Here are the requirements for change of name on BVN in Nigeria:
Valid means of identification, e.g. National Identification Card, Voters Card, driver's license, or International Passport
Your BVN Number
Account Name
Newspaper Publication
Marriage Certificate: This one is only for married women who no longer use their father’s last name and now use that of their husbands in account opening. Here, you will need to present your marriage certificate showing your desired name and a newspaper-published copy.
Court Affidavit
NOTE: The name you wish to change must appear in the Newspaper Publication and Court Affidavit.

Ask your bank for a BVN demographic form and fill it then scan and send it back to them, with your ID card abroad
