    *This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*

    I've echoed your comments about buying a trolling motor with a GPS in it many times. It's the best money I've ever spent to improve my fishing success. I appreciate the informative videos you produce, keep em coming. Hope to fish with you this season, fair seas and tight lines!

      yes i still have it. FUnny you should ask. Literally just a few hours ago I had my first hiccup. remote isn't working. Touch screen wont work and when i use the manual keys they're just jumping all over. I'll call them in the next few days and see what the issue is.

    Do you need a specific kind or brand of fish finder/ GPS for spot lock to work? Can it work if you did not have a fish finder / GPS unit ? Or if your unit was off?

    • @reaperfishingnj8623
      @reaperfishingnj8623  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spot lock does not need a specific FF/GPS. As far as I know though it only links to Humminbird products. And that enables I pilot Link it's called. This allows you to map out contours, map out drift, save waypoints to use trolling motor to go between. So many nuances that I haven't even taken advantage of. I think for the freshwater guy the sky is the limit. I really just use spot lock and spot lock/jog, autopilot, and just manual.

    So this was an all around great video! But I need some more info on the trolling motor. Who installed it? I need one for my center console but I want some professional advice. I have seen them on larger center consoles with a lower bow flare so I think I am good but just not certain.

    • @reaperfishingnj8623
      @reaperfishingnj8623  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The specs on the trolling motor are in the description. I installed it myself. It was actually pretty easy. Only hard part was running all the cables. In retrospect I wish I had gotten the 72" shaft. Although I fished again today and it was kinda snotty....prop never really came out of the water. From what I recall Rhodan makes one with an even longer shaft. I fished on a 25 Sportsman in Florida and he had the longer one. Thanks for watching!!!

    Nice video as always Chris! I was on the fence about getting the Minn Kota trolling motor for my 22’ Grady....I’d seen video of it in freshwater but I may actually pull the trigger after seeing how it performed in the saltwater. In your opinion, do you think that with a full Bimini, the spot lock would hold a 22’ Grady White over a wreck??? Obviously with somewhat calm conditions...let me know what you think. Thanks man. Keep up the great work.

    When you start snagging tog in the chins its telling you that they are laying on your bait so another one won't take it from them. Freaking weird fish in the way thet bite from day to day. Great video.

    that rig was weird, its like a porgy rig,and why did you mount the trolling motor so rar away from the centerline

    • @reaperfishingnj8623
      @reaperfishingnj8623  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A. Thanks so much for watching!!
      B. That rig is how I was taught. I have since added a small leader to the dropper loop and started using a 2 hook slider rig as well. The 2 hook slider rig accounted for a 7 and 8 pounder this fall.
      C. That's the way theyre supposed to be mounted. Actually far off the centerline and overhanging off either side.

      @@reaperfishingnj8623 ok i allways made a droper loop for the sinkor,then tied a snelled hook with 12 inch leader 4 inch above the sinkor,i allways liked the bait below the sinkor, but thats real old school

    I own a Robalo Cayman 246. I have never taken it in the salt water but I'd like to. My question is, is that salt water super bad for my outboard? I heard the salt will kill my motor in a matter of three years if I keep using it in salt water. Maybe if I flush it out after every use, it'll last longer. I cannot afford to buy $30,000.00 engines every three years.

    • @hullhealersboatworksrestor4377
      @hullhealersboatworksrestor4377 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Engine will be fine in salt water. Just flush it with muffs after every use. The people telling you you get 3 years from a motor in saltwater have no clue what they’re talking about.

  • @jonnylightning6291
    @jonnylightning6291 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now that you have had this motor a while, what sort of issues have you had? I've been hearing issues with these.

    • @hullhealersboatworksrestor4377
      @hullhealersboatworksrestor4377 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only issue would be with self deploy. It’s know. To constantly be in the shop. although covered under warranty it’s a pain to have downtime all the time from trolling motor. Once you have a spot lock you will never fish without it again. Go with a terrova though instead of Ulterra.
