  • Blue Origin’s New Shepard reusable launch system has suffered an anomaly after being launched from the Launch Site One in West Texas, on 12 September 2022, at 14:26 UTC (09:26 CDT). The New Shepard capsule carried 34 payloads. Two payloads were placed on the exterior of the New Shepard booster for ambient exposure to the space environment. NS-23 was the ninth mission, launch and landing, for this New Shepard launch vehicle (NS3).

as SciNews said above, no people onboard, but also, it in fact was a soft landing, the inmense amount of dust is because right before landing some little thrusters are activated to make the landing even softer, the escape engine is a totally different engine and fuel system, which is a little solid rocket booster located in the center of the capsule

Good no one was onboard, but this was an excellent abort execution.
I was starting to wonder if the rocket was getting burnt out from so many flights, I would be willing to bet it did.
Not sure if extra precautions in terms of preparing the rocket for launch are taken with crew on board.
Given BO's snail pace at building things, this is probably the end if New Shepard. I doubt they will build another rocker and I am certain the crew capsule needs to be rebuilt after using the abort system.

      Are you sure about this?
Both the rocket and capsules used for all manned launches showed signs of resuse.
My understanding was BO had only 1 operational booster and 1 capsule.
Regardless they will be grounded until at least the 2nd half of next year for the FAA investigation. If they fly again, the next flight will NOT be a crewed mission.

@@jayrod9979 I’m sure. They have a few spares built waiting to be assembled. They don’t just build one rocket and be done with it.

Like a giant bottle rocket 🚀. I love fireworks. But all the green peacers out there are probably not too happy about launching stuff into the air. Carbon footprint, you know. Greenhouse gas and the planet. That was probably equivalent to a million cows farting at the same time. Can't wait for the next one...wait lemme grab some popcorn.
