      That would be awesome and I agree great video and installing that ball valve will be easier than the install for me plus I already have the exact 1/4 full port ball valve from harbor freight that I can use for it. Just have to get a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer

    I installed mine today - high quality oil catch can, with all the parts installing perfectly on the car. It looks OEM!
    How often should I drain the can? 1K, 3K miles? I wish there was a floating-ball meter on the outside to visually check the level.
    Thanks for sharing this modification too. Depending on how often this canister fills, I might follow your recommendation for a quick-release drain valve.

      NP. I've found it depends on how hard you drive it. Doing timed pulls testing the 6psi and 9psi tunes generated a good amount of oil. The can is large enough to just check every oil change.

    Thank you from the video, since the valve is turn down to open, overtime will the handle ever become lose either from driving, hitting bumps, or use?

      After three years and 46k miles no issues. It's a ball valve which has quite a bit of tension in order to keep its seal. Nothing to worry about.

    What is the final mod part and where did you buy it? Also, what size hose would I need for that part to put it in a soda bottle? Thanks

    • @johnbauer4367
      @johnbauer4367  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's called a petcock valve and i picked up mine at harbor freight tools. You can find this part in any hardware store. The additional piece that adds onto the petcock valve is called a hose barb, also purchased at harbor freight and again available at any hardware store. The size of hose depends on the size of barb you use.

      I wish my catch can was as easy to open. It’s locked up tight. Waiting for an email from them.

    How much did that reducer that is screwed in to the drain port of the catch can protrude into the catch chamber? Did it allow most of the material to be drained or is there significant residual left in there?

      I would say about a thread of the adapter is above the bottom of the can

    John, where can I get the part you mentioned at 3:55? Great video! Subscribed. I just picked up a 2019 Type R.

    Hi, Do your ball valve work very well, no leak ? I think to make the same installation. Thank for the idea and response.

    • @johnbauer4367
      @johnbauer4367  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes. They work well and don't leak if you use teflon. Just emptied the can on my Si recently and a little bit of water and oil came out.

    You should have put teflon tape on threads of input and output fittings to prevent leakage, even if they are NPT threads.

    • @johnbauer4367
      @johnbauer4367  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good practice to use teflon. Since this does not experience high pressures. It didn't warrant the use of it. I've yet to experience any leaks with low pressure connections not using teflon.

    • @harryl8234
      @harryl8234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnbauer4367 you do have a point. I figured since you used Teflon tape on the ball valve fitting you should continue to use it on the other fittings. That's my 2 cent. Good video though.

    Hi John, did you get any noise after installing yours?

    • @johnbauer4367
      @johnbauer4367  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Paulose not that I could detect from either car. Can you elaborate on what the noise sounds like?

    • @philippaulose869
      @philippaulose869 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, Its like a hissing/Air gurgling noise, typically around -4psi and up on the boost gage. not under hard acceleration, can hear during normal driving while accelerating. Thanks

    • @johnbauer4367
      @johnbauer4367  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Paulose interesting... I can see how noise would come thru since the can is mounted on the firewall sound can vibrate in that way. I usually have the music turned up so I don't notice the sound but will listen on my drive home today.

    • @PURE1945
      @PURE1945 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foam tape behind the bracket will silence the vibration if any

    • @ctsteve9199
      @ctsteve9199 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a rattle at low rpm; the foam tape fixed it.
