😂😂
This guy is so brilliant! His mindset is so attractive. God send me my own like this lol
I don’t know you, and I don’t know if this prayer has already been answered, but I’ll stand in agreement with you for this tonight. Me and my whole family will.

This was my second time giving birthing at birth centre. Can’t recommend it more if your pregnancy is healthy.
I had both of my girls at a birthing center with my midwives as well. Best decisions I ever made!
I love his voice and expressions when retelling the prebirth and birthing process. Pure joy and intentionality from Sterling!
I can listen to sterling explain anything 💛
Kimchi Kimchi Sterling is 100% my hall pass and absolutely nothing sexual. I just enjoy his being.... He wooed me from This Is Us, and the couple's Black Love with him and Ryan and now this. It's something about his genuineness. I feel like what you see and hear from him is what it is.

I hope I find a man as good as sterling. You can tell he is absolutely over the moon in love with Ryan 😍😍😍 Black love is beautiful
right that man is love i love my husband but he was never this in to my pregnancies lol
Maybe you try Raheem Sterling 😆 just messing

😂🤣😂🤣 I was super weak
I had a home birth and it was the best experience ever!!!! And ps I used the Hypnobirthing technique! My delivery took 5 hours!!!
SingPray Luv hypnobirthing is wonderful! Folk thought I was crazy! But it was awesome!
This is amazing and heartwarming to hear!
Both my births- one hospital and one at home were 5 hours....
J Pickering it is awesome !!!
Sterling K Brown is such a Gem!!!
The truth of the reality that fathers have to take a small step back is a gem. I'm sharing this with my fiancé
Love this guy.

This is a lovely story of a black father and his end of the birthing process! He wasn't even grossed out about it! Well done to him!
