Now that I have found it I listen to it every morning to start my day. I am 69 years old and feel you are never to old. To live life right. If only more young people could get the message and understand it. I have seen a lot in my life and hope to see a lot more.
a) congratulations b) in all my years of watching TH-cam, I've never seen a video where the "like" button wasn't adequate enough. simple awe inspiring!
Easily one of the most incredible short films ever created, even if some call it an ad to promote your guild. The cinematography is perfect. That being said I think you’ve also managed to further inspire a lot of us that feel out of place in this day and age. It makes us want to shake off the chains of our corporate jobs and trade in our pensions for this, a simpler better life. I’ve had the priviledge of knowing a handful of people that gave up everything to live this way. And every one of them is happy to the core of their being. Kings to you, and please continue to showcase this lifestyle. These videos are developing quite a following.
I own three Neeman (Northmen) belts. the quality is superb, the finish is first rate, the fittings are flawless. I extend Northmen my very highest recommendation.
So many years I've been watching this video and it's still the best!Art of a craftsmenship!...and inspiration for many of us.Keep continuing and thank you!👍🙂
Where do I sign up? Greetings from Louisiana, USA. I have to say over the last few years sitting at my desk as an 'engineer' staring at spreadsheets I have grown tired of it and have found myself wanting to do more with my hands and really create something. Sitting there 8-10 hours a day watching videos of homesteaders and craftsmen like you, I cant wait to get home and spend the last few hours of the day working on something. I have sort of become a jack of all trades. From gardening, blacksmithing, woodworking, and recently leatherworking. I hope one day soon I can leave the desk behind and do them full time. Until then I have to get by day by day and in the mean time continue learning and practicing. Seeing you guys making it while keep quality and value in what you do gives me hope that some day I can do the same. Maybe Ill one day start the Cajun Guild.
I agree with you. I have just started doing exactly the same thing. I don't think men were made to sit behind desks. I think that made be why there is so much road rage, bar fights, etc. Lol. No way to burn off any testosterone or do anything manly. I am now doing crafts I learned from my English grandmother. I have started making heirloom angel dolls, all hand sewn and embroidered from repurposed gowns that women want to donate or throw away. They will still be around in a hundred years, just like these tools.
I can relate, but also keep in mind that what makes these Northmen unique is their pride in craftsmanship. Doing your job or role or craft with the utmost precision, hard work, and honor which results in a product that you can put your name on without hesitation. I would suggest that leaving your desk for another calling is a great dream, but in the meantime, if you can make your work a source of pride, you will be halfway there. If you are an engineer, be an excellent, detail oriented, and respectable engineer. Have a good one.
Jacob. ."The Birth of a Wooden House"...and the old "Forest Log Cabin Building Restoration" ....and now this video....I frequently re-watch for their beauty and inspiration. God bless.
Christ what an incredible film. It's usually very difficult to tell an effective story without dialogue and too often youtube videos like this bring nothing more than cinematography to the table, but this was genuinely very well put together. (And I damn well need one of those watches now)
Outstanding! I am a former U.S. Marine and will be moving to Alaska where I will join the "Colonel" who is a great man and a second father to me! Soon more of my brothers and comrades will be joining us in the North...This video and John Neeman have been an inspiration to us! God bless the Northman! Semper Fidelis Cpl M.
Love this channel, and everything ya'll stand for. Family and your craft, taking care of your elders brothers and the land. May your harvests be bountiful on the upcoming year. May the world not deter you from your path. Also keep up the good work.
A way of life, purpose, and contribution to ones self and homeland. On need not be a Latlander to understand this. He need only understand himself, and where he fits in the places less traveled. Skills can be learned. The will within oneself to become truly great at them... is rare.
Saw this incredible vid when it first aired. After all these years, are you guys still going strong? You still there? The world, right now, needs more of your ilk.
I would rather be living in the woods than walking around bed bath and beyond with a blank stare waiting on my wife all the while my soul is disappearing and I am slowly dying inside.
Sighs of calmness come from deep inside me as i watched this “ad” (🤣) for the first time. i knew it was an ad from comments before i completely watched this Amazing video. Like a moth to a flame, i will ‘watch’ this videoAd over, and over again for the sheer enjoyment it gives/gave me. thank you!
I've always been amazed by the quality og your videos. Awesome cinemtography, great filming and music, and also a great way to showcase your products and the process of making them
Exceptional vid from an exceptional collective, now guild! Yes, Congratulations on your growth and development. As working professional in the creative fields, it thrills me to see such mastery of the entire process and content of the topic. This video is a true and complete representation of the guild and its work, bravo! Here in the USA, as elsewhere, trade unions grew out of the European guilds, and within my profession, the guild system is the only practical way of carrying on this very important knowledge. It pains me that here, the unions are under such a state of attack and contraction; people must not be rendered "obsolete" by our machines and robots. Long Live The Northmen!!!
I agree - it is a beautiful video and I imagine that Nature is like this in the Ural Mountains. It is the hard but beautiful landscape of the Northlands.
the production value in being a youtube hero... everything is brand new not a scuff not a scrape. good job of not getting too many shots of your tracks in and pre shoot.
I'm a 30 year old Dane, had a hard time figuring out where I was supposed to be and what to become in this world. My calling is the wild. Nature in all it's simplicity and complexity. I need to live in the wild, gather, hunt or farm my own food and build what I need. My only issue is, however many items I have gathered and bought second hand, I will be lonely. Aside from being a hermit type of man, I need company now and then. It's the only real reason why I haven't picked up my stuff and ventured out. This might be a marketing video, but it made my mind race. Thoughts of how I will live out my days and those I would share them with. I loved this.. Now I need to find me a master craftsman to teach me woodworking in all the proper ways.
I use to watch your videos, I have some saved on my little old iPod, man I’ve been trying to find the TH-cam channel for the past two years thank goodness I came across it.
I wish I lived in the North, you guys are amazing! I'm in Adelaide, South Australia which today (Christmas day) will be the hottest Christmas day here since 1945, over 40°C
Great work, Gentlemen. Very well done! Some of those shots remind me of places here in Alaska, and I can relate to waking up in the morning and having to start a warming fire first thing. Excellent!
God I hope this idea spreads, we need craftsmen now more than ever, I live in the US and we have become such a wasteful society, we need instant gratification, not many here pursue quality anymore and it saddens me beyond measure, Where I live in West Michigan we had some of the finest furniture makers in the world in Grand Rapids, The craftsman brought their skills from places like the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Germany and England and helped build the city as we know it.. now, there is very little left of the craftsmen, only mass producers like Herman Miller and Trendway and Hayworth, I understand the fact that The craftsman were " Earning a living" but they took pride in their work and put their names to it because they were proud if their Labors. Revive the Guilds, teach the young and preserve the knowledge, before it is lost to the ages..
This calms the soul. Many young men, including me, stuck in to the every day life of the big city and dreams to be part of natural, calm, healthy life in nature and doing things that in our DNA, like craft, hunting and hiking.
As a young man growing up in and now away from Babylon into my celtic heritage denied by thousands of years of colonization, these videos really speak to me. A recent opportunity to find a place in the woods with a market, house without water, inner walls, or electricity in northern upstate New York has been calling to me since I first saw it. I do activism and the place calls out to me to build and live a good life in service to others which in turn serves my highest self. Would Northmen ever consider helping me to bring back these traditional ways where its needed most? I wished to start a Smart Heart Farm there but creating things with with my hands and improving each day is something I didn't have access to until I was at the construction workshop at Standing Rock. If you gave me this opportunity I would see the land used well to help young men who have been without a rite of passage nor truth nor real responsibility in their lives to find guidance. A northmen guild in my homestate of North Dakota would be very do able as well and after my last stand at Standing Rock I have friends all over. This feels like the last missing piece and I hope we can speak more. Go raibh maith agat mo cara.
Excellent piece of art(as an commercial). Watching you building your own home, recognizing the skills and the determination that it takes to bring everything to an end, to get it done and finished in superior quality, makes me belive that your "Northmen - Brand" should become extremely succsessful. And even more important(to me at least), very trustworthy. Well done!
Beautiful video, your products look amazing really can see the quality in the craftsmanship. Wish your knives werent so expensive but I understand why premium price for premium quality.
I feel every particle of my existence yearn to be better each moment more than the last after watching this film. I can be sure I am not alone feeling this.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY TIME!!!! AND - - - - - - - THANK GOD!! I wasn't sure I could hold on much longer!! XOXO Again - tears for gut-wrenching authenticity of what human nature looks and feels like. This *is* the direction HOME!
when its around 5c and 95-100% humidity feeling cold temp is similar as -10 dry air. to -15c is ok, get used to it, where it starts to get colder then -15/-20 is where it gets really cold. but like i said even 15c 100% humidity in tropics you can get hypothermic
I'm a sixty year old woman from the Scottish Highlands now living in Ireland. I'm currently on crutches and a leg splint, defying the "rest" order so I can get movement again. We own a small stone cottage and a small acre of land and my disabled husband and I are trying to become self sufficient. Because we have to. And I watch this and it makes me cry, because I want to live THERE and I want to be young and fit again. Because I have Icelandic ancestors whose souls still sing to me. I know this channel is for men. But sometimes, we women have that wildness and those qualities in us too. Doesn't make us any less feminine, and no, I don't want to BE a man. I just want to live like this, please. To turn back time, find my own space like this, get there sooner and create a life with my own two hands that nobody can take from us. And perhaps that's why this makes me cry. Sorry. It's beautiful. It has meaning. It's like ancestry showing us the road Home. I'll go away now...
PS my trade in life until I retired to become my husband's carer was animal hide tanning, using traditional methods. I can light fires using steel and tinder. I can bring down meat on the hoof with a bow, skin, butcher and prep it for food. I've never been strong enough to build a log cabin, but I can do the housewifely things such as soap making from scratch, naalbinding (I used to be a Viking Age reenactor) etc. I so with there was a channel like this for women.
"Our Father and Mother who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy names. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven." I literally thought this as I watched this video........ This is what must done to restore humans, to restore our precious garden.
John Doe, 65°N? you've got me by 4°N. You are right there is always more North to go, at least until I hit the city formerly know as Barrow. When I look at the rest of Alaska I do indeed feel like a southerner. I picked 55°N in my pervious comment to include Latvia and the current Northmen Guild.
i am 17 and i have always said that nature, craft and tradition is what humanity needs now and you have put it all in a video thank you so much.
U is 22 now?
The sneakiest ad I've ever been presented with. Filming was impeccable. I'm not even mad, in fact I wish all ads were like this.
IS this actually a promo? Pretty sure you guys are geniuses.
Believe it or not this was, and still is, a way of life for many folks. It is the meek which inherit the earth. And meek doesn’t mean weak...
The funniest TH-cam comment I’ve ever read, and I agree. I’m not mad either! It’s better than any film I’ve seen in a long time.
Now that I have found it I listen to it every morning to start my day. I am 69 years old and feel you are never to old. To live life right. If only more young people could get the message and understand it. I have seen a lot in my life and hope to see a lot more.

I agree
Totally agree. Congratulations from Spain.
True!
Some of the most beautiful film work and craftsmanship I have seen in my years, true masters of their field.

Incredible craftsmanship, incredible beauty, stunning landscape.
Thank you for taking my breath away.

ever time I watch a new video, and the older ones, it makes me long for a simpler life. it looks so peaceful where you guys film.
"So what do you guys do?"
" oh we're master craftsmen"
"How about that guy?"
"oh, that's bob, he goes in cold water"
He is tempering his body. There are multiple benefits that come from that.
"Our stunt man"
@@rainmaker3987 please do explain more
His name is wim hof and he is the iceman
Temper your body...

The call of the wild - fainter as I get older, but art like this gets the blood flowing again! Excellent work.
This is who I am, this is who I want to be. One of the Northmen.

This is so amazing! Been following John Neeman for about 5 years and now this happens. Holy shit, the future looks bright after all!
That is simply a masterpiece...
Great job :D
God bless Northmen and all he's crew
Last of the real men. I hope these few endure somehow.
They need wives to bare sons so make more men.
lordmasterization hopefully they don't pick American women as a wives. They will be back in the forest living. 😂
We will.
I would rather be living in the woods than walking around bed bath and beyond with a blank stare waiting on my wife all the while my soul is disappearing and I am slowly dying inside.
Robert Dennis - ha! Me too
Wow!
You are amazing.
You are not only keeping old knowledge alive but living it.👍👍👍

It is the hard but beautiful landscape of the Northlands.

Inspiring! My friend watched this and now he plans to go up north to learn how to do these things!
Great job for into ! I was getting ready for the rest of the movie.
Krasny video, krasna priroda, mate to skvele. Bravo!
the production value in being a youtube hero... everything is brand new not a scuff not a scrape. good job of not getting too many shots of your tracks in and pre shoot.

I'm in Adelaide, South Australia which today (Christmas day) will be the hottest Christmas day here since 1945, over 40°C
Element45 global warming friend.
Jst read stuff about ice meltings and Alaska is getting warmer every year..
Come merry Latvian woman and you will stay here. I have friend from Australia living here. Hi is happy. Better food, better woman :)
Global warming is caused by overpopulation and the consumption that goes with it.
Great work, Gentlemen. Very well done! Some of those shots remind me of places here in Alaska, and I can relate to waking up in the morning and having to start a warming fire first thing. Excellent!
Fills my heart with love, big up!

it is beautiful! Video, sound, all! Good job, thanks you!
inspiring and quality production
Amazing. Like something out of a Jeremiah Johnson film set in the Baltic realms...
The Bear guy really is hardcore!
Probably the best ad I´ve ever seen.
I feel every particle of my existence yearn to be better each moment more than the last after watching this film.
I can be sure I am not alone feeling this.
If you put this much effort into making an ad you deserve my business
This was both inspirational and emotional. Fantastic job. I seldom up vote commercials, but this was something else. Hats off.
прям фильм маленький. приятно смотреть. с душой всё
You are the most beautiful channel on youtube and I loved Vidyohatkm much always Otabekm and I like your way of life and I hope I live like you

You guys never fail to impress.
If this was a show, I'd watch the crap out of it! Man, how I wish there was something like this airing..
man, I've never seen the snow, I can't even imagine how cold is there
Do you have a fridge? It's colder than that... Do you have a freezer? It gets colder than that sometimes as well :)

"Our Father and Mother who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy names.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven."
I literally thought this as I watched this video........
This is what must done to restore humans, to restore our precious garden.
It's only 'Our Father' that Jesus prayed..Mathew's Gospel chapter 6..he is speaking about God, not our human parents.
I just love your videos. Simply beautiful. And inspiring.
this guild should include all Northmen. everyone above 55°N. Alaska, Canada, Russia, Europe.
These are real men. Men who are hard enough to face the cold and the wild but soft enough of heart to care.
Omg ! That's great scenes man ! You're awesome !
Thank you.
