It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence and everything to do with object permanence. It's something a lot of people struggle with, especially if you have ADHD, or something similar. If you don't see it, then it simply ceases to exist. This was a great no buy closet organization. You should be super proud of yourself.
If you ever need more closet space, you can get those industrial pipes and hang it just outside your door beside your mirror possibly. The only thing is it's out in the open and can probably get cluttered feeling pretty fast. Some people take a minimalist approach with displaying their clothes on there! The closet looks awesome!

I live in a rural area, it’s an hour from anywhere and I get really restless so I leave my house just to do something way more than I should. Wish I could feel better being stationary.
Who is giving John clothing he doesn't like as presents? Can he ask for something else or ask to choose the clothes? Or something to mean that you don't have unworn clothes sitting in your closet. If you are donating them, consider a homeless shelter rather than a thrift store since they're brand new
They were from relatives for christmas, and I've since talked to them, but there still seems to be a few that are floating around the house. I was donating directly to homeless outreach before, but was told they were more in need of toiletries for future donations, which makes sense. It's only a few items now, so i'll leave it to him😅 Maybe a new apprentice will need them (since they're construction clothes)
