    Your videos are amazing!! I started to search a lot from Norway since 2014, and i found your channel like 3 months ago, you offer a lot of information from Norway in your channel. You are right when you say to watch a lot of videos and movies to learn english, i do that i lot to learn new languages, but my favorite one is listening music and learn the lyrics...
    Learning Portuguese is difficult to me, because is similar to spanish (my language)but is a beautiful language.

      @@SRBOMBONICA86 hmm.. not everyone agrees on that. For instance; I was sharing apartment with a Turkish student here in Oslo.. he admitted that he was very proud of being Turkish, and he also said "It bothers me a bit".. so, in order to test him, I said "I am also very proud of being Norwegian" (NOT true, I am not PROUD, content is a more appropriate word). His immediate response: "Oh really?! what do you have to be proud of, you were under Danish rule for 450 years", and bla-bla etc.. LOL! In other words: HE is allowed to be proud, since he is coming from the grand Ottoman empire, which colonized a few countries for a "few" years, whereas I have no reason to feel proud. Needless to say, perhaps, that I am not a friend of this person. Such people, patronizing "Karen"- types, are immediately put in the "Persona non grata"-category. You treat me good and I treat you good, that is my philosophy.

    i understand the cultureshock at parties. hehe. i feel sad for u that u had that first experience. this experience will be true for a while, but when people are older it usually involves more dinnerparties/food served and shared wine. but when people are students it is so expensive to share food and beverage that people take care of themselves as people have very different salaries or standards. :p I hope you enjoy parties in norway more now.

    • @5haraith
      @5haraith 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on. Norwegian politics concerning alcohol is solely to blame for this 'culture', especially in the 'younger' generations. (I'm going on 50 and it's been like this since I was in high school at least, mind you..) We got something like a 60% tax on alcohol so for young people who might like to host more than one party a year, they will expect guests to bring their own beverages. Also if food is served it will most likely be said when inviting. On the other hand, I would definitely have let a foreign couple know what to expect when inviting as well, although I am unsure if I would have thought to do so when I was 18..

    • @niigu
      @niigu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zachsmyder385 It depends on what you do, really. Assuming you come and dont understand or speak the language well you would typically get a job in within the service industry, like restaurants, bars, cafés etc. Working within this sector you will recieve a minimum wage of 168kr/h which translates to roughly 19 dollars per hour. Plus you have the tip paid monthly (tips are taxed in Norway by a new law that was passed a couple of years ago).
      Working within storaging for bigger companies you will earn pretty well, too. In regular sales, like working in a clothing shop, you will earn less (maybe around 13-14 dollars per hour).
      The contracts are secure within all jobs - they state if you are full time, part time or "extra". Full- and part time comes with an agreement of hours you work.
      Regarding sickness you need to work for 3 months before you get paid sickleave. You have 15 individual sickdays you can use personally (often used for lighter fevers and minor issues) and you can also visit your doctor to get a longer sick leave if necessary.
