Jacob Rees-Mogg schooled on basic operation of Parliament by his successor Penny Mordaunt

  • Jacob Rees-Mogg raised a point of order in the House of Commons on Tuesday expressing concern the government is "not respectful" to MPs by managing time in Parliament poorly.
Penny Mordaunt just so happened to be in the chamber at the time, and reminded the former Leader of the House that the Parliamentary timetable was agreed on by MPs back in May.

It's why we've had PM after PM... any serious prime minister whom wants to continue Brexit somehow simply won't want to do the impossible task. Apart from the ones that do not live in their constituencies, but shoehorned in from other areas. It should be mandatory for an MP to reside in the constituency they represent. Having not done any homework and thinking that such an obvious problem could exist until he points it out - he probably thought the current leader of the house would work exactly like him as this was his way of doing things. He even did this as a point of order, thus giving the other side plenty of time to prepare a pithy putdown. This is where supreme arrogance plus distain for actual work gets you.

There wasn’t any hint of filibustering, just pointing out that the bill needs more time for reading and debate. I’d sooner MP do there job properly, then rush though legislation that effects our lives.
I am also aware of the hypocrisy from him, after he backed proroguing parliament to get the Brexit deal through.

    PM: “You’ve had 4 months.”
What even is his point? Is he asking for more time? Is he requesting a change of policy that sets review periods in line with scope and scales of change?
