When this game runs smoothly it feels incredible to play, it may not uphold every promise from early development, but holy f this could still be a banger
I've been playing MMO's since they first existed, and I've helped test many games in Beta and a few in Alpha. Now, when I say I helped test them that means I got invited to test.....you couldn't pay to test back then. And believe me, there has been NOTHING this polished in an Alpha phase of development that I've ever experienced. There have been many games in Beta not this polished. There have been many games at release not this polished. There have been a few that made patches quick like this, but it's always a good thing to see. The one thing I think the Devs in this could do better is to have a much better way to let us know what they want us to test and focus the testers in doing specific things to push the game. Other than that, I think this is just amazing and once we get to the last phase of Alpha and are heading into Beta.....oh wow, that is going to be pretty special.
@@Navefreamo I'm guessing you are referring to my comment about focusing the testers on specific tasks? If so, then I do know they have a special server, but I'm specifically talking about the servers most of us are playing on. Nearly every other MMO in Alpha that I've helped on would put out world messages across our screens to do this or do that so they can test things. They would put out a gameplan for the day for us to do certain things, be specific places, etc. so they can focus test with large numbers. This just feels like a Beta where none of that happens. I simply want this game to be ready as soon as possible, with none of the usual delays that most games experience.
@@8654ZuluFoxtrot I see, that would be acctualy good I assume, but try to do those huge scale tests, it might be hard to do, and remember they already have a lot of work and a lot of pressure.
@@Navefreamo I'm fairly convinced they simply have a much better way of doing things than when I helped those other MMO's during testing. They are certainly on top of everything despite what I was expecting from them for interaction. I'm certainly not complaining about the job they are doing, because they are knocking it out of the park!
I'm really enjoying being able to play just on the weekend, so I can focus on work during the week. We could have a server with this uptime at launch. 😅
Same, get all my work, chores and studies done during the week so that I can go full degenerate friday to sunday.. although if they keep expanding through mondays I might run out of sickdays.. :P
hmm, I guess it was just me. I was having trouble unlocking class skills when I leveled up. I was able to commit points on weapon and stamina but the class ones had the commit selection greyed out. I have trouble knowing whats user error and whats an actual bug.
I had the buttons thing, but updated my mouse and instantly fixed so I didn't report. Hope it isn't a problem on AOC side. At least mine didn't seem to be
I didn't report this as a bug since I didn't think about it but when I was killing a corrupted player he ALT+F4 and was able to just leave which should not be in the full product
This is what happened in Lineage 2.. basically Ashes copied wholesale of the flawed pk/pvp system from Lineage 2. If Ashes is able to make changes to the flawed system then the system would work. This Alt+F4 trick is one of the flaws.
That is 100% a bug. It's not intended. They have said for years that they won't allow for player characters to de-spawn by logging out. Your character is supposed to stay for some time in the open world especially during combat to prevent such exploits.
They need to address griefing by others just getting proximity agro on mobs and then running around you dumping them onto you. Mobs shouldn't lose agro of the first person who agro'd them w/o someone else getting higher on their threat table by attacking the mob or healing to the person who agro'd.
More systems coming online does not equal less bugs on the contrary it adds more anyone who plays star Citizen will tell you this the more content that is added the more complicated the backend systems become bugged.
I'm the same way I don't play games in between Ashes server downtime and I get my work done during the week to play uninterrupted during the weekend. However when phase 2 and phase 3 starts when the servers are up 5+ days a week my productivity will go to shit. I'll be taking a week off during P3 to grind like a neckbeard and hopefully this will be enough time to get far enough to not worry about falling behind lol.
Is there going to be an area like Cyrodiil in ESO where everyone is flagged for PVP? I can see this flag off and on thing being a problem in some cases and you even mentioned it with the splash damage.
There is going to be lawless zones I believe that are automatic pvp flag zones. Which will be a big part of the gameplay loop, as it stands there is one lawless zone in the alpha on land. But I think Its supposed to be for when there is naval/ sea combat where there will be lawless waters.
Yes, they currently have lawless zones in alpha 2 where everyone is flagged. When the game goes live all of the open sea will be always on pvp, like hanzy said
i really have a lot of fun with this alpha, and my guild is offering a good community to chat about the state extensivly, even though we have a lot of fun, there is still a lot to be critizized ... 1. where is all the stuff shown in the showcases 2. why is this everything they got to show after 8 years of dev time 3. marketing ( wave key desaster) 4. not kept promises/not met expectations they set themselfs i could go on and on .... but most of the critizism of the state of the build comes from a "this is not a good game yet" and to judge a game based on what is in an alpha is laughable i aggree ... doesnt mean that there is no actual valid critizm, most just cant express what is actually the stuff that can be critizized ... obviously the hunting system is not ready ... but to critizise that is totally pointless .. they know it you know it ... most critizism is from captain obvious and is mostly balancing ... i aggree on that ... but to frame everybody as toxic hater that utters critizism is toxic positivity imo
A lot of people say that this is the worst the game will ever be but I hardly disagree with that. How many successful games have been ruined by adding content that nobody wanted or was so unbalanced that it made everything before it useless? Some MMOs are even designed around that and force you to grind every update, increasing engagement or a purchase of grind skip. Ashes won't have p2win or p2progress so at least there is that but they can still fuck up a couple content updates and kill the playerbase.
Sure and down the road they will 100% have bad updates. My thoughts are that these systems are what I was hoping for and I like them, which has me excited for the other systems I like coming online in p2 and p3 that I also like on paper.
Where do get the patch notes for myself? I'm a very small content creator (I started streaming AoC 2 weeks ago) and applied for the AoC content creator program 2 weeks ago. I assume that they're too busy to either approve or deny my application and also I assume that's where I'll be able to find the patch notes info. Though, I am making an assumption and don't actually know.
These are PTR patch notes, only ones that have access to those discord channels and the PTR client is Alpha 1 testers and kick starter supporters, its super unlikely right now to gain access to the ptr. I got my key over 2 years ago through a giveaway, I thought it was a pretty early key but I still am not able to access the ptr or ptr patch notes myself. Hopefully in the future they give access for the PTR to more people.
I think that is supposed to depend on your blight score in the final game, but they didn't even have blight tracked when they decided on the corruption levels and wanted to overtune corruption for the tests.
I make sure that everyone around me sees how responsible I am during the week so that I can make no apologies during the weekend.
This is a perfect way to put it
When this game runs smoothly it feels incredible to play, it may not uphold every promise from early development, but holy f this could still be a banger
that first 1 min of the video is so relatable. i do not care to do or play anything else that isnt ashes so i focus on work and things like that
I can't even begin to explain how many times someone has Corruption baited me. I've been just patiently waiting for the fix.
I can't wait for it

They are doing it on the different servers.

I’m the same way atm. Busy with life during the week and binge all weekend. Cheers 💪🍺
0:30 its crazy... The game is on alpha with 90 percent of its features missing and irs still the thing i want to play the most when it's available.
ofc, you playing only 2 days in week...when you gonna be able to play hole week, after 5 days you get bored!
The game feels GREAT and can only get better. Ashes is going to be a staple game for me for YEARS.
Excellent video I'm looking forward to playing again this weekend.😄

I’d love to get more testing done. Unfortunately I have a normal 9-5 during the week and a wife. So my weekends aren’t always available
Thinking about Ashes non stop this is crazy can't wait for weekend told everybody I have "work" to do for the weekend so they don't bother me 😂

Corrupted players and players at war need a timer before they can log out (even if they close their client)
Is the Reno patch notes!

still no inventory fixes. This is BY FAR the most anoying bug

yes i cant want to play other things anymore exept this
Me neither it’s crazy. I spend the entire week just waiting for Friday.
