such a nice video. I am also a brand manager but in pharmaceutical industry, we have same core marketing concepts just differ when it comes to product promotions. Restrictions from regulatory bodies don not allow FMCG type promotions. i must admit that it seems like a very exciting role to be a brand manager in FMCG company.
So glad to see Asian girl talking about careers! Mostly we have white or black people on youtube who talks about careers, education etc. You are Pakistani/Indian I guess? Btwn I'm from Pakistan studying business with triple specializations in banking, finance and marketing.
Hi, Rabeea! I’m a JBM from Russia and I’m eager to get a job in international FMCG company as a BM, and your videos are so useful for me to understand processes in multinational companies. Thank you a lot! And please, keep making videos.
Thank you so much, Rabeea. I've been taking a course on brand management and although I find it very interesting the budgeting and analytical side just put me off a bit. I love the creative part of branding so thank youu for the break down and clarity.
Very Helpful and Informative video, This video cleared all my confusion on what to choose for my Masters. Thank You So much Mam. Love and Respect from India
You explained it so Good Rabeea! Loving it. Now I am going through the different careers I could go for and you left no room for questions on this role. Dont Stop, you amazing!
You were extremely thorough. I’m thinking about applying for a brand manager position but didn’t know the ins and outs. This helped me a ton!!! Thanks so much for your insight.
Great Content! Thank you Rabeea! I'm looking forward to become a brand manager in FMCG after gradation. This video really help me to get a great understand about daily works as a brand manager.
Hello Rabeea, I have came across your video by chance and I really appreciate the way you’re giving the explanations on the field! Very good job. I would like to ask you whether you could make a video about the MS&P job and clarifying its tasks and responsibilities to. Thanks
This is my second video from you. Excellent work about the industry. You are really doing a great service and present well. Kepp up the great work! - (Former MTV award-wiining producer and VH1 Senior Creative Brand Content Producer)
Hi Rabeea, thank you so much for such valuable information about the daily routine of a brand manager... well explained 👏. I just came across your video on YT when I was searching about how does a brand manager actually prepare a budget for the campaign? Will appreciate if you could please share your thoughts practically on it. Regards.
Really enjoyed watching your video. Loved how you were so elaborate & articulate, defining each function so beautifully. Definitely gave me a thorough insight into the role. Look forward to consume more of your content and wish you success for all your future endeavours.
Hi Rabeea! Many thanks for the video. It was very clear, and it is always nice to listen to you! :) It would also be interesting to hear about your experience in luxury, which you have mentioned in one of your other videos, and possibly compare the brand manager role in FMCG and the luxury world!
Hi Anam! They are quite similar. The key difference is in scope of work- a Senior Brand Manager is a higher Band level and so usually leads bigger initiatives for their brand.
Absolutely useful. I love how you explain with so much joy in your face. It makes it very interesting. I also work in the FMCG industry as a Sales Operations Manager / Visual Designer (handling designing of product packging, marketing materials, ads etc and would love to be a brand manager some day. My background is Computer Science but I enjoy the business creativity and problem solving to give joy to the consumer. What is there industry requirement to apply for this job and most likely gain experience? Thank you
Hi Rabeea! Thank you so much for putting together such a detailed video on your day as a brand manager. Do you have any perspective on which areas a brand manager at a non-profit should focus more on? I see that there's a lot of information on the side of consumer goods but non-profits do not operate in the same way. Anyways, all non-profits still need to pay attention to their brand aspects, especially if they operate globally without a defined structure in this department. Thank you again for your amazing content, already moving to another of your videos.
Hi Sanskriti, thanks! The key skills are probably the same as any high-powered corporate role: Attention to detail, ability to analyze data critically, ability to collaborate, and strong communication skills. Depending on the role, it also helps to have a creative mind. :)
Hello Rabeea, I would like to ask a question and hope you respond? I am not necessarily looking to be a Brand Manager but I am studying what certain job positions are, I am trying to learn what a Brand Manager can/cannot do. Here's my question: If a Brand Manager worked at a company that deals with fictional stories, and they have multiple series/franchises, does the Brand Manager have control over the writing/plot/development of the stories?
That would really depend on the scope of work defined by the company. But to cut it short, I think a Brand Manager is *usually* a business manager, and therefore would probably focus more on the business and marketing of the company image as a whole. The writing/plot/development is probably more of a Producer's or Creator/Creative's role.
I have watched about 4 "day In the life" marketing managers or coordinators or marketing associate. I will say the only thing I have learned is that there are a lot of meetings and not a lot of actual work that gets accomplished.
Hi Rabeea! I love your videos! I'm doing a master's degree in marketing right now so your take on the brand manager role has been really helpful. I have one question: Is it possible to join P&G as a fresh grad without any FMCG experience or would that be an instant knock-out criterion? All the best and keep going :D Julian
Thanks Julian! It's absolutely possible. Fresh grad hires in P&G tend to have had a summer internship with P&G or another large FMCG. These companies also participate in career fairs and university competitions so that's a great place to get noticed too. If you have access to neither, I think a solid CV with transferrable skills highlighted would be your best bet.
Hi Rabbea! I am Ian from Indonesia and really love this video. If you see my comment and have a spare time, I have question: 1. What is the position before become a brand manager. I mean this position looks need a very particular skills that came from several sectors like marketing, sales, finance or even distribution (because we own the brand, right?) 2. Is there any tools or app that I can learn to develop my-way-of-thinking as a brand manager? I am actually have small business here with bamboo as a main product and really needs to be develop! And casually looking for a job as brand manager here. Thanks and have a good day! God bless
Interesting. How do you grow or roll into this job? I assume you have to be acquainted with the product and the company first in some other kind of job?
