    I work at a vauxhall dealership. This switches are common pretty much on all makes and models. Thankfully it's a relatively cheap fix and as shown on this great video, can be done by most of us. One little tip for you all. You can sometimes activate the lock by repeatedly pressing both the micro switch and the open button on your key fob at the same time...worked on mine anyway!

    Fantastic! Just the bit showing where the tiny lever is to open the boot from the inside was gold. I'd just about given up on even trying to open it!

    This video was a huge help! thanks. I fixed my Opel Mervia. It might have slightly different panel construction than the Vauxhall version. I had trouble getting the big inner panel off at first until I figured out you can unscrew the 2 "pegs" left and right of the window and then pry off the central bar/covering at the top of the window towards the hinge. From there is was much easier to pull of the coverings left/right of the window and then the whole big panel below.

    Good demo video apart from the fact that when the exterior panel was on the bench it was sliding all over the place and scratched the badge. Check 10 seconds in then again 8:29 and notice the scratch on the second 'L' in Vauxhall.
    Apart from that good video.
    So remember when placing the panel on the bench, put it on a towel or cloth so you don't scratch it.

      Not much chance of scratching the plastic chrome against soft MDF but I see what you are on about and that was just a smudge of oil. I still maintain this car today and the badge is still in great condition but thanks for trying to find the negative in what is supposed to be a video to help you out👍🏻

      @@AMSVauxhall It wasn't meant to be a negative rather an helpful suggestion so no-one scratches their badge or paintwork. Imagine someone copying your very good video but not thinking and placing their panel on a rather less forgiving surface. I thought you might have taken my comments as a positive and a added extra to your video as you didn't mention it yourself. I watched your video because I needed to change the switch on my Meriva and I couldn't open the boot. So with that said your video was indeed very helpful and appreciated.
      (PS I did notice the 'oil smudge' on another video you did on the same car and that's why I commented ; )

      LostXInXChaos Give it a go buddy, you can’t break something that is already broken. Just take your time. The most awkward part is popping the rear panel off the centre clips. You will need a set of torx screwdrivers and an 8mm socket.

    Hello... How do I know if it is the button o the lock that is not working? Thanks!

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Douglas Bento hi buddy, if you push the button and it doesn’t click or you don’t hear the motor / lock working then it’s a sure thing that the button is at fault. However, if you want to go through the diagnosis procedure, first check all the fuses and then you can do a resistance test on the wiring to confirm there is no break in the wiring. Alternatively if you have access to diagnostic machines that can access the modules you can activate the switch which would confirm if it’s working or not.

      AMS Vauxhall poor design by Vauxhall. This should be able to be unlocked with a key if this Micky mouse switch fails; why make it electric with no fail safe - what’s the point? Practicality has gone out the window these days. Give me both or a more reliable mechanical key lock. It’s a cost cutter at the expense of reliability; junk.
