I’m fortunate to have come into my tween/teen years in the early seventies. I cut my teeth on “The Love I Never Had”, “Remember What I Told You To Forget”, and “She’s Gone”. I didn’t know “Check It Out” until I entered the service in ‘79. They were absolutely part of my tapestry!
This group should be talked about alongside some of the greatest musical groups of all time... And NOT just R&B groups... The Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Eagles, The Jacksons, Hall and Oates, The Rolling Stones, The Spinners, The Commodores and Tavares. Never understood why they never received TOP mainstream success... And I'll throw The GAP Band in as a runner up.
My favorite is, The Love I Never Had, but It's neck and neck with Remember What I Told You to Forget and A Penny for Your Thoughts. In truth, they're one of the few groups that I love all of their music because I love their voices.
Probably one of the most underrated male vocal groups of the 70's, their lead vocals and harmonies were incredible. They were definitely one of my favorites from that era.
"Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel", "Who Dunit" & "Never Had A Love Like This Before" are my favorites. I just love the group for their fine vocals, attire and great showmanship. What a fine family, God blessed their mom and dad too!
Tavares, A BEAUTIFUL SINGING GROUP OF BROTHERS.!!!! Love all of their songs, here are my favorites, Check It Out, Remember What I Told You To Forget, It Only Takes A Minute and, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel.
Never Had A Love Like This Before, Only A Woman, Don't Take Away The Music, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, and many more are my favorites by Tavares, keep them coming man.
Appreciate the spotlight on the group. They don't get their flowers unless you lived in the Southern New England (Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut) region or you're a disco fan. And it's pronounced cape ver-dee-ann.
The Tavares Brothers. Appreciate hearing and learning about them. Never knew they were in the music business in the 60's. Enjoyed their music. My favorite songs by them were: Who Done It, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, Never Knew A Love Like This Before and A Penny For Your Thoughts. Thanks for their story.
I was only five years old when 'Remember what I told you to forget'...had no idea what they were talking about but knew every word...same thing when I was seven when 'Never Had a Love Like This Before' came out...still listen to them AT LEAST once a week at 53. lol
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!! I have been waiting for this video. I definitely was not disappointed. Tavares just had a concert last weekend and they are still going strong. My favorites are The Ghost of Love, Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel, Got To Find My Way Back To You, More Than A Woman, and She’s Gone. Everyday Is Tavares Day. 💜
Back in the day; music had a message to it! We had house parties no shooting just good old fun! At times the adults were upstairs and we were downstairs in the basement two-stepping with the ladies and boppin
I am 70 years old Tavares man. They had their own thing going on. Man these guys can say it and that song check it out. That was dope man and the rest of their songs. Thank you for mentioning their Cape Verdean roots: The Tavares were the pride of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Providence, Rhode Island! Cape Verdean Pride here!! 🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻🎉
Saw Tavares at a club in Atlantic City many, many years ago. I was too young to get into the club (but red lipstick helps.) I fell in love with all of them when they sang, "Don't Take Away the Music." Their harmonies were unmatched.

Funny you should make this, as I was just looking them up the other day and found out that they were out in the 60's. they seem to be one of very few groups who were more known in the 70's, but started in the 60's but had more or less the same sound. Almost all other had that 60's sound.

This was real music! I grew up in the 50s and message music was the norm! This garbage today, ain't music!
@@AlkebulanMan-rw8cp you got that right. It's a shame that this generation has no appreciation for real music.
Music will never go back to what it was before because we have seen it all and heard it all. Times change.
