I vote for laundry room next - it’s such an important space in the home that you USE constantly. Bedroom can wait- it’s functional for now, and given the scale of work you want to do, you can knock out the laundry room quicker.
I always find that most interesting makeovers are for the functional spaces. You can do so many cool projects to increase the functionality of a laundry room. Built-in sorting baskets, area for detergents, wardrobe for duvet covers etc.
Just seeing how many unfinished spaces there are make me so excited to know that we have more MCM makeovers to look forward to as I am sure you are looking forward to putting your personal style into those spaces 😍🥰
I never realized how huge your house was! I didnt know there was an entire finished basement on top of 3 guest rooms! What an absolutely dream. I am obsessed with all the updates you've made since we last saw it. Cant wait for more!
I love how realistic this series is for someone buying a fixer upper or even for rentees. HGTV and other venues have gotten us so used to seeing spaces change drastically, all at once, but I like this soft change, collected approach SO much more.. it's more "human" level, and less waste. It annoys me when ppl make it seem like redesigning a room is like.. an afternoon, no mess kinda job! Just pick a color and if it doesn't work, "it's just paint!".. like O-KAY, Martha Stewart, but it's actually long and exhausting and it's less overwhelming when you can just... take your time. I like evolving, transitioning spaces anyways.
It is just not realistic for the average person to be able to COMPLETELY overhaul a whole house at all once. The slow metamorphosis is beautiful and gives room for you to grow and change as well :)
I find that living in a space for a while before getting new furniture or really changing much of anything is good, because you figure out which things work and which bother you and need to be changed. When you know how you like to live in the space, you'll be able to make choices that will be both pretty and functional. Making informed choices on the first time saves you money and effort, and it's better for the environment ☺️
I'm pretty sure that fireplace is just a cozy decoration and doesn't actually warm up the space. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It could still look cute but it won't fix the cold.
Laundry room next! Also, I think the small transition room would make a great library nook with secret storage behind it for all your marketplace finds.
Good idea to actually keep that storage space for furniture finds and other materials, but make it a nice hidden room. There certainly seems to be space for it!
Instead of rebuilding your little rice paper sliding door I personally would do a lightweight full length mirror with hinges so it swings open like a door and then you can do jewelry storage on the backside of it. I would just get a super cheap mirror and then make my own frame with nicer wood
That is a better idea than what I had. It would look more intentional too than the little window to nowhere, although I'd be scared to put jewelry on the back because it could fall off into that space and be difficult to retrieve.
@@DigsRetro Maybe if there was a shelf at the bottom of the mirror? Below the jewelry side of course, just in case? With a raised edge so nothing can slide done when you "open" the mirror.
With all the technology we have today you could make that room into a library and a media room. You have the skills to put those two things together and make it beautiful. I didn’t realize how huge your house actually was. I get an even better sense now seeing all the big pieces of furniture that you’ve like moved around and stuff. It’s really beautiful Becky it’s stunning.
The guest wing! I had forgotten about it! My vote is to make the pass through room a moody library and lean into not having a window with some cozy lamps!
I think it makes most sense for you to redo the laundry room first since it is something you use constantly but isn't a super big space to just "get over with" and be able to be more productive after. After that the transition room so that when you do the big bedroom overhaul and you have to walk through that more often you don't have to stare at the mess all the time!
It's so refreshing to see all of the "unfinished" spaces. Your home is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see the updates you do over time, but it's so nice to see how much of a process it is. Very easy to get discouraged when my home is a work in progress, always, so it's nice to see that yours is as well!
Thank you for giving us this honest glimpse of your home. It's so easy to look at social media and see nothing but polished, finished spaces, and it can be overwhelming if you're in a new space that is still being worked on. This is the reality of being in a space. It takes time to make over rooms. ❤
I love the teal chairs. They give that pop of color and it makes the house cohesive with the blue painted outside and the little lamp in the bedroom. Your house makeover is the most fun thing to watch. It's such a unique style.
Thank you for this realistic house tour! Finishing making over a full house takes time, especially when sourcing every thing second hand. It makes me feel better about my place as a work in progress. Love you guys!
So, Becky, for the windowless room I agree with the little library. You can make a DIY version of the bookcases you have on the top floor, add the electric fireplace and maybe the orange sofas or the day bed or some other comfy seating, then add cushions and blankets and Bob's your uncle. I'm pretty sure that if you shop around your house you can make this room like new with few dollars!
I love this tour because it shows a realistic timeline of redoing a house!!! You’ve taken so much time to do it carefully and in your style, and I think sometimes as viewers, we don’t understand how much time it takes to create a house that is magically exactly how you want it to look. I also am so into your style, and I’m so glad you’re leaning so heavily into it!!! More shag!!!
One of my favorite things is seeing you all rearrange your items and give them a new life. I love that the orange couch has been in multiple spots instead of just getting tossed and replaced, a good inspiration that just changing it up every now and then can really be a game changer, without having to purchase new items. Also my suggestion for the current storage room would definitely be media room. Take advantage of the lack of windows, plus it would be nice for guests to have a little private "living room" area separate than the main floor they can use. I would hate to have a library with no natural light for reading by, especially when you have so many other great spaces in the house that do have excellent lighting.
Look, I'm one of the reading nook fans for that windowless room and I maintain, that you could do the coolest thing ever with that space. It is screaming for a bookcase, hidden passage door. (Or make that the way into the basement.) Love the work y'all have put into it!
This video was so relatable for me. I have lived in my current home for 2.5 years now and we JUST recently (like last week) FINALLY furnished our front living room lol. We have so much to do, and have been getting stuff done little by little, but it's really a work in progress at all times lol. Love what you've done to your place so far, and really enjoy watching you put love into your home over time (like me!). 😊🥂
Im so glad that the orange place moved away from the living room 😂 the bookshelves and the planet lamps and the Togo chairs … my lord ! Is the comfiest coolest place ever ! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this tour! The house is so interesting (that circle window is awesome) and how nice to have so many guest rooms. I would like to see the laundry room reno next. It looks quite challenging so I’m excited to see what you do with it. I’m guessing Rochelle will be involved. 😉 But I’d also like to know Kelsey’s thoughts. Just want to say I’m so glad the orange couches are in the game room. They were a bit worn to be in your beautiful living room and the chairs you replaced them with are super cool.
Whenever you decide to redo your bedroom, I think doing a built in style closet wall by the daybed would be a great idea, since it seems your closet now is pretty small. Loving all the makeover videos! Glad there’s more to come.
I was thinking the same! I would make the walk in closet of my dreams, and maybe open up the bedroom a bit more by removing that extra closet next to the bed
First I want to say how much I love ❤ your retro home. I was raised in the 70's recognize so much😀 when I saw your storage room and then the electric fireplace in the guest room. I thought it would be nice for a book nook library with a cozy chair, the firplace, warm lighting and of coarse retro record player with of coarse vintage LP's from you know the 70's I can see it in my head. A cozy place just for you to wind down oh leave the cell phone in another room😁
Love the slower makeover approach. It really is realistic but also, I always think it’s wise to live in a house, all four seasons, to see how the light changes, what the difference in temperature does to the way you use the house, where you need storage … just how the house functions and to get to know what the house wants to be. We’ve all seen the big gut jobs and total overhauls that end up with renovations of renovations because they didn’t turn out to work that well in the end. I’d love to see the hall tile changed out to really highlight the mid century gloriousness that that new staircase now is, and I was thinking that your game room would be a great place to put your beloved mid century electric stove. Still love the coffee bar area so much. That tile is just GORGEOUS.
I think the idea to make the pass through space a media room is the perfect idea since it having no windows is actually a plus for that. If you are a reader, incorporating a multifunctional element would be amazing. Media/library room with wall to wall shelves, super comfy chairs/couch, lots of pillows, layered lighting, cool art! Love watching your makeovers because they are usually a bit different than the norm. Also the coffee bar is gorg!
Hello! I vote for the laundry room next because the bedroom is a spring/summer project, maybe. Also the library in that extar room sounds awesome. Chat soon 🫶✌️
Becky - I can't click fast enough when I see a video pop up w/a new home project you've got going in this wonderful, spacious house! You have done such a professional job & really upped the functionality of the spaces you have touched. And it's always wonderful to see your MCM inspired aesthetic on a space! I look forward to whatever you do next!! 💛💚🤎🧡
Becky, you have a great sense of design and style, and your home is beautiful. That being said, I turned 18 and graduated high school in 1975. I didn’t like the 1970s style then, and I still don’t like it now. Been there, done that. Thank you for sharing your home with us, it has a very inviting vibe. I look forward to future room makeovers. And Happy Holidays to everyone 🎉
In that extra room leading to the guest rooms it would be cute to create a kitschy retro ski lodge like lobby lounge space since it’s almost like your own little bed and breakfast down there with all those rooms.
I just looove the shelves you thrifted and the whole coffee bar! your house is so warm and cozy too! next I'd like to see the laundry room makeover since it will take time to make over the bedroom. maybe the laundry room would be a nice not-so-grand project to do!
I didn’t realize how huge this home is! If the spaces you’ve already made over are any indication, this home is going to be gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what you do. You’re so talented!!! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Been anticipating this video for a long time and you really delivered! What a beautiful place. So much hard work and deliberation has really paid off. Thanks for sharing it with the world! ❤
the storage room as a media room would be great for guests to have their own separate hang out space since that area leads directly to the guest bedrooms. maybe put a kitchenette in there for a little granny suite moment, who knows! i’m sure you’ll do something amazing with it given how beautiful the rest of the house is
You both have done an amazing job so far, do the laundry room, then tackle a big room once the weather improves. Have a very Merry Christmas and and a bright and Happy New Year to you both and Danny. Take care. Can't wait for more.
I love all the changes you made to really make it your happy place! The dining room looks so perfect now! Also when you asked what ideas we had for the laundry room, I thought of a happy, yellow space for some reason! Like fully primary yellow. You house is beautiful and cohesive, but I feel like that could be an opportunity to do something a little fun and unexpected. I've seen so many black, white, or neutral laundry rooms, but when you said it's not a space you like to spend time in, it made me think of how it could brighten up your day when you walk in there. I say go fun and bold and bright! 💛💛💛💛💛
I just want to say as beautiful as the finished spaces are, it makes me so happy to see the unfinished spaces and makes my living situation feel so much more normal. I just bought a house in June of this year and 6 months later, I've made some progress, but nothing is anywhere near where I want it to be. And I know it's going to take me at least a couple of years to get things where I want them due to time/budget constraints. It makes me feel so much better to see that that is just the reality of things and that I'm in a normal place and things will happen as they happen 😊
That little sliding closet window thingy would look great with some frosted acrylic. Maybe you could find a retro color like from an old florescent light cover that you could trim down. Or even small acrylic squares in different colors glued in from the back so you don't see the seams.
14:20 i stil think a fun art print would be great for the sliding door. You could back it with mdf. Make it just look like a frame. you could even put in a Plexiglas sheet to protect the print.
12:02 that table lamp would look perfect in your dining area!! Those colors would be perf w your map wall art & teal stools 😍 plus it would match the orange pendant light in the living room!
Just wanted to say long time subscriber here (10+ years) and yall always inspire and this house tour is everything I want and more !! originally I thought a home theater for that passage way room… but the way my mouth DROPPED when I saw the clips of the basement basement which I completely forgot about…. So new plan, home theater in the basement then library or conversation pit in the passage way room… so excited to see what you do to the rest of the house!!
Seeing how much you still have to makeover makes me feel SO MUCH LESS ANXIOUS about my own projects! My partner and I have to makeover our apartment, his mother's apartment and her villa + my parents villa. It's an Eastern European thing - almost everybody has a city apartment and a village house because our grandparents used to live in the villages, but then the economy and political landscape changed and life required you to live in a city (things are changing back actually, but that's such a huge topic). This makes makeovers so scary because it's just SO much! And there's little time to do it, esp if you have children XD LOVE YOU Becky, your house is so inspiring in the sense of it's a direct manifestation of who you and Austin are. No rend-following, no furniture that 'needs' to be there - only things you really love. Have the most wonderful holiday time and hugs form the other side of the globe!
Wow! Your house is so beautiful! You’ve done so many amazing things, but it’s wild how differently i would do things. You have so much space, and i feel like everything is crammed into the top floor. 1. where you have the shelves is pretty cluttered. I think those toga chairs would be great in another space in the house, like the game room, or the basement..or in the main tv area, and the black chair and the chair by the tree should go in the game room. Then, that area could either have a long dining room table. Play around with the top floor layout! 2. The game room is great!! But it should def be in your basement. That room off your first floor should be a library for those shelves in the main space, or a music room, for records and playing music, but yall gotta figure out the insulation.. so idk! 3. omg you have SO many roooms. Take a room for DIY art/ crafts, a room for a gym, take a room for other hobbies!! I know you have so many. Idk. You only need like 1 guest room imo. 4. In your bedroom, i think the sliding paper door that hides that other closet should just be a secret door, just art in a frame! 🖼️ Biggest thing, THIS WAS such an inspiring video. You made such beautiful spaces so far! I I’m sorry i had so many ideas, but you asked! Haha Hope to see a laundry makeover next!!
I agree, there is just SO much furniture in the main living space. The Togo chairs, the dining couch nook, the other couches, the stools at the kitchen island. Honestly I think that should just be open space in front of the shelves, give the eye somewhere to rest. I think if there was a long dining table and more chairs it would continue feeling cluttered. Becky has such a beautiful, spacious house. I think it would be ok for her to just leave some space blank!
Thanks for showing us your space! I was feeling a bit unmotivated since our last moving (about a year ago), because of all the unpacked stuff and unfinished rooms. This home tour has showed me that its ok (and normal!) to take it one step at a time and that turning a house into a home is a constant work in progress ✨
All of the lighting is so beautiful!!! You have definitely nailed MCM and retro style - everything is put together so well!! I would loveeeeee to see more content of the other rooms!
Your house already has multiple great reading spots, so out of those two ideas, I would say a media room sounds amazing! Create that super cozy vibe with the feeling of being in a private theater, that would be so cool, especially in the Mid Century style (if you went that route of course). A small fitness area also seems like a great idea if that is something that will serve you both. I am very excited at all the rooms left to make over, I cannot wait to see what you create and how it all comes together.
Laundry room makeover first! I'm so excited to see the big changes you would make! For the transition room, I really like the idea of it being a library with the electric fireplace. I think if you could add a window, it would look super cozy! But it looks like it might be a tight fit for more than 2 people. Some other ideas include: (1) walk in closet with a makeup vanity. (2) an office space (3) If you could take down the wall between transition room and guest bedroom: you could make it into a giant bedroom. Or MY FAV IDEA: if you don't need that many bedrooms, you could make it into a giant media + library room so more people can hang out in the space at once. AND you can add another coffee, wine, snack bar so you don't have to climb upstairs to get any food and drinks. (4) And you can move the gym equipment and build a giant gym in the basement!
It’s so satisfying to have watched all of these previous makeovers and seeing them all together like this! Can’t wait to watch the rest :D edit after watching to the end: suggestion for the windowless room- cinema room?! And I think you should start with the laundry room :)
Love seeing how the house has turned out so far! It's so clear that you've put so much time, care, and parts of your personality into the space! I feel like for the bonus pass through room you should just put up a wall to divide the space into a hallway and a room and then just use it as a permanent storage area, might be nice to have!
So much work you've done to the house! Definitely your style! Would recommend painting the plywood behind your dart board the same colour as your wall.
I cannot wait for a lot more make overs in this house. I don’t really mind which one will be the first you’ll do next year, any one will satisfy my excitement. Beautiful home by the way.
The pass through room should totally be a library/music room! The piano, a record player, dark and moody 70s look. If the daybed could fit in there too that would be cool!
I’m obsessed!! I’d love to see that laundry room make over next!! Also that pass through space I think would be perfect for a reading nook or music room with like cool vinyls and a record player and Austin’s guitars on the wall. Amazing job so far!!
That little pass through room should definitely become a home theatre! It has no windows which makes it perfect for a screening space. I can't wait to see what's coming.
All of the not done spaces make me feel sooo much better! I have such a strong feeling of the whole house needing to be fixed up and styled ASAP and it's stressful!
Loved this! The electric fire place that lives in the guest bedroom could totally go into the game room since you were saying it gets really cold! Also, really looking forward to the bedroom make over!
It is so reassuring to see the WIP spaces after owning a place for a few years. My house has so many spaces that are still undone but also so many that HAVE been completed. I love see the spaces evolve as you realize what is working and what is not working and if you did it all at once there would probably be more regrets when you realized some things just didn't work.
That pass through space would be a dreamy library. Get a cozy chair, floor to ceiling bookshelves, and that gorgeous electric fireplace. Use your basement for tbd project decor and furniture.
I liked the orange couches in the conversation pit area because they faced each other as opposed to being open to the island stools. Also if you redo the backsplash in the kitchen, my vote is for sourcing the same red tiles as the coffee bar. Love how yours and Austin’s home is a livable museum of great pieces
I vote for laundry room next - it’s such an important space in the home that you USE constantly. Bedroom can wait- it’s functional for now, and given the scale of work you want to do, you can knock out the laundry room quicker.

Your house is huge!
I love your style and seeing you make things fit your aesthetic.
I just looove the shelves you thrifted and the whole coffee bar! your house is so warm and cozy too! next I'd like to see the laundry room makeover since it will take time to make over the bedroom. maybe the laundry room would be a nice not-so-grand project to do!
The pass through room would be a cool place to put a moody speakeasy!
Love that 70's home ❤❤❤❤
This is my dream house!!
This is BY FAR my favorite series on your channel and I can’t waaait to see more of the rooms come to life!
the storage room as a media room would be great for guests to have their own separate hang out space since that area leads directly to the guest bedrooms. maybe put a kitchenette in there for a little granny suite moment, who knows! i’m sure you’ll do something amazing with it given how beautiful the rest of the house is
You both have done an amazing job so far, do the laundry room, then tackle a big room once the weather improves. Have a very Merry Christmas and and a bright and Happy New Year to you both and Danny. Take care. Can't wait for more.
I seriously love her space! Feels super authentic to who she is and what she likes!!!
Wow Becky! Y’all’s house is huge! You are doing a amazing job,and look forward to your other make-overs.😀
Loved this video 🥰 the finished spaces are amazing but also appreciated seeing the unfinished spaces. Makes DIY feel approachable and fun and doable❤
So glad you loved it! ❤️ DIY happens slowly and at your own pace
Wow, I had no idea the house was so big. It looks great! I love your mid century style. Can't wait for the future updates!
Every rooms you've changed looks like a dream, can't wait to see the rest of makeovers
team library!!! that would be an amazing use for that space. complete with cozy warm lighting and a tea corner omg
I love that this house and other midcentury homes in magazines feel so lived in and cosy ❤. It really feels like a home rather than a styled space.
And there's little time to do it, esp if you have children XD
LOVE YOU Becky, your house is so inspiring in the sense of it's a direct manifestation of who you and Austin are. No rend-following, no furniture that 'needs' to be there - only things you really love. Have the most wonderful holiday time and hugs form the other side of the globe!
The laundry room makeover is going to be so satisfying; I can't wait.
Biggest thing, THIS WAS such an inspiring video.
You’ve done an incredible job. So much work has gone into this and your design style is brave, bold and cheerful.
Dream home. Becky needs to be in an AD episode!!
I have been a fan for years. I would tackle the laundry room next. You need a break after Christmas. The Sorry Girls are all so talented!
So cool to see all the changes ! Love the new conversation pitt 😊
You are so fun to watch and I love your energy and vibe!
Aw, that means so much, thank you! 🤩
That little pass through room should definitely become a home theatre! It has no windows which makes it perfect for a screening space. I can't wait to see what's coming.
That middle room/storage room would be such an awesome speak-easy vibe. Record player, instruments, some reading and even a little bar set up.
What a lovely home! I like all of your touches. I think you should bring the coffee nook tile over into the kitchen. It has a nice earthy modern vibe.
Omg I’m so excited for the bedroom makeover 🎉
Becky! It’s so beautiful and so you and Austin and Danny. I’m glad you have a warm comfy and sassy home!
Wow this house was built in a really cool way. So many awesome spaces.
Congratulations such a beautifully home. I love the 70s also the fashion, the music, the dancing! 😂❤
Edit: Hi Rochelle.
Laundry please, then walkthrough space & finally the spare bedrooms, or possibly a music room. Whatever you do, I’m here for it! ✊🏾
The walk through room would be a fun library, gaming area with the electric fireplace imo ❤ look forward to move amazing makeovers
The coffee bar nook is one of my favorite makeovers of all time.
Wow! I didn't realize how big your house really is until this tour. You have done amazing work on it. Look forward to seeing more stuff done. 💝
Definitely the laundry room next!
That pass through space would be a dreamy library. Get a cozy chair, floor to ceiling bookshelves, and that gorgeous electric fireplace. Use your basement for tbd project decor and furniture.
You are looking amazing!
Your home is beautiful! Merry Christmas!
So much great content coming our way with this house 😁. You’re doing a fantastic job Becky!
As someone who lives in a studio this is an insane amount of space.
Put the electric fireplace in the bonus room space with a library, lounge space vibe! That would be so cool and cozy. Love your house!
Hi Becky, what a beautiful house! Thanks for the tour! sending Best Wishes for the New Year!
Your house is amazing! You’ve already done so much, but I’m glad that there’s still more to do because I love seeing you work on your spaces.
I liked the orange couches in the conversation pit area because they faced each other as opposed to being open to the island stools. Also if you redo the backsplash in the kitchen, my vote is for sourcing the same red tiles as the coffee bar. Love how yours and Austin’s home is a livable museum of great pieces
