The entire season is so well crafted. All parts of filmmaking work so well together, I would love to watch it on the silver screen one day.

There are parts of the sound design for Planet Earth II that are so incredibly ham fisted and sensationalized that it totally takes out out of the experience. The sounds of whips, metal blades, and machinery get used for the animals and it goes a long way to really ruin the series. The sound is so far out at times that it ends up making you question every thing you see. The nuance of the sound design for the first Planet Earth was truly fantastic, its a shame to see the series take such a hard nose dive because of the sound. In this interview though, all of the scenes you showed were examples of the really good sequences that were not overdone in their sound.

Recently watched and I've found the sound to be excessive and distracting.
It reminds me of a kids show or the "audience" in Married with Children. Like a laugh track.
It's a beautiful story as told by the famous "pitted, so pitted" surfer.

The planet earth ii sound design was just awful. Blades of grass bending don't sound like a creaky door, to take one particularly ridiculous example. It was over the top, and mostly ruined the series.
