Very nice! Menard’s is the leader in budget trains, for sure. Their F units are a decent value for people just getting into the hobby and even for those who just want something to run. That ice cream shop is real neat. An excellent video,as always!
Interesting stuff Bob! I suspect trainz is "fishing" on the price of that F-Unit. If it doesn't sell they'll certainly drop the price. I've done a little "Russian Roulette" playing with articles for sale on trainz myself. I've watched the prices drop, then drop some more until I get to the "Now, or never!" point an pull the trigger. I've missed out on a few things but eh, so what? It's a hobby, not a life or death situation! Were I a Menards location I'd set one of those starter sets up under a Christmas tree. I love the Custard stand but just bought the seed and feed and its a wood product.) Finally a building that fits my 1920's /30's steam era . just wish it wasn't covered in stickers , but a great price
Glad u went back to cover the train sets ur right the pricing is a bit all over the place and it b nice if the sets came with a caboose but ur right about getting younger generations involved it's hard to keep thier attention with all the other gadgets at they're disposal
I had to order the Frozen Custard stand when I saw it. I already have a plan to "kit-bash" it to rename it in my late father's memory. He LOVED ice cream, so we'll have to see what final name I come up with. Luckily, the front sign popped right off so I can customize it.
So the ice cream stand... in the town I grew up in, there's a Custard shop called LEONS Frozen Custard. My parents know the owners, and they are particular about the fact that it's NOT ice cream, it's Custard! Its really good either way, but I can't have any :( however they also sold burgers.
We have a Menard's locally, I've bought rolling stock for grandson and some have trouble with the trucks and couplers. But for the $ they cost including the locomotives it's a good way to start a great hobby. I'm 74 and got my first Lionel when I was 7. Ran the heck out of it , now my grandson has it!

I went to Menards on Monday and ended up buying the HO version of the Cripple Creek Seed & Feed. It is wood and has texture to it. The hardest part was removing all of the staples to get it out of the package. There were two on the shelf. When I returned on Wednesday, the remaining one was also gone.
Making the average family happy like Lionel used to! The new Lionel catalog shows trains that are prohibitively expensive for the average person. Menards😃🚂!
I’ll go one step further… I only buy used stuff that’s really cheap. I know kids like new stuff. But they can get so much more if they can do without the newness.
I have to say, the quality of the paint jobs is certainly improving... I hope Menard's keeps at it and keeps getting better.. I also hope they do a steam engine! A lot of their building models and cars are meant to look old, it would be nice to have an old style train. I live about 40 miles from Menard's headquarters, I wonder if they bought the company that makes all this stuff... I wonder that, because that is what they did with their patio furniture and the kitchen systems they sell, they bought the companies so they have more control over them.
Hello Bob I went to the Owensboro Menards in Kentucky I'm still looking for a couple things and I did not see it. They now have a box car or Hopper it's like glass is all clear in the schedule for lights inside which is cool to me also I'm looking for the 2024 Trump tanker car have you seen them online yet? I heard you mention it on another video that you went there and I was really shocked I thought they put it out during November. Every time I'm thinking I'm done with the setup of the track I get an idea of something else I wanted to try here we go again I'm not getting ready to set up for 072 to the engine I got the Allegheny Virginia or not run on my 54 track. We are wanting to add flat cars with the army tanks and the other vehicles from the army it's sad when you find it online what people how far the jacket up to this shouldn't be allowed to be able to buy that and raise the price up
The biggest complaint that I have with Menards F units is that the logos seem to be way oversized. If they tone them down a bit, they would like very nice units for the price. Menards seems to go overboard with things which makes items look a bit ridiculous.
I think young people don't have the money to get into model trains, i mean the cost of living is going up and people don't have as much disposable income.
The new stuff is very expensive. I usually buy cheaper older stuff. Every now and then, I see complete, Lionel sets on Facebook marketplace for around 40 or 50 bucks. Older Lionel sets from the 70s or 1980s.
If only they would have made a 50's period Dairy Queen. I would definitely be interested in one of those. I saw their new Tulsa Tank Train set with the Midnight Chief F units. Unfortunately, they had the chrome trucks, and I'm not interested in the entire set for $400.00. I don't factor in for their rebate when determining price like they do as It's only for store credit, and I'm still waiting on my rebates from last October. Once all of the receipts are mailed in, you have no proof of purchase, especially if you lose your phone and It gets run over losing all the pictures you took of the receipts.
