Back in 2014, I started having seizures out of nowhere and a met with a neurologist who told me it was because I had an allergy to MSG and to stop eating foods with MSG. Fast forward a few months and the seizures continued. It turned out that the seizures were caused by a brain tumor. I think the doctor had an anti MSG agenda. I’m fine now and enjoy food with MSG without worrying about anything.
A bunch of racist soccer mom's and food executives went on a crusade against it, like 30 years ago and people still have a bias when there has been no evidence that it's any worse than salt.

@@akinigiri , she definitely had an agenda. I was also pregnant at the time. I had a seizure in the hospital about 10 hours after giving birth and was given a MRI and a proper diagnosis. I’m not defending her at all, but I think her agenda got in the way. I left a pretty scathing review on Google.

@@lukeh9300 That's false. It was a rumour started a long time ago. MSG is simply a salt, and in fact it has lower sodium than table salt per gram. It's naturally occurring in several foods as well, like mushrooms and tomatoes.
Well since we live next to China,we also use msg(aji no moto) in many of Chinese inspired Indian foods,the top noodles brand of India was also accused of using msg in high amounts and had to deal with law enforcement and was banned for sometime,well msg is salt on crack as Roger said,it's not bad for health but upto certain limits but msg can really fuck up your digestive system if you consume it daily.
I never heard anyone died bcuz of msg
but I have heard cases in which person had to go for operation bcuz of excessive msg intake, there's also a thing that most Asians grow up eating these cuisines,an Indian will also throw atleast 5-6 chillies and 6-7 variety of spices to make Indian version of French fries but I have seen westerners struggling to even digest this light spicy food,so you can say it's bcuz of genetics.

All of you are wrong. MSG is not a "salt". It is one part salt and one part glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is an amino acid found in savory foods like tomato's, cheese, mushrooms, oily fish, etc. MSG is made by fermenting sugar, so the "chemical" MSG that you can buy at the store is the same as glutamic acid naturally found in savory food.
MSG is UMAMI. Salt magnifies flavor, where MSG ADDS flavor (savory/UMAMI). It is not bad for you at all, in fact if you use MSG you'll consume much less salt because in order to flavor a dish with MSG you only need 1/2 or even 1/4 of the amount of salt you would normally use.
