    Hello, Driver. Glad to see you've taken the time to drop around to catch today's video. What are your thoughts about this sensitive topic? Do you think the regs are too strict for drug testing? Love to hear from you.

    If you can drink on your time off, you should be able to smoke weed on your time off too. A blood test will tell if your high after an accident.

    I don't do drugs but the marijuana thing is a weird one. It stays in your system for a really long time so even if you only use it responsibly, you still get screwed.

    I drove for 10 yrs while smoking weed until the loophole that let me get away with it was changed. Anyways had no accidents, tickets, running rebar loads to downtown Chicago high rise construction sites. Cell phones are more dangerous then weed after work. These new drivers churned out by these cdl trucker puppy mills like cr England are more dangerous then weed after work…

    I don't smoke weed but I do Wana stop being a trucker because the Fed Wana put restrictions on me like I'm an employee of the state with non of the benefits. For what feels like a job that sees me as a dispensable fall guy.

    How many guys out there as soon as they’re done with their shift grab a 6 pack and go drink it back to the truck. How’s that any better than smoking weed in your off time?

    • @Joe_Hunt_Music
      @Joe_Hunt_Music ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I completely agree. Alcohol leaves the human body much quicker that weed but to me that doesn’t matter. I’m not a drinker, but you can bet your sweet ass I’d smoke a joint on the weekends if I didn’t have to worry about being tested. That’s not gonna happen until they come up with some kind of test that tells exactly when that joint was smoked. Highly unlikely that’ll ever be possible

    • @letd1995
      @letd1995 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Joe_Hunt_Music exactly and let alone if it’s a hair test. It stays in your body up to 6 months.. it’s insane. Not to mention with alcohol you can end up hungover the next day. These are silly laws, I think we’re old enough to make our own judgement as to what we should or shouldn’t do on the road.

    Sorry that I missed the live stream, when was it? I didn’t get the notification for some reason. Anyway, I agree with you guys. It’s 30 days in your system for marijuana and less for some more potent drugs like cocaine, etc. I take my truck driving career VERY seriously. I don’t watch videos while driving down the road or text or scroll on my phone either. My phone is NEVER in my hand while driving, it STAYS in the mount until I’m stopped. I don’t smoke or take illegal drugs of any kind and I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol in over 10 years. Who needs the additional stress of that impending random drug test that you KNOW is coming sooner or later? I walk in and out with confidence knowing that I will easily pass with no issues. I have WAY TOO MUCH to lose to risk it all over a night of partying, it’s just not worth it.

      Your right, people could lose their lives these days if they try what they think is cocaine or heroine or what looks like an real prescription pain pill, because it's all fake most of it is made mostly out of that deadly fentanly now one try kills it's been killing alot of young and old people right now, I seen on an video where 4 people tried what they thought was cocaine and it killed all 4 of them at the same time after they tried it, that cocaine and heroine and them street pain pills are just about extinct it's mostly all fentanly now from what I been seeing on videos and that animal tranquilizer is making it around too, even the meth is mixed with it, they make that fentanly look just like cocaine and real prescription pills and make them look like them other drugs, that fentanly and animal tranquilizer is so plentiful that there's so much of it everywhere that it's like air water from what I see on them videos somehow them dealers have easier excess to it they say it's easier to make and cheaper to get, that animal tranquilizer that is mixed with it is making arms and legs rott off when they shoot up with it. Them addicts that try street drugs are brave I would be too scared to try any of it, I hope no addict picks up what they find on the ground that looks like an real prescription pain pill even with all of the right numbers on it identifying it as an prescription pain pill because it could be an fake one made out of that deadly fentanly they say just one pill kills if it's fentanly.

    There are a lot of things that are mind altering.
    I find silly that a truck driver can get hammered with alcohol during his weekend off but the same driver can’t smoke a joint.
    The ones who will throw some “facts” about how this is different don’t have the knowledge about it.
    Alcohol leaves you hangover the next day and marihuana doesn’t. Marihuana is not the horrible and addictive substance portrayed.
    Personal responsibility is paramount and many truckers are in such a bad physical shape and have poor reflexes to even be driving IMO

    • @johnnymexico4751
      @johnnymexico4751 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marijuana is a will killer, I’m surprised mega carriers aren’t supporting it. They’d retain more drivers as they’d be too unmotivated to even leave.

    What gets me is that the law and the industry wants to have all these criterias and expectations that they want you to meet but a lot of truck driving jobs seem to want to pay you a low salary or hourly rate. There is not a driver shortage, there is just a shortage of drivers that want to jump through all of these hoops for crap pay. I which most places were willing to pay drivers more. I can handle the inconveniences just not the disrespect of low pay.

    If you can't drive properly while you are also a weed smoker, then you shouldn't be driving at all, or smoking at all. I've smoked weed for more than 27 years, and been driving trucks as well, and it's never caused any problem with my driving whatsoever. The only driver that's going to be a problem is one who never smokes, and then smokes and drives. If your system is used to it, it doesn't affect your driving in any way, shape or form.

  • @SunnyIlha
    @SunnyIlha ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can't be high driving.
    Just as you can't be drunk driving.
    You can be still drunk the next morning when getting into the saddle behind the wheel when turning the ignition key.
    Just as you can still be high.
    Recipe for disaster, sooner or later.
    Just like Big Uncle says here:
    You can't have your mind altered in one single way.
    You can't bring it to the Road.

    I was a driver for 10 years
    I also smoked weed on my weekends off (Not a lot). It sadly stays in your system for a couple months. I have a very clean driving record except when I got a random test and was positive. However even I told this company the truth that it might be positive they still kept me out driving for a week cause I was flawless in driving. They told me it was positive 8 days later. It was a great run but driving isn’t worth it anymore. CDL driving jobs use to pay soooo well. The law is the law so I can’t complain. I smoked just a little to relieve stress from the job. I never brought it on board with the truck

    I drove commercially for about 7 years. For a gas patch outfit. They did hair follicle testing of their own. Regardless of the DOT regulations. Never had an issue with that. My issues were with the equipment and inter-company politics. So I went out on my own. But I remain drug free. As a lifestyle choice. Not because of my class A CDL.

      It is legal to drink in pretty much any jurisdiction in NA yet, you can not drink and drive. As a Canadian cross-border hauler I pay about $35 a month to be in the mandatory Clearinghouse program and another $140 each time I’m tested. 3 times in 2021 and 1 time in 2022. Pee testing is fine, hair follicle testing can date back much further. As a driver who is completely sober from drugs alcohol and even smoking, i think it's idiotic to implement follicle testing and even more idiotic to remove drivers for using marijuana. The only reason it's still illegal is because they don't have an accurate way to measure HOW impaired you are and how long ago you were impaired.
      Funny enough being totally sober, i can take a huge drag from a cigarette and the rush would likely make me pass out. But if I were to get tested, nothing would be amiss.

    I believe a truck driver should be allowed to use marijuana when they are off duty and obviously should not drive under the influence of any substance that impairs their driving . Marijuana can be detected in the body for up to a month or maybe a bit longer than that after using it, so people can be fired for using a legal drug and they used it on their day off 4 weeks ago. Harder drugs like cocaine, meth, heroin can only be detected with a drug test for 3-5 days so it would be much easier for a driver to use those drugs undetected. Usually careers that require a drug test only test new employees and they never get tested again unless they screw up by causing damage or missing work.

    Never heard of alcohol staying with you for 24 hours either. 24 hours. Isn't that such a convenient number of hours? Not 13, or 5, or 31.6, but an even, convenient, 24 hours. Sounds unlikely, and contradictory to everything I've ever heard about how alcohol is processed thru your system, and the time that process takes.

    I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your thoughts on this. I am completely drug free, that even includes caffine.
    But I have to say that I don't think anyone is arguing in favor of drivers actually driving stoned or drunk - inebriated in any way.
    But the reality is that many people use marijuana as a sleep aid.
    I have only ever put THC in my body a single time in my life, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that one time I used it was the first time ever since my early childhood, that I was able to sleep for 9 hours straight completely uninterrupted, and I woke up feeling like an absolute GOD. I was about ready to do backflips out of my bed!
    Yes there are very small trace amounts of THC in your body that take awhile to fully leave your body, but the actual cognitive effects it has only lasts hours. That's why the way they enforce these rules are so stressful.
    Considering the fact that the negative effects of marijuana (such as reaction time) only last hours, yet guys can have their entire livelihood taken away from them because one night 3 weeks ago they took a single hit of a joint to sleep better. These policies are VERY outdated.

    I do feel like you should be able to have a toke on your reset. If it's at home, (not in the truck/sleeper on your 10). But I understand there's no way to differentiate. There in lies the issue. If you find you a carrier that can look out for you and give you some heads up b4 you need to test you'd be in luck. But again VERY ILLEGAL.

    Of course I can’t write or reply without a ridiculous story of mine, so here goes: back when I was driving over the road for the Korean mafia, I had to go for a drug crash test. And it turned out to be a hair test. Well I don’t have a whole Lotta hair to begin with, and they almost didn’t do the test at all. But I haven’t shaved my face for two weeks, so I went in the bathroom and had to dry shave the entire side of my cheek to get enough hair to fill a tube that is about the size of a cigarette. May be a little less. And that is how it goes with her testing. So my mileage they do not actually yank her out of your head, or elsewhere!

    I can appreciate the black and white viewpoint but it really isn't B&W when you get down to the reality of what effects are felt or not felt. I mean yeah, ppl say they can drive fine on pot but I believe due to the negative effect on depth perception, it's absolutely horrible to be on the road driving with, wether it's a personal or commercial vehicle. Hell, personally I'd feel better with people being half drunk than half baked but maybe thats because I couldn't drive my motorcycle home after staying at a friend's for a few hours one night. My house was about 1 mile worth of riding distance away. Yet one night on my way home from "bike night" and I was hot roddin the throttle and came across construction equipment in the middle of a gravel road, to warn you of exposed manhole covers sticking up. Long story short, I hit and knocked over 2 sawhorses and kept the bike up after coming to an almost dead stop. Crazy part is that I road another 12 miles home of highway and urban roads just to pull in the garage and see my front tire had been destroyed and the rim completely dented. I road a totally flat front tire all the way home totally fine without doing wheelies. And that's my point, im sure most ppl argue the opposite of that but I think it's based more on each individual and I think it's a travesty to have so many tests to exclude rather than include. But I digress. Why put this video up at this point when clearing House has been going for a while. What is changing? Just pot?

    Well you know what the American public has a choice one or the other and no you can't drive a car like that either its a dwi same as a dui and from what i read the hair test is not dot regulated and companies do hair test for insurance purposes and the pee test is more accurate than hair blood and skin test is more accurate than pee but let's be clear again people need to pick one or the other I agree with you dave this needs to stop it's getting worse and worse and the young people are following the crowd not taking responsibility for their actions and the parents are to blame as well for not punishing them early in life when they do stuff like this its a big shame im grateful i have a strong family not everyone is so lucky I understand that they need help if the police and politicians see this going on get them help instead of locking them up and taking there job /life away

    No problem, Dave, is that marijuana stays in your system because it is oil based, whereas cocaine and opium and math, I rinsed out of your system in just a couple of days; maybe a week at the most of your truly Anna gonzo bench. I don’t know anything about how fentanyl can be tracked.

    It is okay for people to use things in their private time, but when that might harm someone else, then it is not okay.
    All drivers had plenty of notice that these laws were going to take place. Responsibility for themselves and for others is important. You, whoever you are, may not use minimal marijuana, how many other drivers would not be responsible enough to use minimum amounts?
    The other thing I would mention is drivers who are under an influence and have a crash, just try to think about how their life will change forever. Ask yourself, this, how do you think you would feel if you killed someone?
    Lastly, if your family was in a four-wheeler, and some truck driver crashed into your family, and, they died, how do you think you would feel? Do you really want someone driving a multi-ton vehicle while under some amount of being under the influence?
    There is no place for drugs in the trucking industry!!!

    I don't see why wages would rise. There are millions of illegals in the u.s. who will work cheap. Some states are eager to hand out drivers licenses to illegals. Let's just give them cdl's. Just think of the boost this will give to the towing companies, equipment manufacturers, and funeral home industry.

    Answer this Dave : if you can go out for weeks at a time, and then on your home time you can get absolutely hammered, and that’s perfectly fine. Than why can’t I sit back and smoke a doob? Cause I’ll tell you right now Alcohol is way more potent and toxic then a little weed of weed on your hometime. I’ve seen so many truckers that actually have a drinking problem, and will sit there and bash weed on home time. Makes absolutely no sense. Alcohol is a drug and a hell of a lot scarier than some pot.

    Pay more for clean drivers???. Lmao
    Been in the oil industry for 30 years and have had drug testing the entire time with no uplift in pay.
    They just won’t pay for clean-people the same way as I also don’t get paid more as a non-smoker even though I work on average 10 minutes more per hour, than smokers.
    Short answer is what you do on your time is your business and it is a violation of your charter rights to test for 0 tolerance, testing for use on the job is fine.
