Games just take a long time to get made sometimes. I mean just look at something like Secrets of Grindia, that game was in development for 10 years and it released literally yesterday.
A lot of other games that a lot of people just didn't think would ever come out did the impossible over the last 2 years. I remember when Elden Ring or TotK was a joke in their communities, and with that in mind, it's kinda surreal to be able to play them now.
I mean, Breath of the Wild took so many delays that a whole new console came out before its release and it had to release on multiple platforms, I'm sure that, no matter what is causing Silksong to be delayed so much, the game will still be great
I recently got into Hollow Knight and I'm looking forward to Silksong releasing, despite the long wait, I'm sure the people at Team Cherry will release a sequel that will top Hollow Knight itself, it's just going to take more time for the indie team.
Expectations are a dangerous thing, so you know what I do with indies I look forward to like this? main problem with silkong is that we had no info about game development and nearly no contact with team cherry. i heard that they wanted to communicate with community when silksong gets closer to its realse, and appearently devs started to interact with fans, so we are not far from silksong realse. realse date alone would make me super happy.
We had loads of news and interaction for the first 2 years then its been radio silence. The most recent interaction was their marketing manager messaging on discord that the game was still in development

Hey, listen. They will release it and it will be more than good, dont rush it, let them take their time and that game will be more than masterpiece. (: Unique with good story, hidden messages and a mind opening exprience.❤
silksong is also going to release on many platforms at the same time which makes it take way more time, they have to first port the game to the different platforms and playtest for a while to make sure there arent any massive bugs on each platform. they also might be already making some dlcs
I don’t care about how long it takes, if thats what it takes to make another masterpiece then ok. But its kinda annoying that they don’t release a trailer
Well, maybe a reason for the early trailer was to conclusively say “the 2nd playable character will be it’s own seperate game, and here is how it will look”. Maybe more of a teaser rather than a trailer, but still a way for them to keep the community hooked. And quality games do take time, especially with smaller teams. The dlc’s, while amazing, didnt really add anything too drastic in the ways of coding. Most of godhome was simply putting old bosses in a replayable spot, with difficulty sliders (not entirely the truth, but it’s just to say that most of the hard coding parts of the game were already done pre-dlc)
For a while it was even being advertised on PSN. Not sure if it’s still there or if they took it back down. But when I saw it I got excited because they don’t usually put things up in the coming soon tab unless it will be out in less than a year or so I thought. Did anyone else notice that it was there or does anyone else even remember?
I think people fear that the game is stuck in development and that's why we're not hearing anything. It's important for games to have a release date because that ensures they won't just keep adding stuff on top that might not be necessary. Maybe more areas and quests are good, but not worthy-of-delaying-the-release good. We don't know if they're delaying it because what they have is unstable, or if they're adding content, all we know is "they're working on it", and that also might create some unrealistic expectations. Silksong is just background noise to me atm, I don't have hype for it. I think they made a mistake by announcing it so early. I don't know whose decision was that, if TC's or the publishers. But if their plan was to go all Hello Games style and not say anything to the community, then they should've announced it when they had a firm release date, not so early in development, because now by then it's too late to even go back and cancel Silksong completely or make substantial changes to what's already done.
I actually never thought about the story when thinking about the release date. That's the sort of thing that you can totally mess up and not know what to do
The wait has been excruciating, but I'm firmly in the camp that Silksong is going to be amazing and will blow everybody's minds. I remember a quote from a Valve employee at one point talking about the making of Half-Life 2: episodes 1 & 2. A big point he made was that the episodes are better than the original HL2 because HL2 itself was a learning process, and after its completion, the team was at a point where they could confidently say they were really good at making HL2 content. Team Cherry is now able to apply what they learned when making HK into a brand-new game. The money HK brought in and the lack of a publisher telling them "enough, wrap it up" gives them a lot of freedom that we don't normally see, and I think as a result Silksong is gonna be something really special. I also don't buy the comparisons to Duke Nukem Forever that I see sometimes. DNF was a huge game with a revolving door of engines, devs, suits, and publishers involved. As a AAA title there was a lot of pressure for it deliver cutting edge graphics and physics. Everything we've seen implies that Silksong will deliver graphics in the same vein as HK, which itself was not cutting edge from any kind of technical standpoint.
can only hope that this means they’re taking their time developing it, i really loved hollow knight and every delay for silksong only makes me more excited for the content they’re pumping into it. if 80 year old me is the one who has to experience silksong, so be it. i trust team cherry will do us right.
My theory for why silksong was announced so early is that because of the promise of that second character they had to put something out to acknowledge it
Before i say anything no hate on team cherry now that is cover team cherry's biggest problem is that it's olny 3 people i mean yeah sure they did make hollow knight but silksong is way bigger than hollow knight so i think that they should hire more people i think a great example is deltarune there are more people that work on chapter 1 than chapter 2 in chapter 1 it was just toby fox and temmie but on chapter 2 there were more people working on it witch is why it was more big plus we do get news about deltarune chapters 3 and 4 we actually got news a few days ago some people even started working on chapter 5 while with silksong the last news we got was the xbox trailer
What people are overlooking is that Team Cherry had to announce the game when they did. Imagine if they didn’t. We’d be sat here waiting years for the second playable character.
I think all of these things are equally true, and I can’t complaint one bit. When making ANYTHING, especially when it’s something long term youre always gonna want to go back and redo something because its just not there yet, even if that said thing was the best you could do previously. The desire to improve and perfect their game and craft are an understandable feeling that consumes us all from time to time.
I've made a general rule to not trust devs on releases. That's why I'm not waiting for Silksong, Darksiders 4, Sands of time remake and all else. Trust me, it gives so much peace of mind when you're not waiting for something that won't come.
They also have to get ESRB rated which takes like 6-8 months and even then it won't be finished they said. But the game will probably be out in 1-2 years.
Looking at this now shows just how long it has been and the community is going wild over the fact that it got a store page but not that later it had a age ratting sending the community into a frenzy noting team cherries master piece was going great
True, but at the same time they might’ve gone insane due to the waiting with all the drug-induced levels they are outputting. I can’t even hear “Fire in the hole” normally anymore.
I feel like following the story of hornet (I think that’s the name) will be supper fun If it is happening at the same time as hollow knight maybe you could battle him but seeing as you would be guaranteed to lose to keep the story straight that might not happen Another idea I just had maybe it will come after hollow knight’s entrapment and maybe the seal is broken again and the evil spreads worsening throughout the game which happens a bit in HK but silksong could expand on this idea In other words I’m exited…
As long as its the "good" kind of delay, where we get to see more content then I'm ok waiting. If HK took 5+ extra years and the game was twice as big I'd just love it even more.
I've been waiting for years and I've reached the point where for me, it doesn't matter anymore if the game comes out this year, next year or in five years. Hollow Knight still amazes me to this day and if the developers are putting so much time and effort into a new game that they postponed the release date over and over again for years on end, I know that the game is going to be the best it can be and I would gladly wait for that.
I used to be so excited but I've basically forgotten about it. I haven't thought about it in months until I saw something about HK today and it reminded me that Silksong was still a thing. I'll still play it for sure but I don't really care anymore lol

Yea, that’s definitely a fair assumption. It would feel like a scam if they didn’t mention the “Second Playable Character” until years later.

I get what you're saying, and I'm a big fan of hollow knight and half-life. But I think that might not be the best comparison in this situation
By the time silksong comes out, half the community will have gone insane enough to complete any radiance.
Hello, 4 weeks later and the wait for silksong thus continues on and on :(
can only hope that this means they’re taking their time developing it, i really loved hollow knight and every delay for silksong only makes me more excited for the content they’re pumping into it. if 80 year old me is the one who has to experience silksong, so be it. i trust team cherry will do us right.
daily dose of gaming wasnt on my 2024 bingo card
You know it’s bad when daily dose makes a video about it 🗿🗿🗿
Now we need daily dose to host daily silksong news
About the intro, hollow knight didn't take over the gaming world when it released in 2017, it took a few years for the fanbase to snowball.
My theory for why silksong was announced so early is that because of the promise of that second character they had to put something out to acknowledge it
Not me watching Daily Dose for a Silksong video, it's been a while
Before i say anything no hate on team cherry now that is cover team cherry's biggest problem is that it's olny 3 people i mean yeah sure they did make hollow knight but silksong is way bigger than hollow knight so i think that they should hire more people i think a great example is deltarune there are more people that work on chapter 1 than chapter 2 in chapter 1 it was just toby fox and temmie but on chapter 2 there were more people working on it witch is why it was more big plus we do get news about deltarune chapters 3 and 4 we actually got news a few days ago some people even started working on chapter 5 while with silksong the last news we got was the xbox trailer
Didn't knew you do video game content! Instant sub!
Daily dose of gaming... uploads once a week
I've made a general rule to not trust devs on releases. That's why I'm not waiting for Silksong, Darksiders 4, Sands of time remake and all else.
Trust me, it gives so much peace of mind when you're not waiting for something that won't come.
bro i was not expecting this guy to be the voice of this
They also have to get ESRB rated which takes like 6-8 months and even then it won't be finished they said. But the game will probably be out in 1-2 years.
WOAH i didnt know about this channel whatsup dude
Didn't know DDoG existed, but I gladly welcome the additional channel into my feed
Ain't no way in hell DDOI talked about silksong. My week has been made
Looking at this now shows just how long it has been and the community is going wild over the fact that it got a store page but not that later it had a age ratting sending the community into a frenzy noting team cherries master piece was going great
Whatttt?? I didn't know this channel existed until now
we got confirmation its gonna release in 2025 late 2024 cuz of the fact its releasing before crowsworn
Geometry Dash players are proof that you should just hold out hope
True, but at the same time they might’ve gone insane due to the waiting with all the drug-induced levels they are outputting.
I can’t even hear “Fire in the hole” normally anymore.
The wait feels like I'm inside the black egg
I never knew this sub-channel existed
I would gladly pay $70 for this game. One of the few companies that deserve the money.
For me $70 for SM2 was worth it. For silksong it would definitely be worth it
70 dollar for super mario 2?
@@EXFrost spider-man
I feel like following the story of hornet (I think that’s the name) will be supper fun
If it is happening at the same time as hollow knight maybe you could battle him but seeing as you would be guaranteed to lose to keep the story straight that might not happen
Another idea I just had maybe it will come after hollow knight’s entrapment and maybe the seal is broken again and the evil spreads worsening throughout the game which happens a bit in HK but silksong could expand on this idea
In other words I’m exited…
I'm honestly completly fine with waiting till the devs think its finished
The thing with long releases is that you can look forward to seeing the game be more finished and worked on but at the cost of your own sanity
Daily dose of gaming?!?!?!? I never knew rhis existed
As long as its the "good" kind of delay, where we get to see more content then I'm ok waiting. If HK took 5+ extra years and the game was twice as big I'd just love it even more.
I think that they just want silksong to be another geometry dash 2.2 like thing
I've been waiting for years and I've reached the point where for me, it doesn't matter anymore if the game comes out this year, next year or in five years. Hollow Knight still amazes me to this day and if the developers are putting so much time and effort into a new game that they postponed the release date over and over again for years on end, I know that the game is going to be the best it can be and I would gladly wait for that.
I used to be so excited but I've basically forgotten about it. I haven't thought about it in months until I saw something about HK today and it reminded me that Silksong was still a thing. I'll still play it for sure but I don't really care anymore lol
I did not expect ddoi to make a Hollow Knight video, but alas
