Some day you'll have stalkers too. Lol. I'd do the exact same thing. Seeing a boat like that in real life makes all the dreams more real and attainable.
Today, I am plaining down white oak from 1 inch down to 3/8th inch to use inside the deck of my sailboat. I bought divinycell to do this, but white oak has nine times the sheer strength, but also nine times the weight. So, going to use the white oak around the chain plates, mast and bow. Divinycell everywhere else. Working to fast though and the planer is getting too hot in less than an hour.
That’s a great idea to add strength to those areas! I will definitely consider it as I approach deck work, I was worried about the strength of Divinycell when it comes to deck coring. I like your strategy better.
buy low grade white oak from a mill, it will be under fiberglass so knots and such really will not matter. Then find someone with a jointer / planer and fit it down to deck depth. I used a bit of 6 inch wide planks. I am planning on running the edges through a set of canoe bits on the router. Maybe glue them together now or later into usable sections. @@projectseawolf
The Viking Eric has some stomach / intestine problem. What does your wife have to say about his onboard diet? I have similar issues and there are things I try not to eat, many foods. Watching his show, he eats sausage and drinks beer. Neither are on my list either, but his gut much worse than mine. A beer a day is good for the stomach I think. But sausage is a processed meat. Personally, I have been trying to eat a lot more fresh fruit or canned fruit. And I try not to drink sodas.
Ya it seems like he has quite the combination of problems on top of crones disease, the diet probably isn’t helping. I think his choice in boat model and strategy of overpowering that boat to the point of breakage is probably holding him back the most.

It was really cool! I do have random people show up at my boat though, but I love meeting them!
