    Excellent video.
    They have an HCB85B2 now with 1500 ft-lbs of breakaway torque and 1,000 ft-lbs for an extra 10 dollars at HF. What monsters.
    I am blown away by this video because most companies exaggerate. It pulled the 1,400 ft-lbs with no problem. I was expecting a struggle. Damn!

    I am an HF fan boy.. work for a dealership… where most techs use Milwaukee, snap on, or cornwell…it’s all a money making scheme.. most of these tools are built in the same factory… I have the dewalt set of drill, driver, and oscillating tool… also have the radio.. and flashlight which I use almost every day… can’t complain about any of them.. but started getting into packout just for storage. They really get you.. the tool I use most is my HF Hercules impact drill, and Hercules grinder.. both beast.. that batteries last forever.. and they have a no hassle warranty…. I love a quality tool… I think HF is moving in the right direction .

I also used it to tighten a pinion nut from 4 inch pounds to 15 pounds like nothing. Took all the bolts off my Dana 30 like they were lose, and I hand tighten the crud out of them. It’s odd how on TTC the ultra torque tested weaker than the dcf900 but here it at least matches it. (We do think he cut it off early with the dcf900. In the previous video.)
    Possibly explanation. All those tightening and loosening is heating up the nuts and skewing with the results a little bit.
    Here is an idea. Do a head to head with all the high torque impacts.
    But above 1200 to 1500 ft lbs. let the nuts cool down 15-30 minutes.
    Same thing happened with the Kobalt Mid torque tested super high here. Did 3rd place at TTC.

      It's probably the difference between a Dyno and bolts and nuts.

    • @williamwhite1749
      @williamwhite1749 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think TTC uses left-handed bolt in the reverse torque test, it's not a real bolt breakaway torque since the bolt would be more and more tight in the test. TTC's test introduces more impact to the tool machical parts, sure, DCF900 is better in handling that reactive force. The test here is more close to burst nuts in reality and the difference between these two tools may not be signicant since nuts becomes more and more loose.

    • @pizzamangametime9773
      @pizzamangametime9773 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@williamwhite1749 yes TTC uses a reverse thread bolt to test reverse torque which I think is why some tools end up doing better in forward than reverse which they have said happens before and I think it is because of how the impacts work forwards vs. reverse

    • @seanbutler2291
      @seanbutler2291 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No It actually makes perfect sense when you think about it. TTC is purely measuring the torque that the tool is applying. He even says on several occasions that this doesn't necessarily translate to nut removal. There are a lot of varying factors to that. RPM of the motor, bpm of the hammer etc... shop tool reviews is doing a much more realistic test. Testing practical application. In the real world the bolts dont tighten like on a dyno, they slowly loosen.

I also love how it’s been awesome whenever another brand breaks records, but once Harbor Freight is top dog, maybe we’ve gone too far and are hurting our lifetime warranty sockets haha. I know everyone’s got a sour taste in their mouth from HF of years past and the bias shows in literally every channel I watch, but it’s honestly great to see them really step into their own and finally offer some quality performing tools way below the big box brands. Great for the consumer who’s willing to shop there, and great for pushing top brands to offer higher quality at lower prices.

      That part sucks..but it isn't difficult to deal with. Want frustration? Try dealing with Black and Decker...they have a couple of nice tools, and they work great for the average DYI guy, but you're gonna hate the extremely limited selection of tools available unlike Ryobi, who literally has I can't count how many different tools available that work on the same battery system. I'm not foolish to think HF will ever be on the same level as Snap on or any of the big 4 tool makers, but HF in some aspects has really stepped up their game with some tools and their ICON SERIES toolboxes. I've put their ICON SERIES next to my Snap On and MAC Tools boxes, and they are very similar in looks and quality quite honestly.

Do the math where they stand now and you find Milwaukee and Dewalt as good if not a better deal. Once you have the charger and batteries then Hercules becomes a good deal. Starting from scratch an established brand name is hard to pass on. In my opinion HarborFreight does little to nothing to entice me or anyone to jump on to their cordless tool platforms. Great review, thanks! I'm thinking about purchasing this and went looking for reviews. :-) Question: When tightening in auto mode and it shuts off, what value is the nut torqued to? The lugnuts on all the vehicles I own call for 80 lb/ft; would be great if the auto mode shut off and left the nut at like 60 lb/ft so I could finish torquing by hand to get precise. But that goes for my motorcycle front sprocket nut too; I like to be precise when torqueing that nut as well. Thanks!

    • @pizzamangametime9773
      @pizzamangametime9773 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably isnt accurate at all and goes based off of amp draw as that is the easiest way to have a shut off because it is just like a overload protection so the moment it sees so much amp draw it just quits
