    Always great info Chris! folks that love to fish get "geeky" too! I'll second that Kid K is great to tap into as well! We all keep learning...

    Chris. The instructional part was fantastic. I have been wreck anchoring for tog out of MI for only 3 years and I feel your pain. I do a lot of solo fishing and it is challenging to get on that spot by yourself. I finally bit the bullet and will be putting a 36v 112# on my 1995 20' GW this spring when the wrap comes off. Keep up up the great videos and maybe ill see you out there if you ever venture that far North.

    That other wire that is cut on the trolling motor head is to hook up to a hummingbird unit to control the trolling motor

      Thanks. I actually remembered that just as I was publishing this video. I had a Humminbird on my last boat. But it was over 5 years since I installed it

    This was very helpful and informative Chris. I’m always fishing party boats and wondered why they would boast about West winds so much in NJ…all depends on how the wreck is sitting. Tight line 🎣

    Anchor ball is key on retrieving. Especially if you are hitting a few wrecks and need to haul up several times.

      That's why I have a Zac!!! Yea I use the anchor ball mostly when i'm 100 ft or deeper

    Great video. I have used an aluminum grapple for years. Last time I went out it was rough, and a tine actually busted off! I used to use a steel grapple, but it rusts constantly, and the tines wouldn't bend at all, so it got stuck and I lost it.

  • @andrewfedkiw2783
    @andrewfedkiw2783 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You gave me a good idea next time to try out for grappling I normally just tie it off at the bow even calm but those calm days I see your point of tying it off to the stern you get more vertical over the wreck never thought about doing it that way. As you mentioned I agree calm days only for that.
    You had me laughing earlier in the video when you said chalktalk haha love the vids

    Yo capt when using a single anchor and you are not sitting on the wreck perfectly or if you're swinging a little bit have you ever tried to Shear or Bridle your boat off to the mid cleat to the anchor line to push you back over to the wreck

    Even on a flat calm day it’s not easy to anchor perfect on top of the wreck. One way I was taught was to drop down a weight with a floating jug to help guide you to center . Even with the new electronics its never easy fighting Mother Nature 👍

    Yo capt love all the vids have you ever sheared or Bridle your boat over a wreck to help from swinging or to fish a different section of the wreck using the mid cleat to the anchor line

    What rod blank do you use for a rig rod

    • @reaperfishingnj8623
      @reaperfishingnj8623  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the Honey Lami blank. I had the rig rod custom built by JPR rods.

    The lost art of anchoring properly. It's all I use. I want a spot lock for inshore and back bay but I only anchor offshore. It's funny to watch dudes get mad in summer. Screw em all. I'm just wrapping up a simple kite rig that I use off Jersey and have been absolutely murdering it with

    • @reaperfishingnj8623
      @reaperfishingnj8623  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always say you have to know how to do both!!

    • @mulletoutdooradventures6286
      @mulletoutdooradventures6286 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reaperfishingnj8623 I haven't had any experience with the spot lock. I just can't see having enough battery with as much as that machine will have to work. I feel like anchoring is so much better for precise targeting offshore. I weld my own light rebar hooks. I get almost 0 scope after hooking. When I'm targeting triggers and tog I get barely any swing. I hate that they don't overlap any of the seasons anymore. Wreck fishing doesn't have the allure it used to. I will occasionally hook on a wreck when tuna fishing so I can catch bait to live line.
