I saw some people made fun of Chinese quality. If you know a little bit about China transportation industry, I can say with certainty that China’s roads/especially bridges have the best design parameter redundancy. And the construction quality in the past 20 years is the best in the world (not one of the best, but simply the best). Because trucks are usually overloaded, and even intentionally modified for such purpose, there are many vehicles running on the road, especially muck/ore/steel trucks, overloaded 2 times or even 3 times. For example, the design load is 50 tons. The actual weight is 100 tons, 150 tons, and some crazy drivers have hauled 200 tons. There was tragic news of bridge crash in Jiangsu province a couple of months ago, the truck was overloaded to 171 tons on the bridge. Of course, there are problems with road management, but this is the status quo of the entire transportation industry in China. This has also caused some unique truck culture, Chinese trucks generally have the potential to upgrade, stronger axles, bridges, frames, etc, and cheap parts and repairs. So in many cases, the imported trucks, mainly European ones, do have a good reputation for fuel economy, versatility, and value preservation on the 2nd hand market, but they cannot be modified for heavy work and are not suitable for running on the plateau, most importantly, they are expensive to repair. I see some of those trucks have some pretty massive springs that could definitely handle more tonnage than an American truck but they just seem to always over load the trucks so it still doesn't help them.

I drove one that had a 23,000 lbs front and 100,000 lbs rears with 25 inch wheels not the standard 24.5 inch wheels, when loaded to the maximum weight it just rode better down the freeway. if you put a third 20,000 pusher axle on it have a 14 wheel truck with a GVW of 96,000 lbs.
