Ive seen in a lot of documentaries about Joan People saying her entire persona became an act and she became a persona of her characters and was never real, always an act. I think interviews like this show the complete opposite. Such a fascinating woman
I just love Joan Crawford so much. A shining example of grace, dignity, intelligence, and beauty. I don't believe any of that psychotic stuff that Christina wrote about her either. I just can't picture it. I can't get enough of Joan. I've seen every picture she's ever done, and I've even been calling my morning Diet Pepsi my morning Diet Joanie for probably ten years now lol. I could listen to her speak all day and never get bored. She was captivating in a way that so many "stars" of today could never understand.
None of us know how beautiful she really was. If you could watch her Gable movies on a theater screen you would observe perfection. A pioneer in a new industry. She was a star.
When saying “hell” was still considered a bad word unlike the loose lips we have today. Lol shows her level of sophistication and how far we’ve fallen from that level. What a great lady.
The studio was also worried that her birth name would sound too much like “sewer” to movie audiences. But in that era the studios tended to overthink these things…
Still classy. Had a little slip of the tongue and was still lady and refined enough to apologize and acknowledge the error. Unlike todays vulgar folk around.
Joan Crawford sounds like a good old fashioned Hollywood name, and I do think that it suited her well. But so did her original name, so I don't understand why they changed it.
@@kirsikka1029 xtina, the writer of the book, said the movie is NOT like her book. Furthermore, her book is full of lies. She has lied under oath and tried to make her ab*se into a musical…. Witness she claimed see stuff happen strongly disagree with those claims. www.christinacrawfordlied.com
@@kirsikka1029she was extremely Jealous of her Mother and completely un grateful. She knew Joan will not leave her any of her hard earned money so she xitina went ahead & wrote those lies to make money off her !!! The person who helped her and raised her !!! Disgraceful !!!
Joan was a beautiful soul and highly intelligent considering she went as high as the fifth grade. I'm ashamed at the great lengths that Christina went to get back at her mother in her tell all book "Mommy Dearest". Joan wasn't perfect and her alcoholism probably did pull her into a different direction than she herself would have wanted. Bette Davis as we all know couldn't stand Joan did say she was always on time and knew her lines and that's all Bette would say about Joan. I believe Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte was the only film that Joan's behavior was unprofessional but I will give a her a big break.
Whether you like her or not she's probably the most interesting, intriguing actress that was ever on the screen. During interviews you feel like she's revealing everything about herself. She reels you in. Then a 1/2 hour later you feel like she hasn't told you anything. You're not angry about it though. That takes skill.
Having strangers and executives in suits create your name and identity, without any say from you, must surely have a significant psychological impact. Very dehumanizing.
They all changed their names in those days. The story goes a studio exec thought her last name sounded too much like "sewer" so it had to go. But it's nice she still owned it personally to the end.
If she is to be condemned let it be because she was a perfectionist. A smart successful woman in a man's world. I don't think people understand what that really means. Her, Bette Davis had to fight like hell to not be ground into a fine powder like most the rest of the woman and men actors. Her incredible performances speak for themselves...Grand Hotel, Mildred Pierce, What ever happened to baby jane...and so many more still hold up!! She just had an unappreciative daughter!
Joan was genuinely funny! Sharp & quick-witted!👸
What a great actress she was she had a great sense of humor I love you so much your 1fan for life
Such a beautiful lady. Sad how people don't understand how hard she fought for her name back when women had to be tough
How the hell did she fight for a name she let a magazine contest change?
I agree
I just love the way she speaks.
She really appreciated her fans.
I’m appreciating Joan Crawford later in my life. I never actively disliked her, I just never took the time to know her work and see her in interviews.
Same! I’m almost 50 and am taking some inspiration from the OG Hollywood legends. They don’t make them like this anymore.❤
Gosh, she was adorable

LEGEND AND CLASS
She was showing off in that interview what great shape her arms were still in at that age. She was always very athletic and strong.
This entire interview was perfection. Her candor was adorable…her speech, divine 💜

I wish I could have met her!!!!! God she seemed so down to earth! I will always be a fan of hers until my dying hour!
I feel the same way & Me too ❤
I’ve watched many of her films and fell in love with her acting when I was pretty young. It’s nice to see shorts of her now ❤️💖🌸
Legend !!! Brilliant woman came from humble beginnings
She’s so lovely! ❤️👌 I just think she’s the cats pajamas!
I've always thought she was beautiful ❤❤
She is definitely one of my favorite actresses! Thank you for the wonderful entertainment! ❤❤❤
I love her real name it’s beautiful and it suits her perfectly - what a shame they took that away from her making her work with a name she hated😢
What a fascinating, inteligent person. And so beautiful, too.
She was great ! RIP Joan !
The legend that is Miss Crawford ❤❤❤
A woman of class❤
Hollywood had class back then. Even the bad people of Hollywood had class.
Strength TALENT humility and Quintessential CLASS !!! #JOANCRAWFORD one of a KIND !!! 💙🚬🧡
There will never be another joan crawford. True Hollywood royalty she earned her place.❤ 🌟 🌟 ❤

Fuckin cry about it. The Hays code was bullshit and Crawford, like all Hollywood actors and actresses, swore like a sailor off camera.
Joan was truly a STAR ⭐️ such grace , class and beauty ❤❤
My step father Roger LeSueur is related to her.
Love ❤️ Joan RIP
Joan Crawford was a classy lady in my book.
She's fascinating to watch and look at her with her Afro influenced headpiece!!! Go on St Joan with your fierce self.
To hell with it 🙊 excuse me
😂
I actually loved her birth name
The studio was also worried that her birth name would sound too much like “sewer” to movie audiences. But in that era the studios tended to overthink these things…
Bella...que mirada...maravillosa!!❤
Love this lady
Legendary Actress one of a kind but back in the she had amazing beauty out of this world!!
I had never heard her say her name, Lucille LeSeur, before. MGM said it sounded like "sewer" so they held a contest to name this starlet.
I love her real name

Classy lady❤
The things you couldn't say on tv then versus now!!
Yep, it came from contest. I think Crawford is a cool name. Whatever the case, she was terrific!!!!❤
Crawford.... Sounds like old money with class.. just like her.. classy ❤
Her name may be cool, but she wasn't a terrific person! You might want to check out the book & movie MOMMY DEAREST ! JC was abusive & mean.

A great mother and wife
So classy, her face when she said to hell with it was so cute
A real movie star
Ha... Lucille LeSueur ..is still me
Very down to earth

We love you Joan

I want to believe she was a lovely woman......a fantady is better than the truth....I will never know...the enigma for me with always be magic to me!😊
To heaven with it 🙈🤣

"I'm half French, half whale shark"
😂. Sounds like crawfish
Meryl Streep should play her in a documovie
Sueur means sweat, so it wasn't only about the lenght
Actually her real name is more exotic but I guess the wanted a more “ American “ name as per the time period
She looked like Samantha's mother-in-law on Bewitched there. What an odd way to dress, so uncharacteristic of her.
Leasuer makes me think of those delicious canned peaa
They’ve got a disco in there!?
They made it seem like she was a terrible mom, in the movie mommy dearest.
So sad, while her twins Cathy and Cindy denounced the film and said she was a very loving mother.

that series Feud on FX made me dislike her even more. I really don't know what to believe about her at this point tbh.
