I test drove a Model S P100D back around 2017, and OMG I couldn't believe how quick and luxurious it was! I nearly bought one, was that close! The adaptive suspension, premium audio, amazing autopilot features really blew me away, as well as the blistering acceleration. It's what made me want a Tesla. On the outside your Model S still looks brand new!! I didn't even see any stone chips?? That's so great you've kept it in such good condition Tom, well done. I'd be very proud to own one!
This sets Tom on top of the pack in terms of being there for the long haul and walking the walk. Can you imagine if this review played on Aussie main stream networks. Brilliant real world info with zero smoke and mirrors. Great stats and can you also imagine the amount of emissions that were saved. Long the live the EV revolution. That's a thumbs up from me. 👍
I’m similarly in love with my 2014 Model S 85. It’s done more than 260,000Km and the battery has lost only about 11%. I’ll be keeping it for a while longer.
That is a fine looking ride Tom. Good work on keeping her so well. Just a note on the battery spec you mentioned of overall life of 1500 cycles. I am sure you are aware that figure is 1500 full depth cycles, which is something you would rarely do. As you know your actual life may run far longer if you mostly use shallow charge cycles. Great to see the sun again in your video as here in Brisbane we have forgotten what it looks like 😂
Thanks! Good point with the full depth cycles ... I'll have to check whether the cycle count in the Scan My Tesla platform are equivalent full cycles: surely it would be right? Otherwise the smallest charge would count as a cycle?
@@Damadchef Correct. I double checked with the SMT developer and yes the cycles are cumulative. However it’s calculated on the current nominal pack so it’s probably over reporting the cycle count given there’s 5-10% degradation …
What a fantastic video! And it’s still looking just as good! One test I’m waiting for is a battery degradation test after only using public superchargers. If we want more people to drive EV’s, we have to accept that many people don’t own their own home, and/or don’t have access to charge overnight at home. Supercharging I assume would degrade the battery faster than slowly charging overnight.
Great idea for a video. Anyone in Sydney with a legacy/classic Model S that has been mostly DC/Supercharged? Reach out to me and I can do a Scan My Tesla diagnostic
Looks beautiful , wish they still looked like that. I test drove a Model Y yesterday and the build quality was a bit off. Leaning onto the ExpengG 6 because of all the features. I want to see one or at least see your video when you get one.
Agreed, the 3/Y just don't quite cut it compared to the S. I'm waiting for my Xpeng G6 media loan ... but in the meantime here's my test drive with the rep/dealer: th-cam.com/video/0eBKNamBfnY/w-d-xo.html

It is so good to hear someone say, “I love sedans“. I have the new model three dual motor. I absolutely love it. Can you say how much you were asking for when you wanted to sell your model S? I love the original model S the interior upholstery is fantastic, luxurious compared to the new ones. The kilometre range is adequate even for long trips up the coast given the number of charges there are now.
6:45 have you looked around Sydney and checked how much it would cost to get the full interior detailing/cleanup done, professionally? they might be able to make it look like brand new visually
The end of warranty inspection showed the powertrain (including the motors) were in good condition and did not require replacement. All 4 brake pads measured 9mm and did not require replacement. Tyres have been changed a few times over the 9 years ... probably on average every 25000km
@@LudicrousFeed the tyre changed around 25000km? wow... racing much? burn so fast. I just driven my model Y over 50K km already the tyre seems only half worn which im so happy to see.
im looking to possibly get into an EV for the first time, my budget kinda wants to keep on the lower end, are second hand full ev worth a look and risk or do you think just save and get a new one? Ill need to take a loan either way so just the second hand would lower my repayments per fortnight obviously.
Well you've seen the battery "degradation" at 10% which is probably going to plateau (judging from other sources online) so I'd say used EVs are pretty good value at the moment
Irrelevant for me as I’m not selling lol. Depends to whom you’re selling - a reasonably educated person could use the degradation and cycle stats I showed later in the video to make an objective informed decision on the asking price
I much prefer the softer more feminine curved original MODEL S over the more aggressive refresh (sadly Zeekr seems to have done the same with the 001 now less elegance more aggressive on gen 2). 70D was really a test for MODEL 3 using improved battery efficiency. That Tan colour upholstery did not age well in terms of style. Your SEAL cockpit is closer to the old MODEL S than any current TESLA.
@@LudicrousFeed all cool, in future due to low roof probably have to have camera just under chin (using the frontal neck brace style camera holder device that some Aussie utubers/streamers use lately)
Well please surprise me, that's not even Telsa EV battery but an LG, Panasonic battery? I bet you it wouldn't last another 5 years and my older Honda will out last it. Lol read online that to get a new battery on this one it will cost you 20k to 30k .
It’s a Panasonic battery. Tesla currently uses CATL for its Model 3/Y cars produced in Shanghai for the Australian market. I suggest you watch from 13:39 where I discuss charge cycles. My car will easily last another 130000km+ See you at the 15 year review …. 🥂

This is incorrect it's cumulative ... For example if you charge 20% 5 times a week that's one cycle
