Have one i run a 2.5 battery on. Pulls off rusty axle nuts with ease, and does good on heavy equiptment as well. My milwaukee took a crap and i replaced it with this. No regrets either. I have the hercukes 3/8 impact and ratchet, and the 1/4" driver. All great tools.

I must say.. eventhough I'm spoiled with Dewalt and Milwaukee tools.. if I was just starting out in mechanics.. I would highly recommend these tools over the White Van specials... and won't feel bad if something catastrophic happens to the tool as HF does pretty good with warranty swaps.

This new setup has a 5 year warranty on the tool and (I think) 2 years on the battery.

@@Thebassguru84 oh it’s like that. So far for the few times I’ve used it I love it, watched videos years ago and wanted it since but now I see the herc got me thinking different 😭

You can ask to upgrade, if you have the warranty then you pay the difference, if you don't then they make you pay the 2year warranty then the difference.
But we have the earthquake grinder, 3/8, and 1/2. Each one since launch like 5 years ago, daily use (mechanic) and they're still going strong. I also have the Hercules ultra since im deep in the paltform. Only one earthquake battery was a dud out of four.

This video and the Ultra Torque shows me that an extra $30 gets me an extra 600 ft-lbs... I think the extra $30 is worth it... Great vids!

So if I'm not doing heavy automotive work I'd be fine with the 5Ah battery, the biggest for me would be stuff like crank pulley bolt, axle nuts and maybe some suspention work.

    • @jamesburch716

I use a 2.5 on mine pulls rusty axle nuts with ease. Hasn't left me hanging working on heavy equipment either. And lasts along time still.

My guess.. sometimes you are tightening a fine thread lug nut like Nissan 1.25 thread... and want a slow thread starting like you were doing it by hand.

I just wish harbor freight would release a competitive mid torque which is what I would use more than anything. Their current mid torque is a little lacking and I’d love to see a 450-550 ft/lbs mid torque like a craftsman. I’ve got a few 2.5 amp hour and a 5 amp hour battery and I’d be fully invested in the line at that point. I just can’t justify a new tool line of any kind with inflation the way it is.

    • @ThePainkiller3666
      @ThePainkiller3666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Right? I was surprised how underpowered the "mid" torque was.

The Hercules 1/2" compact is rated for 555 ft/lbs. I've had mine for a year with no complaint. Quit listening to your "buds" & check it out yourself.

Please test the Bauer high torque, it’s $159 for a kit and they now offer 8ah and 12ah batteries. Torque test channel tested it and it compared favorable with the Hercules, but they didn’t test any of the 21700 cell batteries.

If youd had given the dewalt dcf900 the time you gave this thing hammering away.... It would have loosened the 1800ftlbs one that started to move.
Gonna have to revisit that one. I know im not the only one saying that by lookin on the dcf900 videos comments

If you buy 2 5ah batteries, they are $100, and if you buy a tool, battery, and charger all at once you get $25 off, so $320 for 2 5Ah batteries, Dual charger, and the tool.

That’s not a limited time thing, that’s their form of “build your own kit” but only available in store for some reason.

Ya I'm waiting for their new brushless hammer drill to come out and impact to see if I want to I'll say expand into kobalt or these cuz these r 40 seconds away from house where's Lowes in 26mins but I see they got a new compact 4 ah with 21700 for like 50 r 60bucks now too..I'll say this to the owner of HF I've got 2 pressure washers I built for my business with the 420 and 459 both are rite at 1000 dollar mark for over 4000 psi and 6gpm and they are amazing my preds. Don't make me miss Honda at all so thank you sincerely for stepping up to the plate and giving us tools and engines at affordable for us poefolk but use to make money for our families I Kno that prolly had to be a difficult decision cuz u had u ur place but now punching up at SBD and TTI and holding ur own..( golf clap). Now where's that hammer drill cz I love my Ryobi HP hammer drill but man they govern the shit electronically it cuts out b4 it struggles n I'm tired off waiting for a real man's 1200 inch lb drill cuz they don't get it people get hurt with tools when their shit is underpowered n they bind and the saw r drill don't have the nuts to bail em out so dun with hopes of a real hammer drill from them if they were gonna do it that new hp drill shuda been the one to do it on it has everything else even styling to make a statement but still got that boned out 305 that u tell everyone it's a 373 stroker lol sure it is n that 17 second quarter was sub 12 rite the sun got in my eyes the 2 looked like a 7 lmao ..it's ok there there sorry for the sarcastic rant .
Oh Thanks Tim nother great vid but we've come to expect it from u #G.O.A.T

In that case the Dewalt CAN break 1800 ft lbs. you were way more lenient with the Hercules then you were with the dcf900.
Ok so what does an extra 1000 bucks get you? Roughly 500 extra ft lbs of break away torque.

Everybody has a budget, this tool meets a price point. Also this tool will go on sale and not in a combo kit you don't want half of like the Dewalt. Also some people have the harbor freight credit card so they want to use it. I'm not a fan of store credit cards but to each his own
