Also makes repairing the item feel better I do electronics repair for friends and I've always cleaned the items first everything from guitar amps to phones and game consoles and controllers and enjoy them saying the item looks and feels like it's brand new
I am glad that you was willing to do a little rigging to get the impact driver going again instead of using a bunch of expensive parts that would have quickly added up to the cost of a new machine.

Fantastic video as usual Dean. I like all your added tips - especially the donor Milwaukee carcass for the additional plastic - nice touch 👍 Cheers for the regular and high quality content.

Have you considered getting an ultrasonic parts cleaner? Particularly good for cleaning electronic parts. Switches don't necessarily need to be dismantled so long as they have some opening to allow the cleaning fluid to enter.
I loved that you cleaned and repainted this tool. Now I am wondering if there's some type of colored plastic liquid that you can form and will harden. My go to brand is JB Weld for adhesives, etc
- you keep me company a lot of hours... - just a quick note, whenever we leave some wires unconnected, it is a good practice to insulate them, since they may be not passive, but bring power to the sub-board, like the one that counts strokes.
I would love to have seen his face when he got a nearly new gun back. Out if curiosity, whats the hourly rate for repairs. I have a load of broken tools from my years as a joiner but never thought it economical to repair them. Cheers. Good show
Great job Dean , as always . I've noticed this is the second impact wrench that is missing the push spring behind the battery retainer where You've put the o-ring, must have been opened before ...
How much did it cost to do these repairs/restoration? Just curious to the cost of repairs vs the cost of a new tool. Great job btw and great video too. Thanks!!
Hi Dean, nothing to do with Milwaukee just a question for you. Do you know if there is a Makita switch which will fit the Eibenstock PLD182.1 core drill, someone said that there was. I was thinking, if anyone knew it would be you.
Dean your deadly fair play I love this channel I’ve been following the tik tok with a year or so I’d say, I must ask you do you come across any snap on power tools and if so what way do you find them
You mentioned on a previous video that your go-to bosch repair drill sounded worse than the one you were repairing. How about a self-repair video of your bosch driver using your skil or something? Just a thought...
You know, a 3D printer should pump out those little silicone dust boots no problem. I'm certain I heard they can 3D print silicone now. It would probably add to cost but a 3D printer would be an investment to repairing these mostly plastic tools.
All my tools are spotless and kept sealed in their boxes or packets and stored on shelves away from dirt, fingerprints and grime. I must make a video to show them to TH-camrs one day.
I don't know if Ingersoll Rand is even in business anymore because I haven't been around it for years but I loved their tools and I had a Craftsman 1/2" air impact gun with 600 ft lb of reverse torque that was great.
Does kerosene have any impact on the pcb or electronic components? Because I usually use ipa but it less effective at removing all that grime on the stator. Thanks
The manufacturer declares it in user manual, if not try search online. Any type of lithium based grease will do, but viscosity can depend on type of power tool.
Anyone know how to fix a loose anvil on one of these? I took it apart but didn't see much. The tool doesn't really owe me anything it is 6-7 years old. I did notice that the front nose housing is broken around the anvil. Not sure if that is what holds it tight? Thanks to anyone who replies.
How can anyone treat their power tools this way. My Milwaukee high torque is 1 year old, I use it everyday and I clean it at the end of everyday. It still looks brand new due to using Tub O Towels to clean them. Do not be lazy techs, those tools are your life line. There is ZERO excuse for this filth.
@@hb_main1471 I just look after my tools. 5 minutes at the end of the day is pretty damn cheap insurance. There are ZERO excuses for filthy dirty tools.

Client must have been amazed to get it back in such amazing condition. Great work!
In 20 years of repairing tools I've never returned a repaired tool that was not cleaned inside and out, It just helps make the customer feel better.
Also makes repairing the item feel better I do electronics repair for friends and I've always cleaned the items first everything from guitar amps to phones and game consoles and controllers and enjoy them saying the item looks and feels like it's brand new
Helps in fault finding, too. Far too easy to miss something broken that's covered in shite
It also makes the tool perform closer to New …..

Most of deans repairs are closed and returned dirty af
He should clean all tools he repairs
Installing the hog ring using the soft tabletop was brilliant! 🏆
This is more like a restoration than a repair. Thanks for the video.

It's more about getting out the dirt and seeing it has gone.
Master of the craft, excellent workmanship

Great job Dean , as always . I've noticed this is the second impact wrench that is missing the push spring behind the battery retainer where You've put the o-ring, must have been opened before ...
No, milwaukee changed the design and removed the spring. They have springs anymore so the battery contacts burn up faster
My old M18 fuel hammer drill won't die.... I've performed open heart surgery on it 2 or 3 times😂

Hello, tell me, please, what kind of lubricant do you lubricate the impact mechanisms of the wrenches?
Zip ties should also work for repairing that body, they are cheap and easy to melt, and also easy to maneuver.
Perhaps but using the same plastic with glass fibre in it lasts longer.
Dean your deadly fair play I love this channel I’ve been following the tik tok with a year or so I’d say, I must ask you do you come across any snap on power tools and if so what way do you find them
I never see snapon tools.
You mentioned on a previous video that your go-to bosch repair drill sounded worse than the one you were repairing. How about a self-repair video of your bosch driver using your skil or something? Just a thought...
This is really cool. The only question I have is why put so much grease where that bushing is but none on the actual gears?
I do grease the gears, but experience has shown me not to put on to much. As it just comes back out and into the motor
@@deandohertygreaser good to know. Thanks for the tips

They are still around. TBH quality is not what it used to be but still solid enough on average but every company has gone downhill on quality control.
That’s some serious Gooch Collector vibes :)
The 3 year old tool that looked like a 20+ year old warrior now looks almost new. Can I come there to get some of that treatment for my body??

Whats the best liquid to clean out the machine, because im a mecanic and a always use brake clean, but seeing the video i made a bad call😅😅
i think i will do that this winter i got a bunch to do 😅
I've replaced a few hog rings. Haha, learned something.
Same. I feel like an idiot after seeing that.
Does kerosene have any impact on the pcb or electronic components? Because I usually use ipa but it less effective at removing all that grime on the stator.
Thanks
If I remember right he said that it doesn't do anything to the electronics
is it safe to say dont use break cleaner on these things
Question from a novice in South Africa. What grease is best for metal gears and bearings in power tools please.
The manufacturer declares it in user manual, if not try search online. Any type of lithium based grease will do, but viscosity can depend on type of power tool.
I think releasing the parts washing as ASMR would get Dean good viewing figures 😂😁
What's the solution you use in that parts cleaner? Is it just a detergent/dish washing liquid or something more special?
kerosene
@@deandohertygreaser oh wow, I would've thought Kero would attack the bonding of the soft plastic over molding, fair enough
Dean how about if we put a drop of superglue for the battery retainer instead of sotering the plastic
glue is soft, you want something hard to pack out the movement of the battery
wont be as durable over time considering the battery might be smashing in and out on a weekly basis the superglue will deform or break down quicker.
How much do you charge for this magic?

Milwaukee isn’t actually the most powerful 1/2 but gun now, that goes to the dcf961
Does that extra power come at a cost?
yes, Milwaukee tools last no time, and are generally not worth fixing when they fail outside warranty.
6:20 What does Bluetooth do on this? Edit: 8:35 - settings, gotcha 👍
The dirt inside that Milwaukee was probably full of metal particles oil and Grease. Not great stuff inside a switch.
