    My new drip watering system helped create an over-moist environment that encouraged an amazing growth in the few horsetails I had in my huge garden (much to my dismay). However, after watching your video (and reading other information from reputable sites) I realize that the plant that I'm usually swearing at may, instead, end up being my FAVORITE plant! I've often wondered what the heck horsetails were good for...and now I know. What an eye opener. Thank you so very, very much.

    Very interesting, I always thought of it as a particularly pernicious weed, it's good to know I can use it in a tea. I had heard that it had anti fungal properties and might be useful as an organic fungicidal spray against potato blight etc. down at my allotment, however I haven't found much in the way of information to back this up and haven't tried it out in an experiment either.

    +Denise Frickey, I'm sure your comments were meant to be helpful, but I would like to respond by saying that all people do not learn the same way. Some learn by hearing, some by reading, some seeing visuals, some with all the senses, some not. Superfood has accommodated all. I do not need background music either, but it seems everyone is doing it, so I tolerate it. Except most have the music louder than the narrator, which is difficult for me as I have a hearing deficit and the loud music interferes with narration. At least Superfood has their music toned softer than the narrator. The narrator does have a clear, distinct voice and most pronunciations are good. The main thing is that the message comes forth. I too noticed the nutritive pronunciation. It was almost correct, but not quite. However, since the message was in print as well, we all know what he was meaning to say. A minor and forgivable infraction of the whole message being presented. I once upon a time did transcriptions of medical reports and you would be surprised how poorly doctors pronounce their medical terminology. All in all, I think Superfood does a marvelous job of presentation in all their videos. I have learned much from them and appreciate their work greatly. I have never yet met an individual who was all the way perfect all the time. If you meet this qualification, I would like to meet you, or maybe you should make some videos for youtube, or have you done that already.Blessings to all.

    Man-made isolates of Silica are just like all the other man made isolate vitamins and minerals. They will stimulate but leter enervate. Whereas, if you consume the whole plant ie Horsetail or any herb, you get all the added buffers that enable the body to recognize, break down, utilize and eliminate the herb with no enervation.

    • @silverhranch
      @silverhranch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What does leter enervate mean?

    • @emilybh6255
      @emilybh6255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@silverhranch I meant later enervate. Thanks for catching that. Enervate means to weaken. When you consume something other than what is appropriate for our species the body doesn't recognize it or know how to utilize it. So at best it stimulates and appears to be working but it can eventually do just the opposite. I've seen this using liquid "Trace Minerals" which resulted in a worse case of Pica in a cat.

    • @silverhranch
      @silverhranch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Enervate Effect... interesting. - I learned something thanks!

    • @emilybh6255
      @emilybh6255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@silverhranch You are welcome. Yes. It turns out it is not enough to use part of a Nature grown plant by itself ( that has been isolated from its constituents or the other parts of the plant and "improved" by man in a laboratory). The synergy of all the parts working in concert is lost. The GI tract doesn't recognize it. I discovered this nearly 20 years after thinking the man-made so called "natural" vitamins and minerals were the be- all- end- all in the early 2000s. It was better late then never I suppose but I wish back in the 90s I'd spent as much time learning about whole herbs as I did on man made "natural" food supplements.

    I know an area near my home that is along the river shoreline forest that has 100's of acres of what I believe is horsetail. They grow from 1 to 5 ft like your video says, and look like mini versions of bamboo. They grow straight up, and I do not see the shaggy tail end on them, at least not on the long ones. Does this sound like the right plant? Actually after google imading I found one called, Equisetum hyemal which looks like the one I found. They also grow along side 100's of acres of fiddlehead/ferns which I harvested today which filled up two grocery bags. Speaking of fiddleheads, when are you guys going to do a video on fiddleheads?

      It has no use what so ever and is almost impossible to kill it even with weed killer.Its a pest like the plant version of a rat.
      It can be killed with a daily spray of diesel over a long period of time.But even if you think you have got rid of it after months of spraying fuel around your garden youll be sat there enjoying a nice g&t in the garden and the fucker will pop up somewhere. Its a cunt of a plant. Also dogs piss on it so dont eat it.

    Good information, you have a good set of informational videos. Two suggestions however. Please use more photos and less text. I am very visual, and don't need to be both read to and read for myself simultaneously. Second, please watch your pronunciations. You seem to have difficulty with the scientific nomenclature. And you should learn to say 'nutritive' correctly. It is not 'noo trit tit iv'. You are adding a syllable. It is 'noo tri tiv'. Don't mean to nit pick, I was just taught that if you want to represent yourself as an expert or authority, you should master the language of your subject.

I've read that one needs to fix low lying areas where water is accumulating as well as using dolomite lime to increase the PH in your soil, I'm going to do that on my rocky areas that are difficult to weed, but I have decided to harvest the horsetails that grow throughout the rest of my 9000 sq ft garden., Just turnin' lemons into lemonade!

    Horsetail absolutely wrecks your garden. It takes over and is a very voracious pest leaving little room for anything else. It's one of the worst plants you can get. Consider this before planting it.

      It's a weed, so yes it'll easily take over. It's incredibly healthy though and it can even remove aluminum from your system, preventing various neurological diseases, so you might wanna lower your tone.

      Andrew Fan You mean bow down to your fairytale books? No thanks I'd rather trust logic, reason and science in this present world I reside in.

      Vaughn Malecki,
      You may trust logic, reason and science, but you really need to double check your ability to comprehend what you are reading. There is no mention of million year old plants in the video. Try reading the line below that comes from this video, and see if you can tell that it says nothing about million year old plants.
      "the descendant of a large Equus sedum species that grew millions of years ago in the Paleozoic era"
