    Perfect video you two. Exactly what we went through for our marriage in 2017 in Manila. Hope your info helps others. I noticed your Canadian flag intro. If interested, it took Canada Immigration (IRCC) 7 months to process my wife to come to Vancouver. But another 4 months prior to obtain documentation and prepare the application for permanent residence. Mostly waiting for our marriage licence to be certified by the Philippine government. So another big process as far as paperwork if you are planning to live in Canada..

      That's true Ron! We also waited 7 months for Catherine's spousal visa. Yes it was a long process but all worth it. :)

    Im planning to get my fiancé's cenomar. I have the authorization letter ready and his ID. Medyo naguluhan lang ako sa pagfill-up ng form. Iba kasi format ng full name dito sa Philippines. Last name (dad's family name), First name (given name) and Middle name (last name ng mum). Iba naman format ng Canadian name. Ano ba susundin ko? For example: Smith, Dave Kevin Michael. Smith is last name, first name is Dave, tapos sabi ni fiancee middle name nya Kevin Michael. Pano ko to ilalagay sa form? diba given name din naman and Kevin Michael?

    Hello. Thank you for this tip. This is so helpful. My foreign fiancée and I are planning a wedding. My question is, can we plan our ceremony and reception ahead and consider the documents to obtain in a week? Will it be risky? Thank you.

    • @SheldonCatherine
      @SheldonCatherine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chin chin, congrats on your upcoming wedding. As for planning ahead, the main thing to consider is that the marriage license takes 10 days before it's released. We originally thought about trying to get it all done in one trip, applying for the marriage license, waiting the 10 days and then having our ceremony, but it would have been too tight and require at least a 3 week trip. If you have the time, I am sure it is doable, but everything hinges on getting the marriage license in your hands. We wish you the best in your planning and God bless. :)

    Hi Sheldon and Catherine..Thank you so much for a giving me clarity about getting married here in the Philippines..It was very informative!😃 You both look good and happy.. I'm wishing you the best in life! I just have some questions,if you don't mind,me and my Canadian bf is planning to get married next year 2021, I'm just wondering if you filled out and completed Request for notary service form,statutory declaration form and credit card authorization form? If yes, How did you sent those forms? Is it through courier or did you went personally to Canadian embassy to submit those? Did you request for certified true copy of documents and authentication service or Is it optional?

    • @SheldonCatherine
      @SheldonCatherine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your kind words. :) The statuatory declaration was obtained in person at the Canadian embassy in Manila, but we didn't have to do request for notary or credit card authorization. Perhaps things have changed. The statuatory declaration was one of the requirements for the marriage license, but since it was obtained at the Canadian embassy with Canadian documents like my passport and divorce certificate, we didnt need to get any certified true copy of anything. Hope this helps and God bless. :)

I ask because I thought I'd need one too perhaps, but I'm Canadian and Canada doesn't do those. Thanks a lot guys for your insight!

    Hello Sheldon and Catherine!
    I need help please!
    I'm presently living through the same thing you did. My GF just got her visitors visa denied yesterday. BTW, She's in Cebu and I'm in Montreal Canada.
    I'm trying to understand the timeline involved in securing all the various documents required for obtaining The marriage license.
    I'm trying to get both the paperwork and the actual wedding ceremony done on the same trip. How much time do I need to plan for the licence part?
    if I understand correctly we need to wait 10 days for the posting of the marriage at the local civil registrar (That is 11 days right there. Anyway to not have to wait 11 days?) How did you get married in a week? I'm a new subcriber and I havent seen if you had secured the mariage license on a previous trip.
    Most of the requirements can be done in advance except 2 documents:
    My certificate of legal capacity to Marry at the Canadian Embassy. but that takes about 1 day. (in my case, at the Cebu branch of the Canadian embassy that works by internet secured appointments)
    The other document is the Community tax certificate (cedula) but that is 1 day .
    So getting a marriage license will take at least 13 days. Correct?

    • @SheldonCatherine
      @SheldonCatherine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick, you have a pretty good understanding already, but you can check out this video where we tried to explain everything we could remember about our experience. :) th-cam.com/video/F4g90T0E2oE/w-d-xo.html
      edit: so if you want to get the marriage license and get married at the same time, you need to plan for a 3 week+ trip. I personally did it in 2 separate trips, one for marriage license and then when we got married. :) thanks for watching :)

      Hey Patrick I am experiencing the same thing as you as my gf got refused her Visitor Visa too. I am planning to return to PH next month and with only 3 weeks vacation I'm also wondering if this can actually be done so I return home married.....unfortunately without my bride :(Once married I am told to apply for both Spousal Visa and Visitor Visa as Spousal take a year or more and Visitor may allow her to visit during that time.Also Sheldon and Catherine, some of you links do not work.

    • @patricke.987
      @patricke.987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@warrennekurak9348
      Hello Warren!
      You will be happy to know that yes it can be done in 3 weeks since I have just done it!
      I left for the Phillippinnes on Nov.24 (arrived on 25th 1 AM) and left on Dec.15th. I am hapilly married since Dec.12th 2019 !!!
      I must say That Sheldon and Catherines video was CRUCIAL in getting this done! I want to tell them the biggest Thank you from all my heart!
      I got all the steps done like perfectly describded by Sheldon and Catherine including the marriage certificate 10 day posting period.
      It all got done in 21 days. But you need to arrive on a monday and start your process RUSH! on that Monday and you will be running all the time. Their a few KEY dates. The main issue to decide is do you want a religious wedding that a pastor performs or a civil wedding performed by a judge or Mayor? Both have big advantages but it's actually the main date everything revolves around.
      Pastor is always available and no corruption involved but all religions have a religious wedding course to attend.
      (This can be done during the posting period) So it adds on to an already busy list of things to do BUT IT IS SAFER in regards to people honoring the schedule. Also note that a pastor can come to the venue of your choice. So the pastor is flexible on the dates providing he is available.
      A civil Wedding (that is what I did!) is done at a civil court and they are not flexible. In my case the wedding was in Lapu Lapu and the judges are awarded by a raffle every monday on a weekly basis. This means that you have until monday 10AM to get in the draw that is done at 2:00 pm every monday afternoon. This draw sets the sequence of all the wedding applicants for that given week!
      So if you come out first there is no issues in getting a judge and if you are last then you have an issue and that's when the problems start! I got my marriage certificate on Monday dec. 9th at 8:00 AM and I needed to get married on the 12th so it's a very tight squeeze!!!
      The Monday draw became my KEY DATE. The starting point for my tight 3 week schedule.
      That is what you need to find out! When and how are the judges assigned! But I will give you friendly advice!
      Go with another route! Get married by a mayor! Because the mayor can be soft booked by your GF in the phillippinnes even before you arrived. He will cost you a few pesos but it's money well spent!!!!! He will expect a donation for his time and depending if it's done at the town hall or if he comes to your venu it will be between 300 pesos and 4000 pesos. I would of paid 5000 pesos to eliminate the judges out of the equations LOL!
      Anyway There are many things to know ! Where are you getting married !
      Becuse that is the second key date! The meeting with the embassy in Manilla or the Consulate in Cebu is two different things !
      They operate completely differently and that the other date that needs to be booked well in advance!
      Give me some news!
      Patrick

God bless and congratulations! :) @Warren Nekurak I hope and wish you the best on your journey as well. Hi Cas, we didn''t need an appointment, it is actually first come first serve. Arrive early at the lobby and then when they begin letting people in they only allow a certain number of people up to the office,and if you don't get in you need to try the next day. The first day we were there it was too late for the time window, but the next day we got in. This was for the Canadian Embassy in Manila, so it would be best to check at your local embassy to see what the process is. Hope this helps and God bless.

      Hi Jalal, we don't remember the exact total of everything, but it was around 5k CDN, 3k for the wedding organizer, venue etc, and about 2k for everything else. Thanks for the question. :)
