    Brad,
    Thanks for the honest review. Glad you enjoyed shooting your force. Awesome that The Force was able to shoot the paint that the Luxe was unable to. That alone will make the difference in winning or losing a tournament, having a fun or miserable paintball day. Remember, if you need any tech support we are here for you.

      That battery maneuver is some 1998 Shocker S/F 9v hack looking work..... Seeing the inside of the grip took me back to the Defiant and original dually intimidator electronics, at 1200+ bucks in 2020, that board should be a lot cleaner and should be able to self toggle between the lipo and fore-grip, and manage through grip charging to the lipo with out some radio shack hack adapter. Harsh, but, this is a 1200+ dollar gun in 2020 from a very established group (F1/Dynasty).

    I agree!!! I think it is a Great first time marker for a new company. I wouldn’t say it is the tip of the spear for paintball in 2020, maybe a game changer in 2015ish.
    I think Field One built a great launching point for future iterations though. Next generation they can focus on the smaller things like going tooless etc.
    I really want them to succeed.

    I feel it is very strange that in the high end serious competition market. People are making a big deal about lack of easy function things like eye covers and battery setup. But not caring about what he said with the paint. I mean when trying to win a competition what really matters. For me being able to shoot brittle paint with no worries comes way before having a nicer screen, or tool less eye covers. Am I wrong?

      I know I’m late to comment on this, but no. You’re not wrong. The force is a great gun. Idk what people want a gun to do besides shoot paintballs. All the other crap is just that. Crap. Taking a single screw out isn’t a big deal. But the eclipse fan boys can’t take jack woods balls out of their mouths long enough to admit anyone else has done something right.

    Very cool transparent review about the gun man! I think nothing you said was bad in anyway about the gun. It was just a purely honest opinion. I too am super happy to hear Dynasty purchased Bob Long which is now field one and definitely want them to be successful and I am sure this is just the start to their careers as company owners, manufacturers and design specialists. I think we are going to see a lot of great products come from them in the future no doubt! Their just getting started so I think they will learn alot from the Field One Force and go on to make even better high end markers for us to enjoy!

    You don’t need a vice grip to remove that part of the bolt. Those rubber grips you use to help open jars, a rubber grip sleeve, or anything else that can provide some grip onto the bolt and an allen will do the trick. I will concede it is not as easy as some of the other high end guns though.

  • @brucecook502
    @brucecook502 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I totally agree. I love feild one, dont get me wrong, since Dynasty has been my favorite pro team since I first watched them play on T.V. back in '03, which is what inspired me and my friends to switch from years of playing in the woods only to playing speedball, and since the Bob Long markers have also been my favorites all along since I was introduced to them in '03 and my favorite team now owns and runs the B.L. product line, I do have a gigantic bias for their company's brand, but I have yet to save up for a new marker because, while the FORCE does offer some more up to date technology than my updated victory, I dont feel I can justify saving up that much money that doesn't have some of the features that exist on other new markers that I find would make life much easier than some of the shortcomings of my OLED'D VIS Engine'd V1.
    What changes t the force that would encourage me to pick one up are:, have toolless eyes and eye covers to make cleaning much quicker at the field should they get obstructed for whatever reason, and toolless grip panels. detent that have no chance of wearing out suddenly during play (I hate those old intimidator/spyder style rubber nubbin detents), and detents who's springs are not exposed when removing eye covers. Nothing more annoying than having to replace microscopic sized springs that spring to life when removing the eye covers. It would be just nice to see the detents and eyes that are built into the eye covers that many other new markers have. The rest of the marker I have no complaints about.

      Better than our older stuff, sure.
      That said though, some do it better than others these days. If you watched this whole video you would hear him talk about the Luxe X he tested before the Force not being able to shoot more than half of his old brittle paint clean, while the Force shot it all with zero issues.
      Start the video at 9:50 it'll only take about a minute of your life to see what i was referencing (I saved you some time...you're welcome) then comment again on if you still are laughing at my comment.

    excellent review, and totally agree. the gun is a catch 22 like you said, because it feels like a tank and the machining of the gun is absolutely flawless. but i also feel like the electronics remind me of an Ion, especially the dreaded ribbon wires and overly exposed board. also the bolt design is a major flaw.

    I enjoyed this video as I’m about to buy a force. Currently run a Geo and would just enjoy a second gun in general. I think the brittle paint would be a seller for me. I play through winter unlike a lot of people. My geo4 has had a couple breaks here and there and my emf100 is about a weekly broken ball. The price is a bit high but a lot of the electronics etc aren’t a worry. I care about performance and shot. They shoot great and feel great(imo)

    Rubber jaw channel lock pliers, and hockey tape. How I force turn anything without marring or wrecking finish etc. Few wraps of the tape, and grab with rubber jaws on the tape. Small rubber strap wench, whatever. They make tools for such work, but the hockey tape is kind of a fail safe.

  • @axledog7297
    @axledog7297 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A couple things:
    1) You do not want to (nor should you) use *standard* vice grips on the bolt head when separating it from the ram shaft. You want to use *padded* vice grips. Since most folks don't carry this tool in their field kit, you can use a rubber glove, t-shirt or something along those lines. The bolt head and ram shaft don't need to be torqued to hell....just snug them up by hand and you're set. The small oring on the bolt-head end of the ram shaft is there to add friction between the two to ensure they don't accidentally come apart during use. Snug up by hand, remove by hand. It's not rocket science and those of us with Victories (the VCOM is a Victory, BTW), Onslaughts and Insights have been doing this for years.
    2) The "adjustable" foregrip is one of the worst design decisions I've ever seen on a high end paintball marker. Nobody (and I repeat, NOBODY) is going to use the marker with the foregrip in the rear position, and 6 year olds are not buying high end markers. This design decision compromised the profile of the area behind the foregrip, creating an ergonomic dead end. The flat spot where your thumb rests and the near-90° transitions are flat-out uncomfortable. Field One, from one engineer to another - that was a silly decision. Please don't make that same mistake again.
    3) I'm of two minds with the Nucleus, at least in regards to your segment on disassembly. On one hand, I'm used to it (long time Victory/Insight/Onslaught owner), I'm a big boy and I know what I'm doing. The Nucleus is a big boy engine for folks who know what they're doing, not the 17 year old kid that still picks his nose and eats what he finds. It's not completely tooless, uses some non-standard seals and is a bit "different thanks to those decisions. On other other hand, the industry has shifted toward KISS/fool-proof designs for the 17 year olds previously mentioned (no offense if you're a mature 17 year old). The Force bucks this trend and presents maybe a "less intuitive" product.
    4) Agreed on the overall build quality and fit/finish of the Force, which is outstanding....and believe me, I looked for problems. I love the frame-mounted solenoid, wireless contact pads (good component choice, F1, those will hold up well), fastener sizes, radiused trigger guard. Very well done on this respect.
    5) Lack of efficiency - this is my second big complaint, next to the poor foregrip ergos. I see a mix of Insight/Onslaught and VCOM characteristics in the bolt system, but the Nucleus manages to be *less efficient* than the latter. I understand that reliability and paint handling were your main design targets (which you nailed), but come on....1200 shots from a 77ci tank is pretty darn poor. Additionally, when it comes time to replace that rear internal ram u-cup, that will be a huge pain.
    My conclusion: You can afford to have poor foregrip ergonomics OR poor efficiency, but not both. I love certain aspects of the marker, I really wanted to support you guys, but those two items were the dagger. I look forward to your next attempt. Good review, Brad.

    • @cbradquillen
      @cbradquillen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad said he got 6 pods + a hopper on a 3K psi fill on a 68 ci tank. That's not so bad IMO.
      The deal breaker for me is the non-adjustable auto-off timer. It turns off after 15 minutes, and that's that. I'm old, dammit...in a scenario game, it might be a 5 minute walk to the respawn, then a 5 minute rest, then 5 minutes back to the fight. Then, you pop up to shoot someone and nothing happens! This happened the first time I bought a Bob gun with a Frenzy board (it's the same situation). I had to order an older-style frame from Dirty Works and run down a Tadao board to get around this rather vexing problem.

    I think of the force like a high end 4x4 pick up truck that could climb a tree but has manual roll up windows and you still have to get out and lock the hubs.
    Other than that it will run with anything....
    So if you dont mind locking the hubs then..you got a brittle paint shooting sherman tank.

    The luxe is a much nicer gun the build quality is much better and the repair ability is much better also the engine is easier to service the person complaining about breaking paint should probably check the paint size and there barrel insert size that is probably why you broke paint because the luxe is extremely gentle on paint the luxe is also lighter by 8 to 10 ounces that doesn’t sound like much but it is definitely noticeable so in my opinion the luxe is a better more luxurious option

    A couple points, this marker isnt really based off of the Victory it's more based off of the Onslaught. Something to note about BL designs is that they have a break in period that's rather long. It will only shoot better as it gets used. BL markers usually will usually shoot better (sometimes remarkably better) with a little tuning, unlike most other markers these days.
    I love the ergonomics on the late BL markers. All the other companies are on this trend to stretch the marker out as far as possible, which is why I dont think I will ever use my CS2 again. The CS2 shoots great, but unless you have long arms it's not really ergonomic.
    One more thing when taking the bolt system apart it's not likely that you will actually need a vice grip. Depending on the part, there are a lot of tricks to getting it open easy.

    • @jonathanschultz4770

      @Jason Henley I wouldn't want to use vise grips to remove a drain plug either. I would consider a car that required it to be a poor design.

    The "Force" is overpriced, should be at the same price level like a DSR/170R/XLS and there's no need to use u-cup seals..i mean..dlx and pe can built guns with regular seals and they shoot buttery smooth and consitent..

  • @nichepaintball5032

    The design really lets me down, it's so bland and boring. The resale on these are terrible as well, people are losing tons on them for a year old gun, seeing 1k all over the place on the BST. We know that Bob Long can really make some beautiful guns and I think they need to redesign this marker as well. I'm sure it's a solid performer but for me personally looks are huge in my world.

      I have to agree...I mean put this thing next to a g6r just to compare the looks of it, and the Force looks like a $250 gun imo. It's just kinda blocky and boring...like whoever designed it just didn't care how it looked.

    6 pods and a hopper is less than 8 pods, thats dog shit efficiency, ices get 10 and cs2/x gets 12...not to mention its heavier than any otehr guns, louder than any other gun. It has no redeeming qualities imo

    Bob Long gun designs have always been that way. They require some kind of specialized tool or in this case Vise Grips lol to disassemble a part. Don’t buy one unless it’s going on a picture frame! Forget it. It’s overpriced to be in a frame
