This week I challenged myself to start small. Declutter my living room jacket closet. This closet being unusable was making it so other parts of my house were suffering too. The task of cleaning up my space was creating a huge mental block for me. Hang out with me today while I attempt to make things a little easier on myself.
As a 32 yr old lady. This is my kind if content. Relatable and a reminder I need to declutter again 😅

Quiv! I cannot stress how much of a BANGER this video is! It’s so good! It's a nice chunky length, features close-up time with the cats and had random asmr moments. You really got to show off your creativity in this as well! I LOVE this. I recently had a bug problem and realized the extent of my clutter and was forced to get rid of things, but now I really see the value in my things and think harder about want I want to bring into my home. Really kind of vibed with "you can't take your stuff with you to the grave" as well

My husband and I will go through phases of whatever sweatshirt/jacket we like to wear, so those are the 1-2 that stay hanging by the door. When we get bored of it and switch to a different one, the previous one goes to the bedroom closet (the only closet we have in our apartment). Also, so lovely to see you again!! The twitch streams aren't really my vibe, so I've missed hearing from you!
I got rid of all my tapes, cd's and DVDs recently. I feel so much lighter. You are doing a great job!!!

Something I heard that really made a difference in how I look at the items I'm contemplating decluttering - if the item was suddenly stolen/lost/disappeared, how much effort would you put into replacing that exact item? If you wouldn't put any, that let's you know it's okay to let it go.

You could -shocker- cut out the motive of grandpas tshirt and frame it. It's still a memory, but easy to "store" on a wall as an art piece!
i hope you know how helpful of a video this was-- i literally did the exact same thing with my own closet and my t shirt drawer while watching this and have a whole box of clothes i don't need now. i'm not like 100% done yet but i'm shocked at the amount of progress i was able to make and i truly appreciate you sharing your own experience, it's comforting to know i'm like not alone in that experience

Regarding the grandpa shirt near the beginning, have you considered framing it? That might be a nice way to memorialize him if wearing it feels weird.
I remember ages ago you trying to clear up the landing and all of John's tools, lol :) I think you need to find a cabinet for that space.......not huge but something that you can put all of John's tools in, and jackets/shoes that won't fit in the closet. Behind closed doors, it won't look so cluttered to you. Great storage and organized! Maybe something vintage even. For the closet door, I would hang one of those pocket organizers on the inside. A place for your gloves, scarves, hats, any small items that need putting somewhere. But John's tools seem to migrate to the landing a lot, and they need a designated home. A cabinet would do it! As for what I do, I have a coat rack, and only the few jackets or coats I wear that season are hung there. The rest go in the closet :)
We don't have a coat closet at all, so we have coat hooks and a shoe rack by the door, with a basket for outerwear. The only things there at any given time are that season's coats (1 each), 2 pairs of shoes, and that season's accessories (sunhat and sunblock or knit hat, scarf, and gloves. Everything else stays in our clothes closets upstairs. If I want to wear a different coat randomly one day, or different shoes, I just put them back in my clothes closet at the end of that day.

I Just cleaned out our storage closet that had turned into the chokey from Matilda. Glade to know I am not the only lady who struggles to manage storage spaces. Loved seeing all cats in action.

Omg my husband WILL NOT stop buying flannels!!! It took me YEARS to get him to stop buying thick work socks everytime he saw them at the store, and he just moved on to flannels. But the house is cluttered mostly cuz of me and my thrifting habits.

This was pretty fun and nice to watch, and the reality of having to let go of stuff you're irrationally or rationally attached to is nice to see, cause even though it is a struggle it also helps you mentally. Also Ethan this entire video was SO funny lol
Your cats being so chaotic reminds me of my chaotic cats. lol. My husband has sleep apnea and one night he heard whistling from the tubing and surprise surprise, the tube was punctured with 100s of little holes from my cats biting the tubing🤣

We have two coat hooks in our entry way
One is one where current jackets go (jackets that I wear most often) and the other is for jackets that I wear for special occasions only (heavy winter/rain/etc). Then we have a closet in another room for them at the end of season.
