I like the Security 9. As for the mag release, according to Ruger and their paperwork, it isn’t a slide release, and they recommend sling-shot as the method to reload.
I just picked up the s9 as a random 9mm buy. If you read the manual it says the slide stop is not a slide release. It actually wants you to slingshot it closed. You can also slam a mag in the well and it will auto forward, chambering a round. Safety is obnoxious but after a couple flicks it loosens up enough to swipe up. Not my favorite pistol but great for the money!

I’ve had mine for two years, and it’s a real good quality solid pistol for the price. Ideal for home, defense, personal protection, or just fun at the range. I also think it’s ideal for first time gun owners or shooters. Keep the gun clean. I actually pimped mine out with some performance parts, and I absolutely adore the gun. Super easy to rack to slide. and it has a very slim profile that is ideal for medium size or small hands. You can really grip the gun exceptionally well because of that slim profile. Absolutely love my Ruger security nine.

I have the security 380 lite rack and absolutely love it. I’ve been shooting for over 20 years and it’s the best gun I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.

I picked one up about 6 months ago at the gun show bc the price was too tempting to pass on. I took it out when I bought I and shot it out of the box. Very accurate and at times felt almost too easy to manipulate. My key points about it, good and bad. Good: -lightweight -great capacity -very accurate up to 25 yards -easy disassemble and assemble -great overall felt recoil Bad: -also had 2 misfires but both were ammo related (Always test different options as guns will have their preferred rounds.) -for me it's a bit long to cc -trigger is OK -sights are OK -bit snappy with muzzle flip Overall I was thinking of trading up recently and took to the range today one last time. However, after 200 rounds or so I decided to keep it bc it shot better than ever and despite 1 misfire it was dead on accurate with a bunch of different ammo, jhps, rn, 115gr, 124gr. All great. For under $300 it's worth it to me.

I currently have a Ruger Max-9 and love it but was planning to add a LCP Max for pocket backup. While I was looking on GunBroker I came across a Security-9 that I could not let slide for the price. I own a security 9 Pro and have found it to be a very reliable, fun and accurate gun to shoot. I own several other much more expensive guns but this budget gun shoots just as well and is just as reliable as the more expensive ones.

I have a ruger security-9 and the issues I have are feeding and ejecting. It fired great my first 500 rounds and now it's almost every round getting caught on the ejector or just not ejecting at all. I find out this morning this is why they discontinued this fire arm

Take a file and lightly hit where the slide stop “catches”. I have a sec9 compact pro and it was the same when I got it. Could hardly drop slide by pressing slide stop. Couple licks with a file and easy as it should be now

Love the sights but want the safety now. Been a Ruger fan all my life after my Dad bought me a 10/22 when I was bout 10-11. 50 now so I’m partial but can’t beat Ruger service if you did have a problem. Never needed it so far

I just bought them compact if you look in your book it says it's a slidestock not a release they want you to slingshot it says what mine says That's all I got to say about that
Yes Sir. I now know that’s what their plan is and I guess they know best. I made a mistake and I treated it like most other semi-automatic handguns that I have fired and I didn’t even consider that it was designed with that intention. All of the training that I’ve ever received, especially any tactical reloads, has always been to release the slide via the slide lock/release. Of course, the less you’re manipulating the firearm to put it into battery, the faster you can re-engage the threat or target. So, just force of habit and old habits die hard, I never gave it a thought. Oh well, that’s why I love doing what I do because there’s always something new to learn. Yes Sir. You can have an aftermarket trigger installed to fix that problem and an armorer or gunsmith may be able to adjust it some. Usually, triggers get replaced by a quality aftermarket though. I hope this helps you out. Stay safe and God Bless you and yours.
So far, I’ve always had great luck with all of their ammo and I’ve used well over 10k rounds of various fmj range ammo. I can’t say a whole lot about their REMAN ammo because I’ve only used around 500 rounds of 9mm. I never had an issue with it. I just haven’t used very much. Their new ammo has always performed great. Yes Sir! I don’t think I’ve fired any steel case pistol Ammo in probably 20 years or so. I just never really cared for it in anything other then the AK’s or SKS’s. I don't use the release, if you bump your magazine when loading it'll load forward quickening the fire time

Take a file and lightly hit where the slide stop “catches”. I have a sec9 compact pro and it was the same when I got it. Could hardly drop slide by pressing slide stop. Couple licks with a file and easy as it should be now

@@TheDogPoundwithM-Dog I’ll be following your page! Didn’t take much at all on mine for it to drop as expected. Very reliable pistol! Mine is the pro model without a safety and good night sights! Love the sights but want the safety now. Been a Ruger fan all my life after my Dad bought me a 10/22 when I was bout 10-11. 50 now so I’m partial but can’t beat Ruger service if you did have a problem. Never needed it so far

Yes Sir. I now know that’s what their plan is and I guess they know best. I made a mistake and I treated it like most other semi-automatic handguns that I have fired and I didn’t even consider that it was designed with that intention. All of the training that I’ve ever received, especially any tactical reloads, has always been to release the slide via the slide lock/release. Of course, the less you’re manipulating the firearm to put it into battery, the faster you can re-engage the threat or target. So, just force of habit and old habits die hard, I never gave it a thought. Oh well, that’s why I love doing what I do because there’s always something new to learn. I have one I don't like the trigger it's too hard to pull can it be lightend up by a gun smith
Yes Sir. You can have an aftermarket trigger installed to fix that problem and an armorer or gunsmith may be able to adjust it some. Usually, triggers get replaced by a quality aftermarket though. I hope this helps you out. Stay safe and God Bless you and yours.

LAX Ammo....that says a lot.
So far, I’ve always had great luck with all of their ammo and I’ve used well over 10k rounds of various fmj range ammo. I can’t say a whole lot about their REMAN ammo because I’ve only used around 500 rounds of 9mm. I never had an issue with it. I just haven’t used very much. Their new ammo has always performed great. I've never shot such inaccurate pistol. It's horrible. My Dagger is the same size, weight and shoots circles around it.

Stay away from steel casings
Yes Sir! I don’t think I’ve fired any steel case pistol Ammo in probably 20 years or so. I just never really cared for it in anything other then the AK’s or SKS’s.
