How to fix the boot mechanism on the Astra h mk5 when it has stopped operating which can be a bit of a headache when you need access to the boot for ease of loading
Good video, rather than working in the boot tho, you can open it for better access. The central trim you rem9ved has a small rubber grommet in the middle, you can just see it in the video. Pop this out and you will see a manual release you can use to open it!!
Bless you man. Took a long time to get that back panel off as mine had 2 screws underneath. Got enough on it to open the tailgate with the metal rod that had dislodged. Put some tape on that to stop it coming off again. Like reverse what you showed and working so far. Will leave it a few days see if it keeps working
If your boot is not opening in an astra like this check to see if the windscreen washer is working as the fuse for the windscreen washer and boot are the same fuse might save you some time and money if this happens
@@unknown-fu5bi not got round to it yet mate but it'll be a standard car fuse of certain amperage - probably 5a but I'd have to Google / check car book to be sure. It will show on the fuse itself if you find a diagram of the fusebox

Quick way I found ..was to cut the plastic..with a stanley on the plastic boot swich -so I could let the muck out and get to the micro switch ..without removing anything -worked - ..did have to replce switch eventually a year later -like you hown -great video nice one
I bet it possible to just use a screwdriver at start to remove part removed at the end in vid . You would have to be on your knees . Once removed use u finger to push micro switch . If switch knackered then other work necessary to remove to replace . Worth a try .
Hi Paul. Which part is this. All I have done is manually open the boot from the inside. And removed the trim. Wasn’t much I could unplug or remove. My boot button clicks. I can hear a clicking noise from the rear fuse box everytime I press the boot switch button. And the door open sign disappears too when I click the boot button. It works occasionally very rarely. But then goes back to remaining locked. Assuming it’s corroded somewhere. Not keen on replacing the whole thing. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks !
@@mp7851 getting same issues again in winter check to see if there any water . Lock at the card cover on the boot latch if inside is stained there a leak Mine is coming from window rear wiper seal . Need to change this
@@mp7851 so I’m going have to change my rubber seal and dry out the connector this prob issue , if that don’t work then it’s prob boot latch , had this on the window switch Pretty cheap to replace just bit ass to change
What is the connector bit. Is it visible after taking just the trim off the inside or do you have to dismantle a few more things in order to access it? I have always had a crack on the top brake light. So I guess eventually water has seeped in.
My Astra H Axtive 2010 reg has a plastic trim panel on the boot rather than your material one, before I break the thing is their any screws I should know about or anything, that's if you're aware of course.... Ta
I have a mk5 astravan i have the same problem but my central locking is not working at all not even from the button on the dash do you have any idea what it could be?
not sure but i would check the fuse first and then look for any broken wires or loose connections located on the inside of doors and on the one in the boot
Seans Autos its weird because i test driv the van and the central locking wasn’t working before I bought it i payed for the van went on holiday so it was standing still for two weeks came back and the locking was working fine
Instead of launching straight in to dismantling the boot, first check if your windscreen washers are working. If not, it’s fuse no 8. I wasted a whole morning following this video. Arrrrgh!
The first thing I did is check the fuse, this video is for those who's fuse is good and who's tailgate not opening... anyone who doesn't check if the fuse is good prior to dismantling the boot , would be I agree waisting their time..
Not to sure mate have you checked fuses and connections or disconnected and reconnected the light...maybe try replacing the the whole number plate light unit

I spend 5 cm tape a small wrench and 1h30 min I believe and done. 🎉

Exactly the same issue here..... it’s been struggling for a while and has now finally given up. Hopefully this will do the trick 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’ve repaired on or two Vauxhall’s, boot not working, every time I’ve found the electric connectors ,to the lock the pins rusted or broken,

Don't add tape, if you look at the back of the switch the glue holding it in place has failed so push it back in and re-glue it.
Could also be the wire connector to the boot lock latch having corrison . Check this first as this was my issues . A good clean. And it was fixed

Wondering if disconnecting the 4 massive scart plug looking things in the boot fuse box to reset it all might work.
I’ve tried the micro switch no look ! How do I go about opening boot if I can’t get in through the front due to work materials blocking access ??

strange.. maybe just a loose connection....id try disconnecting car battery for a short while to see what happens
