Thank you! I almost can't wait until it cooler and can wear the hat on a regular basis! I'll have to try to film a kitten clip for the next video. They have grown so much!
The kittens are so cute, they were lucky to find good homes. You certainly got a good haul at the Retreat. Lucky you ! Love the Ink Circles chart ! Also lovely that you share your Grandmother's work as well. Beautiful !
There was so much to choose from at the retreat, whatever was unclaimed ended up getting donated, so at least nothing went to waste. I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing my grandmas work, I need to find a nice place in my house to display it year round. :-)
That knotted white grape is Romanian Point Lace (Romanian macrame) , according the book I have. They say it requires Irish crochet lace techniques, needlepoint, Battenberg Lace technique, and so many labor. I'm sure your grandmom was a great artist. :))
Thank you!!!! I'll have to look into Romanian Point Lace! It's sounds very labor intensive with all those techniques, but it creates some very unique pieces! i never would have found out without you! :-)
Awwww cute kittens, good on you for saving them! Love your taste in charts, you've got a good variety :). My favorite on your haul is the Queen of Hearts pattern, so cute. Happy stitching!
Thanks. I tend to get bored stitching similar charts so I do like to have a variety between cross stitch, specialty stitches, DMC and Specialty floss. The queen of hearts stitches up fantastic, so I can't wait to start it, just need to free up a spot for it!
Kittens! I don't know that I could have resisted either. I don't think you need to be so nervous about the Hungarian embroidery. You made the Victoria's Sampler bee and that looks much more complicated than the embroidery. That owl is too cute, and I would have bought it just for the acorn cap too!
Lol! I thought I did pretty good by keeping only 2, It was really hard not to wanting to keep all of them. Thanks for the confidence in the embroidery, I think I'm just nervous because it's something new. I'm sure once I start it it will all come together :-)
I am so glad that I found you. I am going to have to go back and binge watch your videos. I'm in Alberta too, Calgary actually. And it's so nice to see someone on flosstube from here! Loved all the new charts and the projects that you are working on. And don't be intimidated by the Hungarian stitching. I can say that because I have never tried it yet either....LOL. I have drawers and drawers full of Hungarian embroidered tablecloths and wall hangings and coasters that my aunt did for me. My parents are both from Hungary and then I even married a Hungarian. So I'm surrounded by them. Loved seeing your pieces. Those grapes are something that I have never seen before but they're gorgeous! As well as your poncho. So tell me...where was the stitching camp that you went too? Sounds great!
Hi Barbi J, Thanks for watching! It always nice to meet another Canadian through Flosstube, it's even better when they are close! Are you on Instagram? I would love to see the pieces that you have! The stitching retreat that I go to is put on by the frame corner here in Edmonton facebook.com/groups/757746957585573/ and it takes place in Alix, Alberta. There is another one happening in September I think, It would be wonderful if you were able to make it! :-)
What a lovely update, Jen! Nice to see you again :) How awesome that your mother's side of the family is Hungarian. We recently visited Hungary for the first time and I defo want to to back. Such a beautiful country. That red and black piece that looks like satin stitches... Might that be Kogin Embroidery? I remember seeing something like that on Instagram recently.
I would love to go to Hungary, I would be a bit worried about the Language barrier. I remember several times family coming to visit us and I always needed a translator. If I decided to go, I'd be all on my own :-O It very well could be Kogin Embroidery, I've never heard of it before so thank you :-) That piece does look just like satin stitches
I love the plum street sampler patterns you bought, just gorgeous! You may have enabled me. Your wips are looking great, and how cute is that little owl! I have stitched an RTO owl too called 'dream' she's super cute! Your GrandMothers work is beautiful, something to always treasure. I have a table cloth that my nana started stitching too that I must show on one of my videos. I love your kitten story, I'm a dog person but those kittens are adorable x
There were 3 other Plum street bunny patterns that would have gone perfectly with the ones I bought, I was trying to be good.... ;-) The RTO owls are super cute, I could collect them all, How were the threads with the one you stitched? I would love to see your Nana's table cloth! It's so interesting to see what previous generations have created. :-)
miskacat1 I have a bit of a thing for bunnies🐰 I adore Easter time because I get to pull out all my bunny statues and decorations. I think I might have to buy some of the patterns....wish I had more time to stitch!! 😀 I found the thread in my dream owl kit fine to stitch with. I also used the aida in my kit too. I have shown her in my last video if you wanted to see her x
Anitchtocrossstitch it's funny you say you have a thing for bunnies! The owner of my LNS dies as well and will devote a whole rack of charts to bunnies. She had stitched the 3 patterns I bought and 3 others to make a seasonal, Halloween and Christmas cube! She altered the charts to make it all fit, but it was really well done! I'm definitely going to watch your latest video, I can't wait to see your projects!
miskacat1 How funny! I would love to see your local LNS for that reason. The cube sounds so sweet! The rack of bunny cross stitch kits would be dangerous for me though 😁 probably a good thing I don't live close. It's unfortunate we don't have any LNS anymore, they keep closing down. There is nothing better than going into a shop and seeing all the beautiful stitched pieces and being able to touch the threads and fabric...I hope you enjoy my video x
miskacat1 I also love the babushka's blossoms piece as my background is half polish (my mums side) and it reminds me of my Nana out in her garden. I think I will have to source it from the US x
Hello! I think that is called 'poentles' in English. It is called 'zsinór horgolt terítő' in Hungarian. My grandmother used to make these. Amazing video btw. Greetings from Transilvania! Üdvözlet Erdélyből!
Thank you! I remember lots of different types and styles of embroidery, doilies etc. being in my grandmas house. It's hard to know and keep up with all the different techniques and styles out there! :-)
OMG!!! Love the kitties!!! and that hat..... cute as can be!!! your stitching is gorgeous! Mr. Nutley is adorable.
Thank you! I almost can't wait until it cooler and can wear the hat on a regular basis! I'll have to try to film a kitten clip for the next video. They have grown so much!
My grandfather's family was Hungarian, and I've always loved that style of embroidery. Thank you so much for sharing that too!
Your very welcome, I'm glad to have found a wonderful group of people that can appreciate it as well

Thanks Orietta, the Just Nan was a really nice change to stitch, and super quick as well. I think next time I'll try one of the mice!
happy to see your videos again ... the new cats so cute 😻 and your finish and your family old pieces so pretty 😩🌸🍃🌹
I'm glad to be back into my stitching routine again, hopefully that will lead to more consistent videos in the future :-)
miskacat1 wish you a good luck ... love from istanbul 😘💕
