Does anybody else hear PotatoMcWhiskey’s voice when they’re thinking to themselves while playing Civ? I’m constantly thinking in an Irish accent stuff like, “hmm I think I’ll actually just buy a grahnary because this city could really use some growth, and then I can use my production towards a Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. That will give us some really nice yields. I’ve got a lot of coastal tiles. Yes, I think I’ll do that.” Meanwhile I’m on Prince difficulty and making 50x more mistakes 😂

I love the first episode of Potato games, seeing how he plans out the early game is always super interesting. Also no matter how much I try to learn from his example by turn 100 I'm always at like half the size
14:10 The way you think out loud is awesome, and super helpful as I'm trying to get better at Civ6. As you're picking your religious tenants, you're planning out the rest of the game. And your commentary really shows the depth and richness of every action. Nice video as always! Keep up the great work!
I wonder if it would've been possible to put an aqueduct where Petra ended up, but with all those boats it's probably unnecessary! These mods seem like a good amount of change, not over the top just a decent few tweaks to keep it fresh
22:56 You can active the scout lens for all military units in the More Lenses settings (you know, the one where you always deactivate the builder lens). Very useful while you are scouting with other military units (or longships), so you don't miss tribal villages.
POV, patiently waiting the whole video for potato to find out that he's wrong about work ethic's effect (cause of the bbg change, obvi he knows the usual version)
I always felt like the Viking Longship should be able to somehow travel along rivers in the game, considering that was one of the huge advantages of them. would be so cool
Ships up rivers in general is my big request for civ 7, i made a map where all the rivers were instead 1 coast tile for like 4-5 and it completely changed how i played the game. It does require the bridge mod though or else it can be a bit slow in the late game. But frigate bombardment up the river was spectacular and made having ships way more critical, kinda like old world.
@@piersonjamesa I know this is a year late but there is a map mod called real rivers that makes "great rivers" that are 1 wide and it adds like districts and things that are centered around it

Potato, why don't you check the promotions on your Apostles? You only need 3 charges to evangelize or launch an inquisition, so if you get the the promotion with +2 or +3 charges those are *free spreads at Apostle strength* you can use before evangelizing. If you get Debater, you can curbstomp all of the AI's missionaries which a) is the best ROI on spreading your own religion and b) makes the AI spend more faith buying more missionaries and less on great people. And being able to convert barbs can be *hugely* helpful, sometimes. At least check what promotions they have before using them.

Excellent gameplay and interesting mod. One thing you could have done is save the production from Colossus for Mahabodi Temple by pushing Shift-Enter for the one turn till you got the capability.

These mods sound interesting. I always wanted a good Norway game not based on pillaging, but apparently my copy of the game hates Norway.
