Boy, I feel like this one might not get the greatest views, but I really hope they keep it going for at least one more episode. At this stage, Papers Please just feels like a classic that every gamer should experience fully at least once in their lives.
Honestly, the Grumps’ stats/viewership (from what I understand) are weird enough that this might do quite well. A 10 year old game might not be great for the autoplay/recommendation algorithm, but for SEO, I’m pretty sure it’ll show up high (if not first) on the page if you search for ‘papers please’. a bizarrely high amount of the Grumps’ viewership comes from folks that are actually subscribed- so those first two factors matter less for them than the average channel. Personally, I’ve wanted to watch them play certain games (like this) for YEARS, and ngl, seeing it ‘finally’ happen after totally forgetting about it had me clicking and watching it IMMEDIATELY. wouldn’t be surprised if other older lovelies jump on watching this, as well.
i was looking foreward to arin having 1.5 brain cells and immediately failing the first person in the easiest part of the game i did not expect that he wouldnt even be able to open the passport
Just some advice, unless it specifically says so in the rule book you only have to check expiration date. If there's more obvious signs, eg: gender or photo doesn't look the same, that's when you do discrepancies. All of the people you let in, or not, after your shift is over doesn't give you money. You only get money from letting people in. There will be times when you don't know what to compare to get a discrepancy detected. If its a photo, you have to click photo + persons face. It'll then give you the chance to fingerprint them. You use the discrepancy on both sets of fingerprints and it'll either say discrepancy detected, or not. If it says no corelation, it means you have chosen two things that correlate with each other to search for discrepancy. Once it starts adding work permits, you have to check EVERYTHING. It takes forever but there should be obvious changes. Make sure you look carefully at duration of stay. If its not the same time they say they're staying, you pick up the communication page and tag the duration of stay on the work permit and them saying their different duration of stay. There's going to be times where you get letters from people with names of people you can't let in, if you want a good ending. Tag both the name on the letter and name on the passport and you can detain them. DON'T DETAIN PEOPLE FOR JUST EXPIRED PASSPORTS (unless you're getting paid for it by one of the guards.) only detain people if they don't have documents or you find bombs on them. Jorji is going to come back and you will always have to deny him, he has very obvious things that you can deny him for so don't look to hard for things to deny him for. Anything that's not passport/work permit etc you don't have to keep on the magnified table on the right side, you can keep it on your table. If you get paid not to let people in and you don't have any money taken off you for doing the wrong thing, then I wouldn't let them in. You only have to do 2 things wrong and then you start getting 5 credits taken off you. If they're giving you more than 5 credits especially, you can afford to do the wrong thing.
9:56 Lucas Pope apparently. He got the inspiration when he was at the airport as the people working there were checking his paperwork. He also made Return of the Obra Dinn, which is an outstanding game of logic and deduction.
How so? That game is all about deduction and connecting clues together (thinking about things like the chinamen shoes). Just watching the Amanda Adventure game and Arin couldn’t notice a missing pause button…when staring at it with a pause button in his hand…kinda doesn’t bode well

I'm hoping that Arin figures out that you can correct yourself if you accidentally deny or approve them by just giving them the other stamp, but I'm not that hopeful considering that I don't think the game outright tells you this?
Honestly, for a first play-through, Arin is doing pretty decent. Yeah, he could pick up speed at inspecting, but for his first time, he's learning pretty fast. I really want to see more of this. The only tip I would offer is that you get paid by the number of people you process which is why it pays to keep a good pace up. You can also take bribes if people are trying to get into the country with false documents so it's not a bad idea to interrogate even if some documents are wrong/missing instead of just immediately denying entry.
We‘re supposed to think this procedure is dystopian, but for those who have ever passed US Immigration as a tourist this is actually a nice friendly fireside chat.
Arin being surprised that you are given access to public housing while working this job and also misunderstanding class 8 housing (believing it to be the best class when it’s quite the opposite) is the most American thing ever

What do you mean? How would he go faster? You have to check everything so the speed is normal and how others would do it
You're SUPPOSED to look at every detail so you don't make any mistakes!
@fuzzyotterpaws4395 if he doesn't check faster snd there are ways to quickly know, he's gonna run out of money/lose.
I'm surprised they did so well already.
After MatPats retirement, I’m gonna need for Arin to be serious about his GameGrumps retirement plan
Arin has already said his retirement plan: he's going to die on camera, fully monetized
@@haywoodjblome4768😂 for real .
Hope they continue/finish this one, would love to see their reactions to where the game ends up going
Yessss this game is so good. I can already see Arin getting super annoyed
In order for Arin to get upset, he needs to first realize he's doing terrible. Which he has not yet done.

@@chefdano3474 true, though he is noticing the lack of money he has which is like the first indicator that he needs to speed up a bit. And of course later on the citations will start piling up.
i love the batter profile pic OFF is a fantastic game
joining in on the love of the pfp. OFF is a childhood classic for me
Boy, I feel like this one might not get the greatest views, but I really hope they keep it going for at least one more episode.
30:55 actually, you got paid $50! It's just that half of that is rent, and the other half is food and medicine for one of your family members
i was looking foreward to arin having 1.5 brain cells and immediately failing the first person in the easiest part of the game
i did not expect that he wouldnt even be able to open the passport
Please play again, my boyfriend has said "They still haven't posted Papers please yet" every day since this video
I’m already so entertained imagine all the ways this is going to go wrong. Going to be a game Dan tries to help Arin a lot and he won’t listen.
praying for a second episode of this, loved this one!
Five minutes in and i can already tel this playthrough is going to make me so mad
who the heckenstein recommended a pay-lots-of-attention game to Arin?
Lmao, he couldn’t figure out to drag the passport then stamped denied and gave up
As if you did good on your first run.
Then don’t fucking watch it?
@@OtisCluckare you a personal friend of dan or arin? this is a weirdly hostile attitude for you to take in defense of total strangers
Please continue this one, there's so many awesome shenanigans afoot you both are going to really love!
Always psyched to see someone play Papers Please
9:56 Lucas Pope apparently.
He got the inspiration when he was at the airport as the people working there were checking his paperwork.
He also made Return of the Obra Dinn, which is an outstanding game of logic and deduction.
This was lovely, and reminds me that the grumps haven't done "Return of the Obra Dinn" which would fit them like a glove
How so? That game is all about deduction and connecting clues together (thinking about things like the chinamen shoes). Just watching the Amanda Adventure game and Arin couldn’t notice a missing pause button…when staring at it with a pause button in his hand…kinda doesn’t bode well
We neeeeeeed a full playthrough of this!
Arin saying that it's too much information while just reading the description of the room. Oh boy we are in for a blast!
Loved it, but this was the most relaxed papers please I've ever seen 😂
Most people are stressed trying to be as fast as possible, but not Arin
God, I love papers please
the absolute chokehold this game had on me a few years ago was insane
It breaks my heart to know this game is going to be abandoned in one or two episodes… 😢
NOOOOOOOOOO
You guys deserve so much love atleast more love because 300K averaged viewing an episode is so not worth the amount of passion and dedication that comes with this channel I love these two men very much y’all have given me so much happiness and joy in the modern world I love you fools and I will continue to be a lovely as long as I breathe
Ahhh, papers please, that famous game, that was played by jacksepticeye and his potato man. And detained!! It's such a classic !!
i love the potato man, i cant wait for them to see his…. story
I wish they had Jack helping them out with this ❤ it would be an amazing Guest Grumps ❤
@@cassiebraun1076 It'd probably just be Sean screaming "WHAT THE FECK ARE YOU DOIN?!" at them the whole time and getting various levels of frustrated, honestly. :')
I love how no matter how many times they read it, or say it out loud, they'll immediately forget and mess it all up. I'm so excited for this series.
I strongly recommend turning on Easy mode to give you guys more time to check things and joke around with less threat of losing your whole family to starvation and disease. :) I want y'all to have fun and see the story to the end!
I've waited years for a Grumps playthrough of this game
Why
Man, watching them struggle with the first day knowing what was to come had me stressed. Also Arin was clairvoyant when he predicted the guy doing the bombing.
love how arin saw and pointed out the red butotn on the bottom but barely actually use it
Knew this was going to be a banger when he got the first entrant wrong. Also, him barely using the inspect button removed a year from my life. Never change, my grumpy boi.
Game grump playing Paper Please finally makes me unreasonably happy pls play more
"There's so much more extra stuff now!" Arin says, three days into a game that very steadily ramps up the amount you need to check.
I just got to that part as I read your comment. lol
this episode starting with Dan Reading my immortal nearly gave me a heart attack
I'm hoping that Arin figures out that you can correct yourself if you accidentally deny or approve them by just giving them the other stamp, but I'm not that hopeful considering that I don't think the game outright tells you this?
Yeah, the game recognises the most recent stamp you used, but it doesn't tell you directly.
I thought the denied stamp always overrode the approved stamp
Honestly, for a first play-through, Arin is doing pretty decent. Yeah, he could pick up speed at inspecting, but for his first time, he's learning pretty fast. I really want to see more of this. The only tip I would offer is that you get paid by the number of people you process which is why it pays to keep a good pace up. You can also take bribes if people are trying to get into the country with false documents so it's not a bad idea to interrogate even if some documents are wrong/missing instead of just immediately denying entry.
You dressed Arin up in one of the outfits and made him fit in with the artstyle for the thumbnail. Props.
i want them to keep playing this so badly. i also really wanna see an animated of this
this is like the absolute worst game for Arin and Dan to be successful at...and i'm loving it hahahaha
“Wow this sounds like a dream world!!!” 😭😭
Y’all gotta play this again! I love papers please
We‘re supposed to think this procedure is dystopian, but for those who have ever passed US Immigration as a tourist this is actually a nice friendly fireside chat.
Arin screwing up the very first one is a baaaaad sign. I have a feeling this is gonna be painful to watch. XD
Then don’t watch it
Arin being surprised that you are given access to public housing while working this job and also misunderstanding class 8 housing (believing it to be the best class when it’s quite the opposite) is the most American thing ever
Incredible throwback!!
I legit want this playthrough to be series :)
Taking a moment to point out that we deeply appreciate the implementation of manual subtitles for videos. These are annoying and hard to make but very important. Thank you editor / GG.
Is this where I hop on the daily grumps train instead of every so often. I “enjoyed” Amanda’s adventure and I literally love love love papers please.
the game: use the BIG RED BUTTON to let the game analyze the information
Arin and Dan: *proceeds to analyze and check each person’s documents without use of said button*
doesn't it take a stupidly long amount of time to have it check each thing vs just glancing with your eyes?
@@KairuHakubi Yeah, visually checking it is much faster.
i used to watch jacksepticeye play this game sooo many times when his videos first came out and well after that, this is so nostalgic lol.
I love seeing Dan at the begining
I will never get tired of hearing about this story. It's an historian video I have frequent many times I'm glad that my 2 boys here will become a part of that frequenting.
Yay! Curently recovering from surgery, and the grumps are playing one of my faves. Gonna help with the mood ^^
Hope you feel better soon
Hope you don't rupture a blood vessel😅
I love when I see a thumbnail and my immediate response is, "The boys are gonna have a hard time with this one"
Never change, never change.❤
