Cummins CP3 Removal - 3rd Gen Cummins We figure I would show how to pull a cp3 on this 2006 dodge Cummins that I have to pull the engine out for repairs.
@@CUTTERUPROB okay what does it mean if it is? because somebody vandalized my truck and they tried to cut or pry the metal fuel line that connect to the CP3. I'm trying to access the damages that have been done but don't know what I'm doing and the closest diesel mechanic to me is 98 miles away.
so i was just removing my cp3 and forgot to hold the harmonic balancer while trying to remove the 27mm bolt, you said the pump doesn't need timing? so me being worried about the timing on the truck is out the window im fine right? about to replace the injectors and pump but stopped what i was doing in the process of removing the pump because i cranked on that nut a few times and thought i threw my truck timing out of whack
On this one someone had cut and welded it back together. It did a shot job so I cut it in the same place so I could weld it so it was safe again. But customer ended up having someone worse finish the truck.
It sucks having a blown up truck I blew my 06 up took the engine out melted the shit out of 5 & 6 I had the machine shop bor it 40 over and had it aligned honed my main bearings are on back order so still no build but it happens for a reason
@@CUTTERUPROB I have all the other parts pistons cam new head heavy valves spring incnal valves porting the head though it's pretty much done but just some clean up on now
@@CUTTERUPROB correct.. ,,but I read some place or someone misspoke perhaps.... maybe it was a dream...lol...but anyway..I have a recollection of someone saying 6.7's were timed...but anyway
Excellent video, we need more 5.9 common rail content 👍👍
More to come! I just want to finish for more 12v stuff and we will be on it
Do I need to keep the three bolts tight before i use the puller or can I take all the bolts off then use the puller and push the pump straight back
Hey the CP3 shouldn't be loose loose and flopping around right?
Shouldn’t be loose at all

Added a 2 micron filter to our 06 few years ago... like our komatsu 6.7's have... should prolong the life of things
That’s a good idea as well
Tanks

You are fine the cp3 doesn’t need to be timed
I’m fixing to replace my cp3 when Installing do you tighten the gear nut first and then the three on the back?
You want to tighten the 3 nuts on tye back first
I’m asking everyone ..
When I try to loosen the shaft nut , it just turns the pump .. 🤷♂️ any ideas ?
Where did you get the gear remover tool?
Mine is a snap on one
You can use a 7/8 open end wrench and a small 2 lb mallet hammer. And just....tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap....and eventually it will come out
Did you just cut that crossmember in the front that holds the radiator and intercooler?

Brand new mahle pistons power driven budget cam sense I have it apart I'm gonna build it rite I hope
@@CUTTERUPROB I ordered clevit h series race bearing but those are on back order

I can drop ship a set to you. I have stock in the states
6.7 believe is timed?.. wonder why
There not either. Its just a pressure pump.

@@CUTTERUPROB apparently it's to synchronize the pump strokes and the injectors firing...it's a noise thing..is what I read...
